drahkon Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 Yeah but there are enough different types of weapons that balancing is naturally going to be a problem. Naturally that's going to be the most difficult thing for Bungie to get right with the mp, but it's fine since that's not really the focus of the game. Well, I think the balancing was fine. If you have good aim, you win :p But I get your point. It's a problem with all shooters, though. I think, however, that there aren't a lot of weapon types. So far I've encountered only two types of e.g. auto-rifles: one with a 24 mag and one with a 48 mag. The latter one has a higher fire rate but shit recoil. The first one feels generally better. For me it's much easier to score with that one. I guess it's more situation-dependent. They should add some kind of quick load-out switch when you're dead/respawning. You can change your weapon anytime during a match, but you have to open your menu screen.
The Bard Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 C'mon man, stop shooting down my hairbrained theories, I need something explain why I'm so shit at it.
drahkon Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 C'mon man, stop shooting down my hairbrained theories, I need something explain why I'm so shit at it. Sorry. But you should just accept that you suck :p
Sheikah Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 I love having a sniper rifle. Even if it's not as versatile, there's nothing like pulling headshots.
Kaepora_Gaebora Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Many thanks to @flameboy for the Beta code for this however after a good bit of time ploughed into it since Thursday, I don't think this is for me I'm an anomaly really as I own Microsoft consoles but don't like Halo, likewise with Nintendo couldn't give a hoot about Pokemon. However I just felt like I was playing Halo again, it didn't really grab me in the same way, for instance, that the Titanfall beta did...it made me buy the console!! Plus it felt like I'd have to be ploughing many, many hours into this to see the rewards and, frankly, I ain't got time for that at the moment with work really taking off. Great to see so many of you enjoy the beta on here though, I'll be checking the thread out come September, see if your tales can't convince me to give this a shot P.s plus the voice acting was utter garbage as well, Dinklage has been hung out to dry by the director!
Shorty Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 I think it's just a case of Full Auto, Shotgun and Sniper being the only real options for PvP. Some skilled players made use of pulse rifles but handguns, scout and fusion rifles were pretty useless.

He owned pretty much every match with his scout rifle. The fusion rifles...they suck.
Daft Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 I used the handcannon in the Alpha, in the Beta I either didn't find one as good or they were completely useless.
Zell Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 As a Halo vet, I naturally gravitated towards the Scout Rifles but generally found them to be underpowered compared to the Auto Rifles. Maybe I just need to get better at my shooting. Shotguns I've found to be pretty weak, you may as well just use the Sniper Rifle as a shotgun at close range.
Daft Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Destiny's six-player raids can only be played with friends Well this is interesting. We all going to get our raid on, guys? Lets make sure the KNEE group is a well oiled machine.
Sheikah Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Hell yeah. Never seen my PS4 friend roster so strong, Sony have done a really good job of convincing people to get their console.
Daft Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Yeah, with cross-platform play out of the question it was always sad that we were split between 360 and PS3. So many people on here have picked up a PS4, it doesn't feel like a problem anymore. Can't wait for some Destiny game nights.
drahkon Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Oh, this will be awesome. We'll need a "Destiny Raid Thread"
MadDog Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Haven't posted in ages, but the beta has got me so hyped for this game, honestly cannot wait. I'm pretty shy when it comes to speaking online, but this just looks insanely fun.

Fierce_LiNk Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Same with me. Especially when talking English to foreigners. :p We should all learn German. Or Leeds-ish. Yorkshirespeak.
MATtheHAT Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Yorkshire I can do. A tha comin darn t' pub thee?
liger05 Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Tried the beta and thought it played well however the missions are far too short plus the beta being near 30% of the content doesn't really tell me this game has a lot of content left.
Daft Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 I don't think it's as simple as that. This game is meant to be updated daily, weekly and monthly. A lot of the content won't even be available until the story is done. Tbh, I played the beta for over 15 hours. That's more than a lot of whole games.
Cube Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 I don't think it's as simple as that. This game is meant to be updated daily, weekly and monthly. I've seen this promise so many times, but even subscription-bases MMOs can't seem to stick to that.
Hero-of-Time Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Tried the beta and thought it played well however the missions are far too short plus the beta being near 30% of the content doesn't really tell me this game has a lot of content left. For me there's more to it than the missions. When the moon level appeared I cleared it pretty quickly but then went back and spent ages just walking around the place, generally just taking in the sights and seeing what new things I could find.
Daft Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 I'm not really expecting the world of that - although I do trust Bungie more than anyone with this. The Skulls in Halo show that they know how to implement good modifiers that just need a flick of a switch to turn on from their end. I'm guessing there will be a lot to the 'post-game' stuff. To the point where that's where the meat of the game really is. DESTINY: THE ENDGAME IS ONLY THE BEGINNING – IGN FIRST
Sheikah Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 You couldn't even get everywhere on the planets in the beta, so we've not even cleared one stage yet.
CoolFunkMan Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 Probably slight spoilers here (maybe), but this sounds cool: http://www.vg247.com/2014/08/01/see-the-destiny-betas-best-keep-secret-the-seraphim-vault/ Also, this sounds like a really cool idea. You can actually get your character to level up beyond level 20, but need something called "Motes of Light" to progress after reaching 20: http://www.vg247.com/2014/08/01/destiny-level-20-character-growth/
