Daft Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 Was just listening to this beautiful song, and was thinking about the 90s. What did you love/hate about the 90s? I love and miss the Digimon Tamagotchi. I'm still amused by the Shit-mon one that you got if you never cleaned it.
ReZourceman Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 What do I miss about the 90's? My innocence.
jayseven Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 I really should keep note. Each time a nostalgia thread comes up I have nothing to add! But thanks for making the thread it's made my mind put its hat on and take a trip down ol' memory lane. Mmm!
Daft Posted November 9, 2010 Author Posted November 9, 2010 Yeah, I had to think hard about the Tamagotchi. The only other thing I can remember that really fires me back to the 90s is this.
Goafer Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 I've still got my Digimon that I got from Happenstance. Still works too. Video collection of reasons why the 90's was rather rad:
The Peeps Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 I miss spending the summers at the park with my best friends in primary school. We all lived so close around a park and we'd go there every day and muck around. When the N64 came out we'd play a bit of mariokart, diddy kong and goldeneye too. I miss waking up extra early before school just to play mario 64, goldeneye or smash bros with my brother. Nowadays I rarely get up before 12.
Shorty Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 Lately I've been feeling that I missed the time when we weren't all connected by the internet. When the answer to everything wasn't just a google away. When you had to go outside more, because there were no options to socialise without leaving your computer chair. The world felt cosier then, more individual, more relative. Also, POWER RANGERS YO.

Goafer Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 Lately I've been feeling that I missed the time when we weren't all connected by the internet. I miss the time before the internet. There were two ways to find out what the latest toys were: Adverts and actually going to the toy shop. Lusting after toys in a toyshop is so much better than lusting over pictures of them on the internet (probably). I miss throwing myself down hills on my bike/Rollerblades with blatant disregard for my own safety. Back then there was hardly any traffic in our little village so cars were a rare sight. I also miss camping in my friends back garden. Gameboys and shandy were the only things we needed. I recall a friend stumbling around the outside of the tent proclaiming "I'm drunk!" and then tripping over a tent rope and ripping it from it's moorings. Good times. The owner of the tent was less impressed however. I love before texting each other to come out, when it was going to knock on each others doors and you weren't quite sure they were in. I was always scared shitless that my friends parents would answer the door. I was a nervous child...
Paj! Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 I laugh everytime I see this. Other things that are obviously great like Batman TAS and X-Men aren't included because they're timeless.
heroicjanitor Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 So many things from the 90s... I remember when the pokemon craze first started and people were fighting over the best starter pokemon(squirtle obviously) and then a few weeks later everyone discovered the cheats and the battles became filled with lv100 mewtwos and hyper beams. Got my first console, the snes, and kirby's fun pak(incidentally one of the greatest games ever made). So many tv shows, especially the ones paj has. The movies Disney used to make like Aladdin, the Lion King and Hercules... I miss the 90s There was a lot less filth and a lot more uncreepy love.
Murr Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 The 90's were awesome, Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince - Summertime.... it's the song that reminds me of the 90's most! obviously more so Summer in the 90's. and towards the end of the 90's The Offspring - Pretty Fly (for a white guy) another song that reminds me of the 90's and again more so the summer's god damn I miss having NO responsibilities other than school / homework.

Ramar Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 I was always scared shitless that my friends parents would answer the door. I was a nervous child... Snap that, especially if it was a new friend and you were knocking for them for the first time. Not only were you thinking "shit what if their parents answer" you were thinking "shit, what if this isn't even their house". Good times.
jayseven Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Haha yes! I remember cycling to a new friend's house. he had told me his address at school, something like 23 Ashburn somethingorother, with some vague instructions. I was sitting outside this house for at least 20 mins. I was knocking on the door and ringing the bell and all sorts. I even tried next door, and no response, even though I'm fairly sure I saw a curtain flutter. I ended up having to cycle over to another mate's house to get directions. Turned out I was sitting at 23 Ashburn Crescent, literally 30 yards away was Ashburn Close. D'oh!
Arnieboy Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 The 90s were a great decade for me. 16 bit gaming, good music, good films, adverts, pre-internet and later on the classic dial up noise became a common sound when internet did start to take off. But the 90s also did bad things, such as shape up how terrible mainstream music would become (i blame the spice girls *shudder*) and spawned the internet's march to power, which whilst good in many ways, effectively killed off many record labels, record shops and helped put the nail in Woolworth's coffin.
Jimbob Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 (edited) 90's, ah yes. My personal favorite decade, of which i can split into several different categories. A classic decade which gave us such TV classics as Yeah, they were some awesome TV shows right there. It's a pity none of them seem to be shown anymore, but i do remember seeing Kenan and Kel re-runs on Nick occasionally. And those in the 90's would remember these They were excellent in my opinion, some of the best candy to have ever graced my mouth. The 90's was also when WWE (or WWF) was at it's best, it's not that good no more. Still watchable and enjoyable, but never again will it grace the 90's "Attitude" era. The movies, well they were great. I mean, the classics like Well, thats 2 of a huge list of classics from the 90's. I could list them all, but i'll be here all day. Music, well the 90's pop was excellent. Until the Spice Girls came along that is, jeez they ruined a lot of people's taste in music. Not mine though, because some of my music tastes are still fresh today. Including this number But, i say the Spice Girls ruined the music tastes of many. But, it also introduced me to some of the cack. This, i think introduced us to a new low. I know Aqua had Barbie Girl, which was just............ no i won't say the word that best describes it. But this is lower than Aqua. And probably started the trend into the 00's. Words cannot express my thoughts at this time. But, with all these classics (and not-so-classics) there were the Summer's. Which were the best Summers you could ever hope for. School broke up, and it was the longest time before more School. I remember building tree-houses and hanging out with mates all day long, right up until the sun went down. It was practically from Sun-up to Sun-down. I have some fond memories. And, yes i do remember when you actually had to use a land-line to call your friends to arrange stuff with. When you had to physically go round their house and see if they were in, none of this texting and e-mailling lark of today. Still, the 90's were awesome. And i'll leave you to enjoy the above. Jimbob Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 Yes, lets ignore it came out in 2000. Made a modification as well.
nightwolf Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 Oh gosh neon nerds I used to eat them by the bucket load.
Dannyboy-the-Dane Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 Since I am already notorious for having "bad taste" on these forums, I might just as well admit that I like the Spice Girls, Aqua, Cartoons and the like.
Wesley Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 I have some nerds sitting on my desk right now! (I ordered some American sweets last week.)
