david.dakota Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 It seems there's more vehicles in this than originally feared... excellent.
RedShell Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 Still no parachute though Skydiving is definitely in though according to the Eurogamer review: it seems that a squirrel suit is actually a piece of sky-diving equipment. It's an extreme-sports onesie with flaps under the arms and legs to slow your descent as you plummet from the clouds. So the wingsuit/squirrel suit must also have a parachute, if not that would be cruel.
Hero-of-Time Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 Here's the main theme from the game. Also... We mentioned this during out live-blog of the Donkey Kong Country Returns panel, but just incase you missed that, we found out the developer behind Pilotwings Resort. Believe it or not, the developer is Monster Games, which is the same company that has worked on titles like Excitebots. Seems like a good fit to me! If it's half as good as ExiteTruck then we are on to a winner.
Fierce_LiNk Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 If it's half as good as ExiteTruck then we are on to a winner. Suddenly, I am taking notice of this game. Monster, eh? Gimme Excitesomething. Another ExciteTruck would be brilliant.
Mike Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 Suddenly, I am taking notice of this game. Just what I though...
Ronnie Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 Meh, theme sounds like generic Nintendo/Mario Kart but nice enough
LostOverThere Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 Music doesn't sound all that great, but damn, Monster Games? That's fantastic!
RedShell Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 The music is definitely more Pilotwings 64 than Pilotwings, but I was expecting that anyway. I wasn't however, expecting Monster Games to be the developers! Very interesting...
dazzybee Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 Ngamer said they got 80 odd stars out of 120 odd stars in 1h 45m.... Oh dear oh dear...
James McGeachie Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 ^Were the old games hard at all or easy too? I always hear about them being like calm, relaxing experiences so I assumed they weren't stressful nightmares where you struggled to finish challenges.
darkjak Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 This is probably going to be the first game I'll buy for the 3DS. I've wanted a new PW for over 10 years. What I want from the next game: AT LEAST four levels. Return of the attack helicopter, birdman suit and spring boots.

What I want from the next game: AT LEAST four levels. Return of the attack helicopter, birdman suit and spring boots. I guess you're not up to date on this game then... You're going to be disappointed all fronts!

They did offer this calming experience you speak of but at the same time they were quite challenging games. They had a nice balance to them.
Arnieboy Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 Just put a preorder down on this as there really isn't any other game that I want and this is the most interesting til the bigger titles get released. For a launch title it doesn't look too bad at all.
david.dakota Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 Ngamer said they got 80 odd stars out of 120 odd stars in 1h 45m.... Oh dear oh dear... Eeek.... Thats not what I wanted to hear. Not at all. I bet there are no online modes either to pad it out.
Ganepark32 Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 Eeek.... Thats not what I wanted to hear. Not at all. I bet there are no online modes either to pad it out. There's not. Think there's some form of local wireless multiplayer but haven't heard anything on it.
canand Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 I don't now if to buy this game it's hard to decide.
Ronnie Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 The Ngamer review wasn't particularly positive about the game, calling it extremely lazy and lacking any kind of depth. Also, one comment in the review that stood out was that there was no sign of life on the island itself, apart from a few parked cars. So no people at all, which seems a little disappointing, flying around this deserted island won't be quite as fun as doing it in WSR for that very reason.
khilafah Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 was looking well forward to this but cancelled pre-order once I found out about how lacking in content it is. £40 for a game that can be completed in 3 hours is a piss take! shame it wont drop in price either as it is a nintendo published game.
Grazza Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 shame it wont drop in price either as it is a nintendo published game. They do if they're unpopular. I can almost guarantee we're going to see rows and rows of traded-in Pliotwings in a few months too!
Ashley Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 Come fly with Mii let's fly, let's fly away! Yes its short to complete but that doesn't mean there's not more to it. Its a perfect lazy Sunday game but I know this won't be everyone's taste.

dazzybee Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 How can you NOT want pilotwings anyway? Traitor!
