Nintenchris Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 Your Liberty City adventures will continue this Fall on the Xbox 360, as Rockstar Games has announced Grand Theft Auto: The Ballad of Gay Tony as the game's second downloadable episode. In contrast to Grand Theft Auto IV's seedy biker gang expansion The Lost and Damned, The Ballad of Gay Tony is said to focus on the glitzy "high-end night life" of Liberty City. The second Xbox 360 exclusive episode will put players in the role of Luis Lopez, confirming previous rumors, as his part-time hoodlum duties are supplemented by full-time work for nightclub impresario Tony "Gay Tony" Prince. According to the official announcement, "players will struggle with the competing loyalties of family and friends, and with the uncertainty about who is real and who is fake in a world in which everyone has a price." Grand Theft Auto: The Ballad of Gay Tony is slated to release on Xbox Live this Fall for $19.99 USD or 1600 Microsoft Points. http://kotaku.com/5270673/gta-iv-fabulously-expands-with-the-ballad-of-gay-tony
flameboy Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 Right so personally have no problem with the title but how the hell are they going to market this?!!! EDIT I mean as in surely if its on the TV as the ballad of gay tony, its bound to kick up a stink, how long before it appears in the Daily Mail?!!
Goron_3 Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 That's the best title I've ever heard. Seriously. Day 1 for me!
McPhee Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 Right so personally have no problem with the title but how the hell are they going to market this?!!! EDIT I mean as in surely if its on the TV as the ballad of gay tony, its bound to kick up a stink, how long before it appears in the Daily Mail?!! It's Rockstar, to them the Daily Mail is free publicity. The title will be done on purpose for that very reason
kyletherobot Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 Excellent, sounds like this could be a good laugh. I hope these 2 downloadable episodes actually make it to PS3 someday.
Cube Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 players will struggle with the competing loyalties of family and friends So they're focusing on the worst aspect of the game?
Daft Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 They gayest thing is that it's exclusive. And the game being boring. But this being so unusual, I'd actually have got it.
Ramar Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 Good old Rockstar always pushing the morale boundaries.
Dyson Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Awesome. Unfortunately for me I have yet to pick up TLAD because of both storage and price concerns, but the news that both DLC packages will be available as a standalone disc is news I welcome. I'll probably pick that up.
Dan_Dare Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 you should definitely get it. remember you can delete and re download dlc whenever you want if storage is an issue. this sounds quality anyway. Mafioso's and glitz- niiiiice. Hopefully it's not a retread of old GTA material anyway. They've always been pretty heavy on the Italian slant before- that's why TLAD was so fresh.
ReZourceman Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Loltastic. Think I sold GTA though. Hmmm. Major awesome though.
Gizmo Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Right so personally have no problem with the title but how the hell are they going to market this?!!! EDIT I mean as in surely if its on the TV as the ballad of gay tony, its bound to kick up a stink, how long before it appears in the Daily Mail?!! In the same way that Rockstar didn't deliberately give us full frontal male nudity in the last one.
Jimbob Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 In the same way that Rockstar didn't deliberately give us full frontal male nudity in the last one. So no problems with the marketing then :awesome: The title has more or less sold me for a day one purchase here.
Gizmo Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Wonder if Microsoft knew when they paid the £50m or whatever it was for the exclusivity that they were paying for "The Ballad of Gay Tony".
Dyson Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 I think they knew they were paying for GTA and that's all they really cared about ultimately -and who can blame them?
Sheikah Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Hmm...people still playing this game? I found myself getting tired of GTAIV within a couple of weeks.
Jimbob Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Hmm...people still playing this game? I found myself getting tired of GTAIV within a couple of weeks. It can get tiring, but i return to it now and then mainly going online with it, which is good.
ViPeR Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Well it was obvious it was Luis but that title I really wasn't expecting.
killer kirby Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 Bumping this thread since the game is like coming out tomorrow over here I'm all ready too download the game From everything I have been seeing it's Rockstar at it's best... Debut Trailer Extreme Base Jumping Parachute/Tank Gameplay Things Blow Up Montage Meet Yusuf Amir Trailer Fizz TV And...the greatest trailer EVAR!!! http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/26/new-gay-tony-in-game-anime-is-all-too-familiar/
Ganepark32 Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 See, I no longer have GTA IV (got rid of it last year after it's 'shine' so to speak waned a little) but those multiplayer base jumping games look fun. I can see it being as manic as it was online the first few days after GTA IV's release.
killer kirby Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 See, I no longer have GTA IV (got rid of it last year after it's 'shine' so to speak waned a little) but those multiplayer base jumping games look fun. I can see it being as manic as it was online the first few days after GTA IV's release. They are bringing out a GTA pack that contains 'The Lost and Damned' and 'Ballad Of Gay Tony' on one disk, so you don't have too have the original GTA IV too play those two games. I think they are selling cheap as well on release. I won't be getting it, since I have 'The Lost and Damned' So I am just going to download Ballad Of Gay Tony. Oh and the disk version has another radio station on it that's exclusive to the pack, think it's like Vice City Radio...I think.
Ganepark32 Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 Yeh, I've been thinking of getting the disc version as it does work out slightly cheaper than downloading them from XBL I think (£24.99 so just a little cheaper). Do want to try those base jumping online games because I got a lot out of GTA IV's online multiplayer (including some ridiculously hilarious matches involving only baseball bats for weapons and chasing after an enemy in a car in the hope of killing him, lasting about 2 hours :p). Perhaps this'll be for the xmas list as I don't have a whole lot of money to play with for games in the lead up to xmas.
Jimbob Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 Downloading Ballad of Gay Tony as we speak. I shall report later with my views on this title.
