I'll probably be there on press day (Wednesday) but tempted to book a night there and stay for two days. Oh that's awesome! I can only recommend one more day in Cologne. 1

Happenstance Posted May 21 Posted May 21 Ok I think that should be enough to cover me for a few days after the Switch 2 launches... 2

Ashley Posted May 22 Posted May 22 A while back I did speak about starting a new thread a day or two before (and including a link to this) so that the thread is actually about the console rather than the build up and you have to go through 30+ pages. Are people in support of that? 2 1

RedShell Posted May 22 Posted May 22 Yep, 2 weeks to Switch 2: But... 2 weeks to Mario Kart World!: 3
Glen-i Posted May 22 Posted May 22 Sorry, @Julius. I aleady made a thread counting down the weeks over a month ago. 1
Julius Posted May 23 Posted May 23 I'm that desperate for news on Switch 2 patches/boosts that I dreamt about updates on the official site last night. Man, I need some more hobbies... Dragon Quest III HD-2D will run at a smooth and steady 46fps on Switch 2 folks, you heard it here first 3

I've definitely had dreams of game announcements, not to mention Smash character reveals. I dreamt of Miis in Smash before it happened! My trailer was nowhere near as good as the official one, though. 2

Edit: They nerfed Pile-On. 1

Happenstance Posted Monday at 05:58 PM Posted Monday at 05:58 PM I’ve bought so many Switch games, I’ve got no idea what I’m going to start with when I can play them. I’m in such an rpg mood at the moment and I want to make sure whatever I start with, I stick with and don’t do what I always do and start bouncing between a few. I’ve pretty much doubled the amount since that last photo I posted and more still on the way.

I’ve pretty much doubled the amount since that last photo I posted and more still on the way. If you've never played Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door then I'd say start with that, as it's well worth playing through at least once, but if you already played it on the GameCube then maybe start with either of the two Dragon Quest you have in that last photo, as those are sure to be enjoyable titles. but if you're in more of a retro-styled RPG mood then Sea of Stars could well be a decent pick, whereas Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance feels like an RPG that you'd want to start when you're feeling like playing something with that very specific post-apocalyptic setting. But if the latter is not the case, then just work backwards until you find the RPG from those which has the appropriate ratio of jovial to semi-serious humour that you might be looking for in an RPG. Mechanically, they all seem like sound RPG's, but the only one I can completely recommend is PM:TTYD as I haven't has as much - if any - experience with the rest of the titles, but I loved that game on the GameCube. 1
Julius Posted Monday at 09:32 PM Posted Monday at 09:32 PM Find myself in this very funny No Man's Land with my Switch right now where every time I go to pick it up and play, I find myself thinking "but man, it'll look better on the Switch 2, so maybe I'll wait?", what with Switch 2 only being 10 days away now. 3 hours ago, Happenstance said: I’ve pretty much doubled the amount since that last photo I posted and more still on the way. What else have you added to your pick-ups? Got a lovely collection piling up (shout-out DQXI) I'm almost in the opposite place to you right now where I don't want to pick anything else up purely because I want to know about updates or even just if games will be getting a basic boost over the original Switch version. I'm not even that much of a performance Andy and yet here I am delaying some pick-ups purely because of the potential for them to be more via a boost or an update or a Switch 2 Edition, but I guess also having other current gen consoles does make it a bit tougher to parse I also just have a bunch of Switch games on my shelf anyways and a number of them are already getting Switch 2 updates anyways, so while I think my Switch 2 launch plans are still in flux they are definitely starting to come into focus, but man, it's just such a strange spot to be in trying to fill the void of a big Nintendo first-party single-player game not being there at launch and, despite having so many games on my shelf, and feeling like none of them fit the bill some massive shoes to fill to be fair!

Yeah it’s very possible I’ll go with Paper Mario. Would like something that isn’t too long so I can ease back into reading a lot in games again before I go for a 100 hourer. 1
MindFreak Posted Tuesday at 12:03 PM Posted Tuesday at 12:03 PM A local retailer will be holding a midnight launch event for the console. Even though it's late, I will go there as I have never attended a midnight launch for a console before. Looking forward to it - just a little more than one week left! 3
killthenet Posted Tuesday at 03:37 PM Posted Tuesday at 03:37 PM The Backwards Compatibility page has been updated again and things are definitely moving in the right direction. Currently there aren't any games that won't launch (apart from the ones Nintendo has already highlighted) and according to rough estimates it looks like 70% of games don't exhibit any issues as it stands. About 40 games are confirmed to be getting a patch at or near launch including DOOM Eternal and Ender Magnolia I'm pleased to see DOOM getting an update, I bought it in a sale recently so it'll be great if this patch takes advantage of more of the Switch 2's power 2 1

Every game except Fortnite has their upcoming update detailed as "[an issue] Planned to be resolved via an update"; Fortnite's specifically states that a Switch 2 version of the game is planned, so it doesn't sound like they'll be fixing the Switch version to run on Switch 2, but rather expecting people to play the Switch 2 version of the game, which makes sense. So it sounds like these are just fixes to ensure that the games will actually run as intended rather than an actual update that'll see these games take advantage of the Switch 2's capabilities. Goodness knows what's up with the opening of the first Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster as it's mentioned in one of the other lists despite all the other Pixel Remasters apparently having no issues, but alas Edited Tuesday at 04:09 PM by Julius 1
killthenet Posted Tuesday at 06:48 PM Posted Tuesday at 06:48 PM Oh don't get me wrong, I'm not banking on these patches being full Switch 2 upgrades - it's obviously just sorting out the main compatibility problems - but I'm hopeful that some developers will take advantage of this to at least unlock some graphics or frame rate settings that were capped on the original Switch Especially with DOOM I can see Panic Button going the extra mile with their patch 1
Dcubed Posted yesterday at 05:59 AM Author Posted yesterday at 05:59 AM (edited) The new Nintendo Switch App (replacing Nintendo Switch Online) is out now. Yes, this is the new version of the app that lets you view your automatic photo & video uploads from Switch 2, making it actually useful for the first time in around 8 years. It looks like it doesn't update the existing app properly though (at least on iOS)... I had to delete the app and then reinstall it for it to update properly and replace the old app (probably because the app has a new name now). Most importantly though... You can finally look at your total game playtime within the app itself now! The true megaton feature! Edit: The Nintendo Parental Controls app also got an update (presumably adding Switch 2 compatiblity). Edited yesterday at 06:16 AM by Dcubed 4
