LegoMan1031 Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 This certainly is the case when trying to get the blink due to the buggy/glitchy nature of the Lego games. I had to go through one of the Harry Potter ones twice purely because one of collectables glitched on me. On LOTR a Mithril Brick glitched on me leaving me at 99% completion rate and locking me out of several achievements. It is a wide spread problem and luckily they released some codes that you put in the Extras menu which netted you the blink. They are working on a patch for this issue as well though. Cool, I had to replay most of lego indi 2 a few years ago because of a glitch. I think it was in one of the hub worlds a flame or something similar disappeared , I think when we were playing through we grabbed it and threw it messing around but it never came back like it's supposed to, making it impossible for me to get one of the collectables later on!
Adrian DX Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 Anybody on here have Ticket to Ride? Me and the family bought the board game for Christmas and I got hooked. Want someone to play with xP Add my GT =)
Ganepark32 Posted December 30, 2012 Posted December 30, 2012 Anyone pick up/play Spec Ops: The Line? Picked it up on the cheap on Boxing Day, started it on Friday and finished it last night. Pretty good I felt. Gameplay is a bit run-of-the-mill, although that's hardly the worst thing as is still an enjoyable romp, and it isn't exactly the longest game (just over 4 hours to finish on the middle difficulty) but the story was definitely the best part. Clearly, it was trying to ape Heart of Darkness (hell, one of the characters is even called John Konrad in reference to the author) / Apocalypse Now but it was interesting seeing everything unfold through the game/at the end. Was a shame the actual decisions you make don't actually bear any effect on the game, outside of the final decision right at the end which lets you see/play the epilogue or not, but it definitely does bring up questions of the morality of soldiers' actions (but more generally how we as people deal with denial) and the psychological effects that these scenarios can have on them. One part in particular, which is clearly a reference to Apocalypse Now/the Vietnam War, does leave a rather haunted image. Would also have been nice to see the sand mechanic being more dynamic than it was but that may be a conscious decision on behalf of the developers due to aging hardware. Still, for £12 I'm not complaining. Thought it was pretty good and definitely agree with the sentiments going round the industry/internet about it having a good story backing it. If anyone is looking for a decent game to tide them over, and one which you can get a relatively easy 1000G from (all the achievements/trophies can be gotten in the single player and probably through 2 runs on the top two difficulties), then I do recommend it. Now to start Crysis 2, which I picked up for a fiver as I haven't gotten round to playing it yet.
Dog-amoto Posted December 30, 2012 Posted December 30, 2012 Fancied picking up Ghostbusters:The Game the other day, seeing as it's awesome and all. Thought I'd be able to get it for a song, but... £36 on amazon £39 on play.com And £25 at Game, but not in stock. May have to trawl through the preowned bin when I'm next in town.

You can have mine if you want? I imported it from the US when it first got released so I could never trade it in. They never did fix the glitch that stopped me and my mates getting the full 1000/1000 though. Due to me not liking the Wii U at all I fired up the old faithful 360 and played through a bunch of games last week. Lego Pirates Hot on the heels of Lego LOTR I started playing through this. Like all the Lego games a joy to play and the lack of a giant hub world was quite welcome. DBZ Budokai HD Collection This took me back to my younger years. The first game hasn't aged well but the 3rd game was still a blast, especially the adventure mode. DBZ Kinect Awesome experience, if a little repetitive. I don't think I have ever smiled so much while playing a game when I had to do my first Kamehameha and Spirit Bomb. Luckily I didn't have to charge the Spirit Bomb for several episodes. I played it 8 hours straight and woke up the next morning in agony. Far Cry 3 I very nice surprise this one. I picked it up cheap from GAMEs sale and found it a a very fun, if a little trippy, experience. At times it reminded me of a first person Just Cause. Sleeping Dogs A game I have been wanting to play since its release and I finally picked it up for a responsible £15. I actually preferred this over GTAIV especially the combat. The fighting system reminded me of the Batman Arkham games, very fast and very fluid. Top game and highly recommended. All of these added a nice 5000 GS before the year is out.

Hero-of-Time Posted December 30, 2012 Posted December 30, 2012 Will it work on a UK 360 though? How much do you want for it? Yeah, it works. I imported it because the Euro version got delayed. You misunderstood me when I said you can have it. I meant you can HAVE it, no payment necessary. Just PM me your address and I'll send it off for you.
Shorty Posted December 30, 2012 Posted December 30, 2012 Far Cry 3 I very nice surprise this one. I picked it up cheap from GAMEs sale and found it a a very fun, if a little trippy, experience. At times it reminded me of a first person Just Cause. I got this hilariously cheap on the PC and have gotten a good way through it. Great game and very fun, yet despite all the size and an intial feeling that it was a very layered game, I actually found it a bit shallow. I think it's about the most fun I've had with a Sniper Rifle for a long time, though. I got Dark Souls Prepare to Die edition for Christmas and am looking forward to getting into that soon.

