Guest Stefkov Posted December 30, 2007 Posted December 30, 2007 Hot Fuzz. Simon Pegg + feet in old womans face = 10/10
Daft Posted December 30, 2007 Posted December 30, 2007 I think that was on purpose, they knew they couldn't relay the message and story of the book, so they just invested in ambience and feeling. The last 20/30 minutes where the woman turns up just reeks. If they just ended it like how it happens in the book I would have been happy. I reckon that was their original intention since what actually happens seems a bit rushed, especially with that random pro-christian message that gets delivered.

Can't say I liked that part, twas boring and pointless but it felt short to me and didnt ruin the rest of the movie. It's not pro-christian, it's more like pro-religion :P

It's not pro-christian, it's more like pro-religion :P Yeah, you're right, it was pro-religion and, like you said, it didn't ruin the film but I though it was a bit of a limp ending.
Tellyn Posted December 30, 2007 Posted December 30, 2007 Also, if the ending doesn't make you almost cry (i.e make your eyes fill up) then you're dead inside. :p 8.1/10 Yep I'm dead inside. I just make cracks about Di Caprio being 'Jack' Frost.
BeerMonkey Posted December 30, 2007 Posted December 30, 2007 hot fuzz watched last night was really good some really funny parts 7.8/10
Ellmeister Posted December 30, 2007 Posted December 30, 2007 What spoilers?!?! I can't see any. I will agree that with the last 20/30 mintues do go a bit downhill, but its still decent. Although there were a few iffy parts such as why Does the lead zombie release the dogs and then not go after Will Smith as well?? And that wall that vermont has built around it wouldn't stop the zombies! What a load of rubbish :p
Tellyn Posted December 30, 2007 Posted December 30, 2007 I Am Legend - 9/10 Fantastic directing and acting on Will Smith's part. I found the part when he went into the video store to be really emotional, you could tell that his dog was the only thing keeping him 'sane' and with Sam gone he just broke down. Also I jumped every goddamn time one of the fricking Hive jumped out. The tension in it was fantastic too.
The fish Posted December 30, 2007 Posted December 30, 2007 I reckon that was their original intention since what actually happens seems a bit rushed, especially with that random pro-christian message that gets delivered. Oh god (no pun intended), did anyone here see World Trade Center? They ruined a very watchable film with the image of Jesus holding a water bottle. Why? Why? It's got no purpose other than to big-up the sense of patriotism of yanks. Anyway... Ratatouille - a great return to form by Pixar after the monumental cock up that was Cars. 8.5/10

