somme Posted November 27, 2016 Posted November 27, 2016 I'm curious to see what happens next. They mentioned base building and freighters around launch time, but anything after this is new. There's loads of potential, tbh. Imagine if you could start up colonies and could recruit aliens to come and live there, for example. I'm guessing ship building/modification will come at some point - hopefully along with the ability to name your ship!
Fierce_LiNk Posted November 27, 2016 Posted November 27, 2016 I'm guessing ship building/modification will come at some point - hopefully along with the ability to name your ship! I could see that coming. I can imagine the game being so much "fuller" later down the line where you can buy more ship technologies, shirt building parts, base building parts, etc. I hope that they keep adding parts as time goes by because that's the sort of stuff that I'd love and would hook me back in.
Ashley Posted November 28, 2016 Posted November 28, 2016 Start afresh and hope for a nicer planet? #2016motto
Ganepark32 Posted November 28, 2016 Posted November 28, 2016 The Foundation Update looks good, probably re-download this and give it a go at some point. Hoping that one of the things they eventually add is the ability to building space probes and send them off to scout other galaxies/planets/moons or even build space stations/defence platforms that you can put into orbit, that would be awesome. Maybe even include the ability to do spacewalks with the latter idea. Only time will tell what we'll get after this but it's looking up for No Man's Sky to say the least.
Rummy Posted November 28, 2016 Posted November 28, 2016 Interesting to see so much activity in here again! Was wondering if anyone still played or had burnt themselves out on it. I'm thinking with Xmas coming and the few quite days/times I might have at home this could be an ideal sort of single player thing that might be idea for some xmassy game feels. Shame I didn't think about it sooner - I imagine this update is going to push prices back up again! I'll see where my finances are soon though and pick it up maybe.
DriftKaiser Posted November 28, 2016 Posted November 28, 2016 Look like they are working on the ground vehicle atm after someone uncovered an interesting folder within the update. I'm excited to build a base at my favourite planet. Have been there for a long time. :/

I'm excited to build a base at my favourite planet. Have been there for a long time. :/ The ground vehicle could be quite interesting if it switches to third person, because then they'll let you see your character - something previously they said you'd only be able to do via another players view
bob Posted November 28, 2016 Posted November 28, 2016 It'll probably just be first person, like the spaceship view.
somme Posted December 5, 2016 Posted December 5, 2016 Some recent pictures of my adventures through space since Foundation:
dan-likes-trees Posted December 5, 2016 Posted December 5, 2016 Some recent pictures of my adventures through space since Foundation: Nice! Genuinely looks a lot more varied than before. Did they add a photo mode? How are you finding it? Wen on holiday a week after release and never played it since. I think I'll hop back after a couple more updates, haven't had my 50 quidsworth yet..

Wen on holiday a week after release and never played it since. I think I'll hop back after a couple more updates, haven't had my 50 quidsworth yet.. They did add a photo mode but it's a bit cumbersome to get to at the moment. You have to go into options to select it. I'm wondering whether this was simply a "quick, shove it in quick before they threaten to kill us for something else," kind of thing, and will streamline it later. It's good fun though, and there is a lot more variety to the terrain generation.

DriftKaiser Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 That's a huge amount of new things in one update. Glad you can own many ships and land vehicles.
Tales Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 Looks great. Before Horizon and BotW I started on the basebuilding. Doesn't look like much yet, but I'm looking forward to get back into it.
bob Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 Meh. I enjoyed playing through it, but i really have no desire to go back. It's a pity because i wish I had these options when i played it the first time.
Fierce_LiNk Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 I was waiting for the second update to hit before I jumped back in. Think it'll be time to explore this game some more.
Agent Gibbs Posted March 9, 2017 Posted March 9, 2017 Tempted to come back to this now, all i want now is a multiplayer mmo like experience, surely they can do that in update 3? i mean i never expected so much over two updates........well they are far apart
somme Posted March 9, 2017 Posted March 9, 2017 i mean i never expected so much over two updates........well they are far apart They were only three months apart. Foundation dropped in December if I recall correctly. Maybe late November. I'd expect another big update around July/August.

I don't think the game is built for that or set up in a way that enables this to happen. That seems to be clear now. There might be ways in the future to "share" more things with other users. Maybe we'll be able to create our own ships in the future for others to buy, for example. It'll be that type of multiplayer.
gaggle64 Posted March 9, 2017 Posted March 9, 2017 Just bought it, won't get to it until after the weekend though. It's currently £13 on the Playstation store, by the by.

Well eitherway, the updates make the game feel worth what i paid now, it was a great game to just waste time on, man if this ever got ported to Switch....my evening commute would be heaven
Rummy Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 Just bought it, won't get to it until after the weekend though. It's currently £13 on the Playstation store, by the by. That's very tempting! I've still got Zelda and Horizon to go next though so I'm gonna wait a bit longer on NMS. I'll probably end up borrowing it off someone rather than buying tbh - but we shall see! How do those who've played previously feel about the latest update; is it adding enough to bring you back or make it feel fresher again?
V. Amoleo Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 Currently £14 on PSN if you're a PS Plus subscriber or the same for a physical copy on Amazon. The new updates are making the right noises for me. I'm thinking about picking it up. Though I'm still torn between PS4 or Steam. Edit: Yeah none of the posts above mine showed up when I first came into the thread so excuse the repeating of the pricing info!
somme Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 (edited) How do those who've played previously feel about the latest update; is it adding enough to bring you back or make it feel fresher again? I enjoyed it from the beginning but they have certainly added a lot of content. Building bases, owning freighters and now driving over planets in rovers is really fun EDIT: And on the PS4 Pro the framerate seems to be 60fps now. Though it does dip on planets with tons of fauna.
