Which songs have been stuck on repeat for you this year?

A few for me,

Passion Pit - Moth's Wings (Stripped Down Version) (Can't find it on YouTube)

This Bitter Earth/The Nature of Daylight - Dinah Washington & Mix Richter

The Blanks - Hey Ya!

And...

And I love this,

Depeche Mode - Halo (Goldfrapp Remix)

I know most of those weren't out this year but that's what got going in a loop.

Just recently:

Wishery

and

Joanna Newsom: Good Intentions Paving Company.

but over this year these are probably some of my most played songs:

Vampire Weekend: Cousins.

Wavves: King Of The Beach.

Gorillaz: Super Fast Jelly Fish.

Ariel Pink does music from the perspective of you as a kid sat in your parents car, completely mishearing cheesy rock singles from the 80's. Fantastic.

Animal Collective are rad.

Following what seems to be something of a trend on here:

From one of the best metal albums ever made:

Weedeater are a fantastic sludge metal band, for when you're in the mood to listen to something incredibly weighty, but still with a huge sense of fun.

Still one of my favourite albums ever:

Ones that stick out from my listening year:

Among others. Obviously Janelle Monae and other Laura and Joanna songs apply.

Don't worry, I'm going to do my best of lists come December.

Train - Hey, Soul Sister is definitely my song of the year, if not song of the past few years. Absolutely love this song and if we need to wait another 10 years before (Drops of Jupiter came out 2000 I think) getting another Train song this good I'd be perfectly happy.

Other songs which have stood out are, in no particular order:

Eminem - Not Afraid, Eminem back to form on his latest album

Posted

Avenged Sevenfold - Nightmare

Great song.

Papa Roach - No Matter What

Love this song, amazing lyrics. I had it stuck in my head one drunken weekend.

Powerglove - Gotta Catch 'Em All

Amazing.

Thats all I can think of (and find decent videos for) at the minute.

I prefer choosing songs from this year, just for this thread. Already bending the rules slightly but it was #1 in 2010 (first #1 the decade :p)

It's bad romance - lady gaga :D I'm on my iPod though, so no video.

If I was choose just songs on repeat this year...a lot of Freddie Mercury/Queen, Beyoncé, John Lennon and Edith Piaf :)

Here are two tracks from Twilight Theater by Poets of the Fall

Broadcast Yourself
Audio

Given and Denied

Broadcast Yourself

Change

I could have picked any tracks from that album really, it's just that brilliant, but those two really stand out for me as my absolute favourites and had had some serious play time this year.

The Fountain - Pendulum (Immersion)

Broadcast Yourself
Audio

It's not really 8 minutes (it's only 5) - there is silence at the end on this but it's the best quality version I could find on YT. that said, I wouldn't mind it lasting for 8 minutes.

Absolutely barn storming track on a spectacular album.

And another too - this time we get a video as well

Swoon -The Chemical Brothers (Further)

I find it strangely hypnotic and soothing whilst still being danceable.

Train 'Hey Soul Sister' is the song that's meant the most to me this year.

I think it was a little bit under the radar over here anyway but I found it and loved it, and it then went on to become the anthem for my summer holiday to Florida! :D due to the radio stations over there playing it like once every hour!

Florence' - Dog Days

Lady Gaga - Bad Romance

Tinie Tempah - Written in the Stars

And currently really like Take That - The Flood and Tings Tings - Two Hands

And I think Rihanna on the whole has had a pretty fantastic year.

That wasn't specified. It's what you've been playing constantly this year, not what Radio One has that you've taken a liking to.

Which songs have been stuck on repeat for you this year?

I know most of those weren't out this year but that's what got going in a loop.

Even the topic creator doesn't care.

I haven't heard anything by Train in years. Used to love their music. Didn't know they were still together making music so that's a nice little surprise. Very nice song as well so a thank you for reminding me of them :D

I'll post what's been oscillating out of my speakers/headphones this year later after I have a little think.

That was their first album after having either taken a break or split up and got back together a few years ago. The whole album is pretty good, if not quite samey.

A sample of what I've been listening to, according to last.fm:

Radiohead, of course:

It's an awesome video, you should watch it anyway:

And I'd post the video to this, but it features dolphin-boobs.

Edit: Sod it, dolphin-boobs are go...

I listen to a lot of Stereolab. All their stuff's different, so it's hard to pick a song. This is one of my favourites though.

And I totally pwned the shit out of the last Cut Copy album over the summer.

I'll never understand the adoration that Train song gets. I think it's the fact it sounds like he's shouting at me that puts me off. *shrug* Seems very Jason Mraz/that type of person. Who's fine I guess.

I thought it was shit.

Its the sound of your friend's dipshit dad conjuring every cliche he can and miraculously condensing them into something that's reminiscent of nothing so much as midlife crisis.
