This isn't bloody second life, its you living in a virtual world.

Why say that is isn't Second Life, then say something that can equally describe both Second Life and psh?

And, sure the Mii's don't have much point, but neither does psh.

they bought a console that can't do realistic graphics so knock the whole concept.

From what I've seen, the PS3 and 360 can produce ultra-clean high-poly graphics. They can't do anything anywhere near realistic graphics-wise.

Not really although the idea for Miis is somewhat good I guess what point do they offer - none really. Whereas the Home avatars actually are going through a virtual world so they need that particular style.

Of course realism is fine for mass market potential. Typical indication of a fanboy their, they bought a console that can't do realistic graphics so knock the whole concept.

I disagree, Miis do have a point: they're fun. I can get my family making Miis because they're simple, quick to make, and fun to use in Wii Sports. Making uber-realistic avatars is just a pain as they're so hard to make look right — just look at Oblivion's monstrous progeny, or the vacant stares of the produce of EA's create-a-character system.

Mii functionality is sparse at the moment, but EA and Sega want to use them in their games as per the original premise of cross-game integration; Miis and Home avatars are completely different things, and I was only comparing the two on stylistic grounds.

As for the 'fanboy' comment... well, it speaks for itself, really.

You don't see any similarities? Seriously?

And nintendo should be taking notes on original downloadable content. Microsoft less so though.

Not really as they haven't made a big thing of pushing for it. I'd love to see some independent Wii games to download — maybe from a separate channel? — but Microsoft has been banging Live Arcade's drum for over a year and Sony have basically outdone them already.

Interesting note: Reggie fils-aime was in the audience for phils keynote, and apparently he loved the idea for Home.

Good for him. I, however, shall remain skeptical until it proves my worries false.

Incidentally, could you please try and backup your arguments instead of just stating things as fact with no reasoning attached? Thanks.

I just saw the Little Big Planet video, and OMG isn't it fucking awesome. I'm speechless, its like FourSwords meets Loco Roco meets Mario. I was actually giggling while watching it. Wii hasn't impressed me like this yet, I remember feeling this with GameCube, but not Wii. I guess this is what it feels like when you betray your girlfriend.

Does it remind you of Yoshi Story as well?

Just watched the My Home feature and it looks pretty sweet. What was that colourful game they showed on the My Home video? Looked very quirky and from a 5 sec vid of it I think it looks fantanstic.

I'm giving up. Home makes me want a PS3 . . . does that make me very sad?! lol

But making existing owners wait until the end of the year is stupid. I just hope its going to be lag free by the time it launches.

TBH I don't see why anyone could look down on home. It's FREE for christ sake. If you had to pay for it then yeah I'm sure it would be fine to say it's crap and stuff. The thing is free and if you don't want it, then don't bloody download it, simple as. For free software it's wonderful stuff with some neat ideas.

I know I'll be downloading that free stuff the instant it's up.

Dang, Home (Although a complete rip) does look very good.

I hope they bring out some good games on the console one day, so I actually have a reason to get it.

Heavenly Sword/MGS4/DMC4/Tekken 6/LittleBigPlannet the list goes on and on.

Actually just watched the keynote from yesterday. Phil says that LittleBigPlannet is coming to blue ray. So I've thinking to myself Sony could get be creating a new range of games like "CreativeVision" where a company makes a good online component to sharing and you can play around with games what nots. Maybe then save them to your harddrive, upload them to your personal store where people buy these little games and you get a little bit of money and sony get a little bit. OMG this if Sony does it right and release more games like LittleBigPlannet could inspire more talent to come into the industry.

And what do you mean by Home being a complete rip.

Ah yes the usual kind of Playstation-ey games. Doesnt really interest me TBH. I find Tekken incredibly bland.

Killzone was awesome....So was Black....

Like I said Playstation need to change something about their games or bring some really awesome ones out...ATM other than Graphics I dont see any PS Exclusives raising the bar, or bringing games that genuinely couldnt be done on PS2 (E.g. GTA4s AI Engine/etc, SW Unleashed same, Assassins Creed - same) And they are all on 360 aswell.

Dont get me wrong I really WANT to like it, and have access to all the good games (Thats the whole point) but theres nothing that interests me yet, and Sony arent doing themselves favours with the price, the bull shit that they constantly say "We need to bring this to American market" (Stuff like that) and stealing ideas is not admirable.

Little Big Planet looks fucking amazing, and makes me want a PS3. Mission accomplished, Sony. Home is a good idea on paper, but in reality it will most likely be ruined by morons, which is a real shame.

Hmm according to Gametrailers Motorstorm couldn't be done on the PS2 because of the very good physics the game has.

I've bought the PS3 for old and new franchises alike. I'd like to play sequel to God of War 2? Fuck yeah man! Do I want to play LittleBigPlanet? Of course. I can see this happening all over again where people just look on the top (They did that alot with the PS2) and never dive under the cover so to speak.

I wouldn't say it's a rip off. The avatars aren't anything like Miis, and the Achievement-esque trophies are more a natural evolution of the idea; when Kotaku first brought up the rumour I was thinking along the lines of the Pirate Room from Final Fantasy XII mixed with the player's house in Animal Crossing — shame the reality lacks the charm of either.

There will be.

I'm not getting a PS3 at launch as it simply costs too much for me to justify the purchase, especially as I can't see there being any games I 'need' to play for quite a few months. I will get one, though, that's a certainty.

If the PlayStation 3 manages to garner even half the catalogue of excellent games the PS2 did then I see absolutely no reason to pass up on the opportunity to play them.

I get the feeling that the ICO team will probably end up selling the PS3 to me.

When I first heard of Playstation Home, I was almost certain it was a rip off of the mii system and the xbox live achievements system.

But alas after reading about it, it doesn't seem at all like my initial views. It seems far more like Second Life than I was expecting which can only be a good thing. I'm looking forward to seeing how it develops. As a gamer I'm still not sold on the PS3 and it's more looking like the 360 will in time be purchased to go along side my Wii, but if the PS3 improves I could change my mind who knows...

I like the idea of Home but there are a couple things that have me doubting...

I don't use, or ever will use, my console to socialise. If I want to go bowling with friends I would want to do it in the real world...or on my Wii, the point is I want to see my friends.

How many people on you friends list would you actively want to talk to? I only have 2 actual friends on my 360 friends list, one person who convinced me to get a 360 and another person I convinced to get one (The point being I doubt I could convince people to spend £400+ on a PS3)

Sony are going to need dedicated servers so does that mean that each region is going to get its own server?

Another major problem is that do I really want to spend my time organising my home/ walking to a cinema to see a trailer/go to a shop to download a game? The whole thing seems like way too much effort...

Also what kind of internet speeds are you going to need? Its fine for me, I have 24 Meg broadband but I think I am probably in the minority!

TBH I though it was an awesome idea yesterday but the novelty has truly worn off...

Also, LBP looks awesome! Love the music!