Clearing the camps out with a sniper was very satisfying, especially sniping the guard dogs. It was also hilarious getting attacked off a bear, only for me to pull out my RPG and send it to hell.
Hero-of-Time Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 It begins.... http://majornelson.com/2013/01/02/countdown-to-e3-2013/
Shorty Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 Man for all we know, Major Nelson just discovered this countdown making website and thought he had found something awesome. Like when your Mum sends you an email about the free drinks holder that makes your CD tray pop out. It does not automatically = new Xbox.
Jimbob Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 Maybe it's a new Fable! It's a new Kinect, for the entire house to be motion controlled from the Xbox
Dcubed Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 (edited) Good. The quicker that PS4 and 720 get unveiled, the quicker we get all of this shrouded-in-mystery BS over and done with! The promises of nebulous nonsense that has spread over the last year or so is just pissing me off. Finally we'll be able to see what they're actually doing/not doing and we'll see what fantastic/piss poor graphics jump that "next gen" will offer. Looking forward to anti-used game systems that have discs with RFID tags (http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=506560) that sell for £50 with ingame ads and another £50's worth of DLC on top of the privilage of paying full whack for it And with new controllers that are functionally identical to the ones you've already got for just £40 a pop (oh and you can't use your existing PS360 ones either...) Only £300 with a 2 year XBL Gold subscription (Youtube and Netflix access sold separately) WHAT A STEAL!!! I'm becoming a right Cranky Kong lol. Maybe if I'm lucky, there will be a couple of indie games I'm interested in playing in a couple of years down the line after retail becomes nothing but COD/COD clones, Uncharted & Heavy Rain clones, Asscreed and Fifa... MindFreak Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 I completed The Amazing Spider-Man today but not 100 % - I still need 105 G but I refuse to get them as they require me to go through the game again in some sense. The game has A TON of collectibles and most of them are no fun to get at all and you don't get much from getting everything so I stopped at 500 Comic Book Pages so I had all digital comic books. I intend to read them at some point. As for the game itself, it was enjoyable. I have only played Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions before this and this was miles better. It still had some faults, mainly being very repetitive while the combat system is flawed and limited, but the story was somewhat good and the basic mechanics worked. Now I have to decide which game to start on next: Sonic Generations, Dishonored, Dust: An Elysian Tail, The Walking Dead, or Alice: Madness Returns (along with the original Alice). Tough decisions!
MindFreak Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 Have you seen this? It looks really cool from a technologically viewpoint but I don't think I would use it personally. Also, I would probably prefer to have my TV surrounded by nothing but white wall if I were to use this. I wonder what projects the image? It almost has to be some sort of projector behind the player.
Dcubed Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 (edited) Well, I think that we may be looking at the 720's main gimmick here! Granted, it has very few, if any, ramifications on gameplay (barring a game like Eternal Darkness; man, imagine the sanity effects they could pull off with this!) but it is pretty a cool concept nonetheless. I like the warbely effect from the gunshot in that video! Pretty impressive stuff! (the expanded FOV... I dunno. Looks too difficult to keep track of - and the floating gun in the middle of the display looks insanely stupid!) This is something that really needs a glasses free 3D projector (do those even exist?) to really work though, along with a glasses free HDTV. Also I question how well it would actually work in a real setting. It's all well and good showing it in a lifestyle ad, with a perfect living room (and unbearablely fake family to go along with it!), but I doubt that it would work nearly as well in my own living room. I don't even have enough space for Kinect to work, let alone a projector! (which is also why I don't have a projector setup in place of my HDTV - believe you me, I'd love to have one if I had the space!) Either way though, good on em for trying something different! Sony could learn a thing or two from MS and how to create something new and exciting without resorting to merely poorly imitating Nintendo! I shudder to think at how much it's gonna cost though... They want a beefy system that includes an enhanced Kinect camera AND a projector now!? (they'll at least make a killing on selling extra projector bulbs though. They cost a fucking fortune to buy!) Hope you're comfortable paying $599.99 with a 2+ year contract to pay off the rest of it! Edited January 10, 2013 by Dcubed
Cube Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 (edited) I'm pretty sure it will be an accessory. I doubt such an expensive, pointless and vomit-inducing feature will be part of the main console package. I personally think that a much, much more subtle effect would be better. Edited January 10, 2013 by Cube
Shorty Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 I personally think that a much, much more subtle effect would be better. Ya, agreed, why extend the viewport? That's just going to put distracting things on your bookshelf that you can't quite see. On the other hand, if there was a blur during racing games or lights that reacted to the music etc, something designed to compliment and focus your view, rather than expanding it, it could be awesome.
Cube Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 Even projecting similar colours (similar to the technology that projects it behind the screen) to what is on screen would be good. I would imagine that Dance Central could go crazy with the technology. That's one kind of game where this would really work.
madeinbeats Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 I'm fascinated by it the same way a magpie is by bottle tops. Who knows if it adds anything worthwhile enough so that people turn it on all the time. The snow effect was the only thing I thought looked really cheap and annoying; how many developers will just bolt a cheap effect like that on?
jayseven Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 I for one maintain my gloomy expectations of the gaming future. All this extra-peripheral stuff requires, for me, extra-sensory stuff that I don't have. That technology would be literally useless for my eyes. If I'm in the first half of the cinema I have to turn my head to see the other half of the screen. My dad has a projector TV and I can't see the whole thing with my vision. I'm not saying that the next gen of gaming will be incompatible with jay7.0, just sayin' that it's fairly clear at some point in the future games will be all snazzy and fancy and shit, but I can't play :'( Plus side; shitload of games on a shitload of consoles already in existence.
BeerMonkey Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 with that vid makes it seem like you have to play on it in a dark room to take full advantage of the technology. If you play in the middle of the day i expect it will be next to useless.
arri Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 Which Xbox game can you recommend? I'd like something with good graphics and nice storyline
