I wonder how they'll solve the problem of the horrendous background noise mics like this pick up...

Directional microphones and voice isolation systems would be my guess. There are commercial Bluetooth headsets out there with military-grade noise filters in them, so everything is 'currently existing technology', as a Metal Gear game might call it.

Of course there might not be anything special about it all. I suppose we'll have to wait and see.

I guess this could be cool, but I'd probably never use it in our living room... my family will think I'm crazy for talking to our tv in English... >.>;

Maybe it's time for me to invest in a decent tv for my room...

I wouldn't want to come over all anti-nintendo, but i can't really see why this is that great. I'd rather voice chat be more private than have it blasted out to the whole room.

Also this will be perched on top of the TV? How will it react to the speakers which are about 30cm away from the tv? Surly the noise from the speakers would block out any voices being picked up.

Only thing with this I guess is that it might require a fair bit of shouting if you sit a decent distance away from your TV.

Not really. Ever used a conference phone, or put a fairly good cellphone on speaker? It picks up your voice well, but the sounds from the surroundings dissappear quite well. Same here.

I hope CoD 5 will use it.

I was thinking the same, and then think if you have a surround sound system. You'd prolly have to turn the volume down to a point where you lose the experience. FPS's with guns rattling every 3 seconds could mess things up royaly.

But lets hope that if we can see these problems, Nintendo must have found a way round them, they are a multibillion dollar company afterall :heh:

Thinking of these possible issues I still prefer a headset, but if Nintendo can address these issues (and say so in the next two days would be best) then i'll be happy

As I previously stated: that's not a problem on your cellphone when you put it on speaker, right? Noor is it on a conference phone. That's not an issue.

I'm quite suspicious of this tbh. Its bad enough when you've got a headset on and someone comes in my room and asks a random question. If I have this set up I don't think everyone will want to know what I'm having for dinner.

Much prefer having a headset, thats partly due to the PC Gamer in me, and the fact it works well on 360 too.

Errr... The mike's not on all the time. You press a button, just like in any PC game. That you have the submit key pressed while talking to someone else, that's your problem. I myself m happy I won't have to wear any clumsy thing on my head. I have a mic built in to my laptop, and that works brilliantly when I play online.
