MoogleViper Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 TV license can GTF. They can't do anything unless they catch you watching live tv. Only way they can do that is by seeing from the street (and being able to prove it's live tv) or coming into your house. They can't come into your house unless you invite them or they have a warrant. They can't get a warrant unless they catch you watching TV. It doesn't just have to be live TV anymore. You need a TV license to watch BBC programmes on iPlayer, live or not.
Naar Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 (edited) I think "primetime television" is absolute garbage. Especially on commercial networks. Way to much breaks, adds that jump into screen when Bond is just about to hussle some hottie. A dozen versions of "Idols". If channels like Discovery and/or History Channel finds something that catches on, they put out 5 shows with that same topic, milk it for a few years, never to look back at it again in the future. I have a TV, but when its not on HDMI 1, 98% of the time i watch the regular Comedy Central. All reruns of shows i like. But most of the time its audio/visual wallpaper for when im roaming the internet. Everything worth while thats broadcasted on TV will eventually find its way to the internet. Also, not having friends does have a few positive sides: i dont have to watch a shitty tv program, "because all my friends are watching it and if i dont watch it also, i cant talk about it with my friends". Friends can be replaced with something like "collegues", or just simply "peers". There will be a moment in the near future where i unplug the tv from receiving regular channels. I'll just use the TV as a 2nd screen and watch Boogie's super unsexy face while lying on the couch. Edit: something maybe worse: Its almost through, not quite yet, but it seems that state regulated weed growing will become a thing in The Netherlands. If this is real, it will mean 15 euro's/gram for probably shitty or thc capped weed. D: Edited February 21, 2017 by Naar
Raining_again Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 I'm fed up. Had a kidney infection a month ago - because of this i had to come off the meds that control my psoriasis, so im currently in a big flakey weepy old patch of relapse. I wanted to bleach my hair but i've got a big weeping sore above my ear which i wont be able to avoid. Found a job that I would bloody love (data analyst) which I have the exact experience for but theyre asking for RSA which is a bloody letter typing qualification. I'm applying anyway so I get practice at trying to meet the criteria but I know I won't be selected.

Tomorrow is finally my appointment to a London Hospital, after 3 months of calls, letters and faxes I can finally see a specialist about my "conditions". I'm both terrified and relieved to finally get the ball rolling on this again.
Happenstance Posted February 23, 2017 Posted February 23, 2017 Getting pretty windy outside at the moment with this storm. Our power has just gone out so I'm hoping it's just a quick one and not a line down.
Blade Posted February 23, 2017 Posted February 23, 2017 So I felt really ill on Friday and was sent home from work. I have a rash on my knee which has become infected. The infection has spread up my leg, into my groin and lymph nodes. I was in A&E yesterday and was put on a drip. I'm going to have more treatment today. I feel a lot better today but my leg remains very painful. I ended up having severe cellulitis and septicaemia. I was on a drip for 6 days but now recovering at home. Its really frustrating. I want to go to the gym and go out running which I obviously can't do. All of my progress will be lost.I've also had to tell my mate I can't fly out for his stag do. The only plus point is that i'm off for when the Switch launches. Every cloud and all that.
drahkon Posted February 23, 2017 Posted February 23, 2017 Its really frustrating. I want to go to the gym and go out running which I obviously can't do. I know that feeling...I've gotten a gym membership mid January. After two weeks of exercising I got a cold. I thought, "just a cold; a couple of days and I'll go back to lifting". Yeah, no...I'm still coughing when I try to exercise. Up to the point at which I have to stop... My doctor said that it was most likely a bacterial infection instead of the common cold and the coughing won't stop for another week or two. Hope you're feeling much better soon and can go back to your routine : peace:
Ashley Posted February 23, 2017 Posted February 23, 2017 Turns out I have tonsillitis. Feel bad though because I went to a place advertised as a walk in centre (by the time I thought I should get it checked out my GP was closed and didn't want to risk missing an emergency appointment on a Friday) on the internet but was actually an A&E department. Which I guess you could also walk into, but had I known I'd have gone to a place I know is actually just a walk in centre.

