specifically targeting videos of pop singer Justin Bieber

So YouTube seems perfectly safe for anyone who isn't under 14 and female.

Edit: Of course, it's probably best to stay away anyway.

Prank Leaves Justin Bieber Facing Tour Of North Korea

A public vote on the Canadian singer's My World Tour page asked users which country he should tour next, with no restrictions on the nations that could be voted on.

This spurred users of imageboard website 4Chan to nominate North Korea, with the vote now turning viral. There are now almost half a million votes to send Bieber to the secretive communist nation. The contest, which ends at 1800 on 7 July, saw North Korea move from 24th to 1st place in less than two days, several thousand votes ahead of Israel.

Given the fact that almost all citizens of North Korea are denied internet access and there are restrictive controls over all media, it is unlikely that any of the votes have actually come from within the country. A spokesman for the North Korean Embassy in London told BBC News that any application for 16-year-old Bieber to tour would be dealt with by its mission to the United Nations, although the matter would be referred to Pyongyang.

Justin Bieber has been target of a number of internet pranks in recent weeks. Last month, a post on 4Chan urged users to all search for the term "Justin Bieber Syphilis" pushing it to the top of Google Trend's Hot Searches list.

And over the weekend, Justin Bieber videos on YouTube were the target for internet hackers, redirecting users to adult websites or triggering pop-up messages saying that the Canadian singer had died in a car crash.

Google temporarily suspended commenting on videos and issued a statement saying: "We took swift action to fix a cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability." The vulnerability hole was patched a few hours later. His Last FM page was also hit, with photos of the singer replaced by pornographic images.

There have also been false rumours circulating that Bieber had died, that he had joined a cult, and that his mother was offered $50,000 to pose topless in Playboy magazine.

"Let's take some time to answer some crazy (rumours)... I'm not dead," Bieber wrote in just one of his Twitter postings. And last week he posted that "My mum is a moral woman... let's just leave that one for what it is... because that rumour just grossed and weirded me out."

It was bigger than any other sea creature from the same era, and had teeth that proved it was carniverous. There's this thing that you're not familiar with called 'logic' which would work well here.

It's not illogical to assume he could've eaten smaller things.

Imagine if 4Chan ever did useful stuff with all that misdirected energy and time. It'd be like harnessing the Death Star to give everyone a blowjob.

As much as I despise 4chan, if you've not seen anything about Zach Anner then you should read up on it.

US actress and model Lindsay Lohan has been sentenced to 90 days in prison for violating her probation in a 2007 drug case.

A judge in California said Lohan, aged 24, had failed to attend court-ordered alcohol education classes.

The judge ordered Lohan to surrender on 20 July to begin serving the jail term. The actress had been on probation since August 2007 after pleading guilty to misdemeanour drug charges and no contest to three driving charges.

Judge Marsha Revel said Lohan would also be required to enter an in-patient rehabilitation programme after her release from prison. Lohan, who starred in Mean Girls, burst into tears after hearing the verdict.

"I did do everything I was told to do and did the best I could to balance jobs and showing up," she told the court.

In 2007, Lohan pleaded guilty to two counts of being under the influence of cocaine and no contest to two counts of drunk driving and one count of reckless driving. She went to jail but spent only 84 minutes behind bars. She was also ordered to complete a series of alcohol education courses. But she failed to do them on time and missed a number of meetings.

In May, an alcohol-monitoring bracelet was fitted after Lohan failed to attend a probation hearing because she claimed to be stranded in France.

Her lawyers said she was unable to fly back from the Cannes Film Festival after her passport was stolen.

I love how she's still best known for a role she did five years ago.

She'll probably be out next week.

Or if she sticks it all out she'll be out around the time I move to London. It will be like a double celebration :heh:

I'm just wondering...how many jobless people can afford an iPhone? They would have to buy one outright as they couldn't get a contract.

Well people have jobs and lose them, and some people just want to look for a new job whilst still in employment. Not EVERYONE lives on the dole forever.

3 also has a very lax credit score policy

Raoulgate is over. Not much news now other than that one or more shots was fired, Raoul is in an Ambulance and no more officers have been injured.

He reached hospital ages ago and was pronounced dead.

Edit: well, around 6 mins after Dyson posted.

Florida Mother Protests Manga in Public Library

Not-So-Daily Link of the Day: A mother in Crestview, Florida protested the availability of mature manga at her city's public library and claimed her teenage son was negatively affected after picking up a volume from the general circulation shelves. The parent, Margaret Barbaree, said that the manga had adult themes which she described as "graphic" and "shocking." Barbaree is the founder of a citizens group called Protect Our Children, and she presented her case to the Crestview City Council on June 28.

Barbaree told the council, “My son lost his mind when he found this. Now he's in a home for extensive therapy.”

The manga shown to the council to support Barbaree's case were Psychic Academy and "003: The Naked Suicide Girl" according to the Crestview City Coucil public documents. "003: The Naked Suicide Girl" is a chapter in the Gantz manga series. This particular chapter can be found in the first volume from Dark Horse Comics, and the volume is rated for readers 18 or older. Psychic Academy, on the other hand, is rated by TOKYOPOP for readers 13 or older.

The manga Barbaree's son found was in the Crestview Public Library's general stacks. According to the Crestview News Bulletin, Barbaree said her son took the manga from the unsupervised stacks and put it in his backpack. Library Director Jean Lewis said that area was on a top shelf with other graphic novels and comic books not intended for young readers. Council President Charles Baugh Jr. visited the library the day after Barbaree's complaints and said the manga in the separate young adults section were appropriate.

Barbaree has protested the availability of manga before. She collected 226 signatures against the public access of "anime," although the petition was directed at manga. Crestview Public Library did not heed the petition, and a staffer said that some patrons thought Barbaree misrepresented the protest.

"They told us [that Barbaree] approached them at the Christmas parade and asked them to sign a petition protesting pornography in the library," Resource Librarian Sandra Dreaden told the Crestview News Bulletin.

The staff added that manga has been included in the library because there has been a demand for it. The library's website lists a Teen Anime Club, in which patrons aged 12 to 17 meet for one hour on Tuesdays for anime and manga.

How old is this kid because one of mangas is for thirteen year olds? Also crazy that she has put her son in therapy.

I swear to God, it wouldn't surprise me if her son was 16 years old. Overprotective mothers and all... :heh:

I guess it depends on the contents of "The Naked Suicide Girl". With a name like that, it can't be pretty. If her son is, in fact, a little kid, I guess it's more justifiable.

That said, even if everything she says is accurate, banning Manga altogether is silly. Hell, I once saw Kamasutra in the children's section in a store, but the only one responsible is the dick that left it there.