It's the country there is not exactly alot of places for the 'hive' to stay out of the sun and there wouldn't of been many anyway because it is the country.
ipaul Posted December 30, 2007 Posted December 30, 2007 Oh god (no pun intended), did anyone here see Ratatouille - a great return to form by Pixar after the monumental cock up that was Cars. 8.5/10 Was Cars really THAT bad? I saw some of it and didn't think it was dire, just standard animated film fare - nicely animated but lacking in soul somewhat Also can somebody bump the Most Innapropriate Things To Say thread - I made a situation and no one replied =/
redrum217uk Posted December 30, 2007 Posted December 30, 2007 Just seen I am Legend, hmm it wasn't bad just for me it felt like it never got going. The book is a lot better (as always) and has more to it, should give it a read. The movie left so much out and changed so much, which i think is never a good idea.
conzer16 Posted December 31, 2007 Posted December 31, 2007 I Am Legend Pretty good movie. Really enjoyed it. The ending kinda sucked a little and I missed the first 10 mins as we were late getting there. Overall, it was one I'd definitely watch again. 8.5/10
Oxigen_Waste Posted December 31, 2007 Posted December 31, 2007 Just to follow the trend... I Am Legend First "part" is fantastic. Like... really good, especially for something made in hollywood. Gotta love the Video store scenes. Amazing. Second part felt rushed and was a little too "hooray God" for my liking, but it wasn't that bad. Anyway, the "infected" were shit, they should've used real people, they felt too out of place. The ending was rather nice. Overall, a good movie experience wich I'm sure I'll repeat some day. 7/10 Oh, yeah! Will Smith = teh shit! (In a good way).
Monopolyman Posted December 31, 2007 Posted December 31, 2007 The Bourne Ultimatum One thing tat I admire about the Bourne series is their focus and execution on it's action sequences, and Ultimatum did not disappoint in this area. Great plot as well and Damon was as goos as ever. I prefer the more carefully produced action films like 'Casino Royale' but never-the-less it's one of the better action films of the decade. 8/10 The Bucket List The Bucket List is a sort of 'Dramady' starring Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman as two old men with terminal cancer who decide to write a list of things they would like to do before they die (that's the 'bucket list'), and then follow their dreams they wrote down. It started off pretty intriguing, but it soon dwindled into something predictable and over-sentimental. It had it's moments and I loved Jack Nicholson (as always), but still not a great film. It should have come with a diabetic warning, really. In fact, I preferred the trailer to this film. 5/10
mp3lord Posted December 31, 2007 Posted December 31, 2007 Juno 9.5/10 Very good film, alot more serious than the previews want you to believe. Its almost like they wanted to make you think its like Superbad when it has a much more serious tone. This seems like the type of film that will be nominated for an Oscar for Best Picture.
Bluejay Posted December 31, 2007 Posted December 31, 2007 Was Cars really THAT bad? I saw some of it and didn't think it was dire, just standard animated film fare - nicely animated but lacking in soul somewhat And thats the point. By Pixar standard, standard animated film fare is a monumental cock up. I haven't seen Cars btw and don't intend to. TitanicAlso, if the ending doesn't make you almost cry (i.e make your eyes fill up) then you're dead inside. :p 8.1/10 The ending angers me. Stupid selfish woman killed him. There was easily room for two, even three on that board she sits on.
DomJcg Posted December 31, 2007 Posted December 31, 2007 I am Legend, Honestly i felt more like he was denying God through out, and said that stuff at the end to convince her to go...i also don't think the big 'hive' thing was the hive's leader, i think he was just a slightly stronger verison of the rest of them, still! Cinematic till the end. BUT they annoyed me with "every little thing, gonna be all right" it's like, here's to remind you of his other movies! (shark tale) AND i dislike product placement =/ *points at mac*
ReZourceman Posted December 31, 2007 Posted December 31, 2007 Shameless plug to my 2007 Cinema Review Thread you all voted for and such.
welsh_gamer Posted December 31, 2007 Posted December 31, 2007 Groundhog Day Hillarious and very entertaining. Bill Murray is fantastic in this. The suicide scene's are oddly amusing. 9/10 Home Alone 2 This sequel is just as good as the original. Still makes me laugh 8/10 300 No plot, but loved the style of the film and the OTT violence. 7/10
triforce_keeper Posted December 31, 2007 Posted December 31, 2007 Shall We Dance LOVE this film, obviously it appeals to me instantly as I dance, but I really enjoyed it (2nd time I have seen this, last time I seen it was years ago) 8/10 The Pacifier Enjoyable, story sucked, twist sucked, but the guy was cute to watch, and had some funny moments. 6.5/10
gaggle64 Posted December 31, 2007 Posted December 31, 2007 Die Hard 4.0 There's a good film to be had out of cyber terrorism. This isn't it. Some decent action sequences, yet drowns it all in non-sensical cyber-mumbo-jumbo. Worthwhile if you want to watch something really, truly rediculous. Makes True Lies and Austin Powers look like actual Die Hard movies. 4.0/10
Babooo Posted December 31, 2007 Posted December 31, 2007 Superbad Just finished watching this and I loved it! Definitely one of my favourite movies of the year!!! So so funny in places, characters were brilliant and everything else superb. So much better than the piece of crap that was Knocked up. 9/10