S'what they did last time I went in with it. Apparently (this was checking the/a NHS site around the time) you've got to have about 6-7 diagnoses cases of it in a year for them to consider taking your tonsils out. I thought I could've swung it in the first try. Gutted.
Ashley Posted February 26, 2017 Posted February 26, 2017 That and paracetamol for the pain. It's all I really wanted and is working. My throat now feels like there's just a mild lump rather than 1000 flaming knives. Although the schedule for it is a pain in the arse. They say two tablets four times a day, six hours apart. Also need to have them an hour before food or two hours after. As I want to sleep more than six hours I'm not doing it quite as suggested, but my daily schedule now involves a tablet at 0630, 1145, 1700 and 2215 which gives me 1245-1500 to eat lunch and 1800-2015 to eat dinner. Don't like being this regimented.
Happenstance Posted February 26, 2017 Posted February 26, 2017 Looks like Bill Paxton has passed away
Raining_again Posted February 26, 2017 Posted February 26, 2017 I've had about 6 episodes of tonsilitis (over a number of years), as well as a serious event ending me up in hospital, AND having immune risk/ infection risk. Still haven't had mine out. Next time I'm ill with it i'm going to press the matter. Thankfully since the glandular fever and hospital admission I've not had it again, asides the normal cold type throat symptoms.

Thankfully I've never had it since I was a child and initially assumed it was just cold symptoms until I looked in the mirror.

Thankfully I've never had it since I was a child and initially assumed it was just cold symptoms until I looked in the mirror. i always thought it was a cold, until the most recent 3 or 4 times. I lose my voice and its had a huge impact on my sick record which is a bit of a pain. If I had any job but my own (call centre) i could probably come to work through most of it.

Yeah I am in a lucky position to be able to work from home if needed. Sucks that you can't Why not try taking something stronger that will work for 12 hours so you only have to take it twice a day and you can sleep 12 hours on end... Because I'm not going to go against medical advice from my doctor... It's a nuisance, but so is life sometimes. Also I don't think I've ever slept for 12 hours as an adult.

Yeah if I had a job where i was more on the pc than talking on the phone it'd be ok. Yeah its a pita but you're right to stick with the advice. I hated having to try to swallow pills with a swollen throat. Hoping you feel better soon Ash, take it easy!
DriftKaiser Posted February 27, 2017 Posted February 27, 2017 Took my working microSD out of my phone for few seconds and it's dead now when I re-inserted it. I moved 10+ apps and old pictures from 2014-2016 into it. Lucky Google Drive got backup of most pictures so I just need to grab a new one and download those apps again. 😑
martinist Posted February 27, 2017 Posted February 27, 2017 The guy at Carpet Ways got the measurements for my living room carpet wrong, it came up 20cm short. Now I have to wait untill Thursday or Friday untill they can get the right size delivered and fitted >_< Fitters did the hall and the bedrooms and the kitchen though. Looks really nice. I'm just stuck with underlay in my living room for now though. Thought I would be moving my stuff in today...apparently not
Naar Posted February 27, 2017 Posted February 27, 2017 (edited) Out of coffee creamer. Damn it. Edited February 27, 2017 by Naar
martinist Posted February 27, 2017 Posted February 27, 2017 Carpet in the kitchen?? Vinyl in the kitchen. Don't put ideas in my head, carpet in the kitchen sounds kinda fun...
nightwolf Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 Vinyl in the kitchen. Don't put ideas in my head, carpet in the kitchen sounds kinda fun... No its not, unless you want to spend the rest of your life with food filled carpet. Yuck.
Rummy Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 I've got a weird kinda kitchen-specific carpety thing in mine I think(came with the house) - not so food stained per se but definitely holds some other mystery stains on it! I've got carpet in my damn bathroom too - whilst it's kinda nice for the feet I certainly wouldn't consider either in the future for when I get the rooms done!

How do you know they aren't food if they are a mystery? Have you licked them?
