Chuck Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 (edited) L.A. Noire is a third-person, post-war murder mystery set in 1947 Los Angeles. It is being developed by Team Bondi, an Australian studio, and is being published by Rockstar Games. Although it is fully funded by Sony Computer Entertainment America, it will be released May 20th 2011 on both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The impressive cast includes: Aaron Staton (Mad Men) Sean McGowan Alexa Alemanni (Mad Men) Cutter Garcia Andrew Connolly William Duffy (The West Win) John Noble (The Lord of the Rings, Fringe) Keith Szarabajka (The Dark Knight) Ned Vaughn (Apollo 13, Frost/Nixon) This features the best facial animation I've ever seen, as seen in their "technology behind performance" video (the short John Noble opener blew me away). That video (must see) and the trailers can be seen here. Edit: Here's the same video on YouTube Edited January 28, 2011 by Chuck
Daft Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 I refuse to give this game a chance until the spell 'Noir' correctly.
FireMeowth Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 'Noire' is also correct, you know. Anyways, I'm definitely looking forward to this game. o,o
system_error Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 One of the many reasons why a Wii only gaming setup is not enough nowadays.
killer kirby Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 Why hasn't anyone posted the new gameplay footage of what looks to be the GOTY for the HD system!? http://www.rockstargames.com/lanoire/videos/ Looks fucking incredible!
Murr Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 Why hasn't anyone posted the new gameplay footage of what looks to be the GOTY for the HD system!? http://www.rockstargames.com/lanoire/videos/ Looks fucking incredible! That's just un-real, really looks awesome. this game continues to be of higher importance to me then majority of other 2011 game releases. [gta-fanboy]GTA with that game engine and mechanics would be the sex[/gta-fanboy]
jayseven Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 Loving it. Really glad it's not all-out action, just hoping the point-and-click spawn of an investigative game works well too. Visuals are astounding, obv.
Jimbob Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 One of the many reasons why a Wii only gaming setup is not enough nowadays. Indeed, i felt that just owning a GC back in the day wasn't enough in places. But, thankfully now i own both a Wii and a 360. Best of both worlds here, and i don't miss out on every game. Back onto the subject Watching the footage, and a behind the scenes video on Gamespot i have to admit, this game is looking sweet as. Probably one i'll pick-up at launch, providing i get a job and some fundage.
The Peeps Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 I wouldn't normally go for this kind of game but it just looks so well-made I'm sure it'll be awesome.
Shorty Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 Visuals are astounding, obv. I think I might be alone on this one but I think visually this game looks a bit... meh. The lip sync is obviously fantastic, but the character models, cars and buildings all look so plastic to me. I think it has a lot to do with the lighting. It looks half a generation behind RDR or even Mafia 2 to me.
Solo Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 I agree with you about the plasticy-ness and the frame-rate is probably gonne be reeeheealy inconsistent. But like Mafia II I believe it'll look a whole lot sexier on PC. Oh wait...
Magnus Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 That cover just makes me want to go watch Mad Men.

heroicjanitor Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 The facial animations are amazing Some of the faces look a bit disconnected from the bodies though. Although it is fully funded by Sony Computer Entertainment America, it will be released May 20th 2011 on both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. That is weird. They probably thought the ps3 wouldn't recoup their investment by itself.
Ellmeister Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 When my friend showed me the trailer I was shouting, MATT PARKMAN FROM HEROES. Didn't realised they'd based it on actual actors.
Cube Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 Am I the only one who thinks the faces are creepy and out-of-place?
heroicjanitor Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 Am I the only one who thinks the faces are creepy and out-of-place? Some of the faces look a bit disconnected from the bodies though. Nope :p It hopefully won't affect my enjoyment of it.
Dan_Dare Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 When my friend showed me the trailer I was shouting, MATT PARKMAN FROM HEROES. Didn't realised they'd based it on actual actors. Didn't pick up on 'him from Mad Men?'
Shorty Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 Am I the only one who thinks the faces are creepy and out-of-place?It's the Uncanny Valley
Ellmeister Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 Didn't pick up on 'him from Mad Men?' I would have if I had seen Mad Men.
Magnus Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 Didn't pick up on 'him from Mad Men?' Haha, I was going to comment on his bad taste in television.
Tellyn Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 I finished Red Dead Redemption the other day, now I'm super-hyped for this. As a heads-up, HMV are giving away a copy of LA Confidential on Blu-Ray (plus an extra case to solve, I think) when you preorder this.
