Slaggis Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 Has anyone seen "The Happening"? Personally i loved it but most of my friends hated it. That was the shittest (No joke) film both I and my mates have ever had the pleasure of watching. We had such a laugh in the cinema taking the piss out of the film, it was brilliant. Definitely an example of so bad its...bad. High School Musical 3: Senior Year Second time I've seen this and I enjoyed it even more. Better than the last two and the songs are great. I like 'Can I have this dance?' and 'Walk away', great tracks. 8/10 I love those two songs. The only song I don't paticularly like is "Right Here, Right Now" - it's just a little bit on the wrong side of cheesy for it's own good. The rest though are great. "The Boys Are Back" dance sequence, and "Scream" are also rather immense. Efron doing a wierd stripper dance on a rope floored me. Oh, and "Night to Remember" is unbelievably catchy.

A night to remember is a great song. I didn't like We're All In This Together (the slow version) though. I also like 'Just wanna be with you'. I hated that British girl, she annoyed the heck out of me through one of the songs and when she was in the movie. I love Vanessa Hudgens, I think she looks beautiful. Would like her phone number, haha ;D But I gotta say, I was laughing hysterically half-way through 'Now or never' when everyone shouts 'Troy!' and then you hear Gabriella shout/sing "TROOOOOOOOOOOOOY!" lol.

Haha, yeah. When she goes "Let Daaaance" in a posh british accent, I burst out laughing. It sounded so utterly wrong. I'd have to agree, she looked surpisingly good in the movie (I use the word suprisingly because I've never really considered her that attractive). Tisdale/Efron on the other hand? *daydreams*. :p But yeah, it's such a great movie. Definitely the best of the three, no question.
Noodleman Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 Yep, first, based on my scan of his filmography I did earlier. I know what you mean. Loved it though, but it was a true headfuck, not just a film with interesting imagery that claims to be one. Watch Mullholland Drive next, preferably right now.

That got on my nerves when she said that and then she says "It's my night" I was like 'STFU! You're wrecking the song!' lol. I've always thought Vanessa looked great in the movies but in this one, she was beautiful, lol. I've managed to get a friend of mine who hates musicals to listen to some of the HSM3 songs and he said it was weirdly good, haha. Royle Family: Queen of Sheba So funny yet so sad 8.5/10
dan-likes-trees Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 Magnolia is fucking amazing. I'm listning to the OST now, One is the Loneliest number <3
Molly Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 Quantum Of Solace I absolutely adored Casino Royale, so I guess it's not a surprise that this didn't live up to it. The little details in a bond film, and the big ones like a decent plot, were missing; I just found it disappointing. There were some stunning action scenes and actually I can't fault Daniel Craig's performance (even though he didn't have much to work with), but everything else was lacking. I just hope they get back on track with the next one.... I want more one-liners, innuendo, a breathtaking opening sequence, an enrapturing bond-bond girl relationship, overall character development, and a good plot that enhances the action sequences. Not much really.
Chris the great Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 Quantum Of Solace I want more one-liners, innuendo, a breathtaking opening sequence, an enrapturing bond-bond girl relationship, overall character development, and a good plot that enhances the action sequences. Not much really. thats gone with to 20th century. were all edgy now. hell, i'm kick a guys face as i type.
Molly Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 thats gone with to 20th century. were all edgy now. hell, i'm kick a guys face as i type. lol, Casino Royale had all that AND edginess!!
Chris the great Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 lol, Casino Royale had all that AND edginess!! yeah, well, you gotta look at the story, after the events of casino royal, hes a broken man. i know my one liners dry up when im down. as for the women thing, the girl he loved litteraly just died. random side story time, a few years ago i was watching harry potter and the chamber of secrets with my family while eating pizza. was at the bit when ginny is lying, apparently dead, harry is standing over her looking gutted, my dad says "go on, while its still warm." i turn round it utter horror that my dad had made such a joke, then see my sister fetch a slice of pizza. fucking best timing ever.

ROFL, that's some really great timing, LMAO!
Daft Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 Marie Antoinette Thought I should check this out after watching The Virgin Suicides. I enjoyed it a lot. I don't think much of Sophia Coppola as a writer (she's abysmally bad most the time) but she has a great eye. 7.5/10

I hated it but couldn't stop watching. I really wanted to like it but it was horrible.

This is the problem with James being in love, it was part of what made CR so spectacular, but I guess it was always going to have a detrimental affect on the next film. Cos as soon as he said I love you, you knew her days were numbered. Edit: Lol at the pizza story!
EEVILMURRAY Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 The Longest Yard I know this was based on a film of the same title [Yes?] however long ago, but I know Mean Machine with Vinnie Jones [which I have on doovde] came inbetween, different form of football but same plot, so I pretty much expected what was going to happen and which characters were the American forms of the British forms I've seen, Doc, Nitro, Monk etc. Plus a few wrestlers having some parts. Despite the fact the words or phrase mean machine had nothing to do with anything in the film, that's what they decided to call their team, which I consider a homage to Vinne Jones and his massive. Not sure if it has much bearing on the original, I can't be bothered to check. However, Courtney Cox had an incredible rack at the beginning. If it wasn't for Mean Machine this would probably get a higher Shabba Rating. However it only gets Seven.

I really wanted to like it but it was horrible. I felt the same about Lost in Translation tbh. I have to be in the right mood to watch one of her films and although Marie Antoinette progressively got worse I did enjoy it. Each to their own though.
nightwolf Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 Transporter Bit cheesy, but I like it ^_^ never got round to watching the second one mind, really should I suppose! 8/10
Jimbob Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 Man on the Moon Second watch of the Jim Carrey classic. Still awesome, and after watching it again i can understand more of the story and the life of Andy Kaufman. 9/10 Tropic Thunder Watched this Saturday, and was killing myself laughing 3/4 of the way through. Stars Ben Stiller, Jack Black, Robert Downey Jr, Steve Coogan and Tom Cruise. Basic story is it is a movie within a movie based on a book about life in Vietnam. 9.5/10
Solo Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 Natural Born Killers Second time I've seen this and I still have trouble seeing why this has been highly rated in some regards. On a technical level the film is terrible, it constantly changes angles, colours and even film stock. I know it is trying to get a message across about the media glamourising violence and all that, and there were elements which I found fascinating and entertaining, but it was buried under such an amateurish and inconsistent production. I put Oliver Stone squarely in the overrated department. 4/10
jayseven Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 You might be in danger of putting yourself in the "I didn't get it" stocks, though. *readies cabbages*
Paj! Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 I've never seen it, but isn't one of big things about it the way it's filmed...?
