Been thoroughly enjoying and working my through each episode going through each disc. To my utter dismay, I open the case for Season 2 Disc 2, and it's missing! Can't believe it, I have definitely not lost the disc, it just wasn't there to begin with. So when I ask my parents where they bought it from.....HMV. As I got one when I opened my first account, I still find it odd that some banks give their customers debit cards that aren't accepted everywhere online. HSBC gave me a debit card, where the only place online i could shop was Game. Amazon didn't take my orders, neither did Play. Then Game stopped taking my card, so i spent 1/2 in the bank asking for a better debit card. Which i got. Now i got one of them Visa Debit cards, the new one. Accepted everywhere (sometimes not Game though) I use GAME's online store for games. I recall my parents got me the Rocky box-set for Christmas a few years back, but i already had the set. So took it back to the store they got it from reciept in hand. And they told me in quite rudely that they don't do refunds but they will exchange it for the item i had in my hands (a CD at the time, costing £7. Boxset at the time cost £30). I learned from growing up to treat those as you'd expect to get treated, so i went rude on them. I stopped saying please and basically demanded a refund. Lucky for me, the rest of the queue wanted to return items and got in an arguement with the staff as well. All got refunds as well. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Never quite understood the mentality of sticking with a shit bank that gives you a shit card. No bank charges for taking money out of debit cards (I'm excluding shitty shoehorned telebancos in clubs/newsagents that do charge because that's independent of the bank). Even so if you don't want to switch then don't, just open another account with someone who WILL give you a decent debit card and use them for online purchases, transferring/depositing money when needed or keeping a small amount in it topped up for when you need it, in that event I'd recommend your nearest bank/building society who does decent accounts as you can do easy cash withdrawal from your main and deposit to them, rather than waiting for 3 day transfers etc. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Maybe we will eventually see them cutting out retailers entirely and distributing their products themselves Actually, consider companies that distribute their own wares on the highstreet - sony shop, bbc shop, disney shop... they tend to actually have higher prices for their wares. The idea is that they offer a wider range of their products than other stores while also offering specialised customer service - but if they were to undercut their distributors, then their distributors would simply refuse to stock their wares. It's pretty silly, really, but it's similar online - direct from bbc's store is more expensive in most cases than ordering from play or amazon. I heard on the radio that it's mostly waterstones that'll be taking the brunt of this '60 store closure' figure, which actually bothers me far more. I don't mind about the condition of my games/dvds because largely they are of a decent standard even second hand. Books, however, are a bit more finicky, especially second hand. Books offer a different purpose mind you - most books are bought (just a guess) as people are setting off for their jouneys, on trains and mostly at airports. What would suck would be if WH Smiths ends up with a high-street monopoly on books, because they're shit. RE: Topic; I don't care. Internet ftw. HMV in brighton won't be closing as it's (probably) one of their flagship stores. Similar to the sheffield one - they are monopolising the market there and that store specifically is unlikely to be contributing to the losses... losses of profit. They still made 40-60m PROFIT ffs. Arnieboy Posted January 7, 2011 Share Posted January 7, 2011 (edited) Nothing beats going into HMV and going to the rock section and picking up something that you'd never be able to get in any supermarket or even Woolworths when it was around. The only other place i've been to that could match it was MVC and well, they died 4 or so years ago. Record shops have pretty much all died out now and HMV is pretty much the only shop where i can buy the music i love and not all the current crap from Tescos. Even places like Great Yarmouth where 5 years ago there was something along the lines of 5 or 6 record shops down Regent Road, only 2 are left and i doubt they'll be there for much longer. Obviously you can buy pretty much anything online but it's not the same as going into a record shop and you also have the added risk of it getting lost in the post and that agonising wait for it to arrive. HMV isn't too great on getting things to you quick in that regard, i ordered 4 CDs a week ago and only one has turned up so far (all ordered at the same time). If HMV dies i will have to do all my music shopping online and my christmas shopping too as i get loads out of there each year. I won't complain, because I get to buy everything online from your country (hooray for EU, they'll drive us small countries to the brink of poverty eventually, but at least I can get my games/DVDs/books/CDs without feeling like I've been robbed). Which is why I never shop on the street anymore. Ever. Only for clothes, really. HMV sucks, though. And apparently they're even worse in store than they are online. Wowzers. Interesting, I'd imagine that Dublin would be much better as it's the capital. Do you mean it's patchy all over or just in the little sections like jazz/metal etc. I think the fact that not many people buy CD's from the jazz section also helps :p You go to the Limerick one right? Ya it's ok but their gaming prices are all over the shop( no pun) occasional good movie deals at the front though. Yup, nothing better! :P I either go to the one of Cruiser's Street or the one in the Crescent which is just as good. I never buy/look very often at games so I can't comment there. Don't most online retailers use places in Guernsey and Jersey to avoid VAT, thus passing on the saving to the consumer?
