killthenet Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 Hollywood megastar of the 1950's and 60's Charlton Heston has died. He will probably be best remembered for his role in the 1959 epic Ben Hur but a lot of sci-fi fans will remember him for his turn in the fantastic Soylent Green and The Planet Of The Apes. In his later years he became somewhat of a reviled figure, for his support for the NRA, but his work as an actor will long be admired. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7332960.stm
jayseven Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 He made an excellent mexican. Don't think I was ever a fan of him personally, but he's probably an all-american hearoh!
The fish Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 Ben Hur suffered from all it's scenes being dragged out for far, far too long. My god, the chariot race! Anyone who supports the NRA as much has he did won't be missed greatly by me...
kyletherobot Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 I just got sent Soylent Green from lovefilm. Haven't seen it since I was about 6. R.I.P. Charlton. A bit of a legend.
Falcon_BlizZACK Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 R.I.P But something tells me future N-Europe VR Forumites won't be making topics for us when we die. :/..."What about us!?"
LukeLee Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 To be honest I was more shocked when I found out yesterday that Neil Buchannon had just died.
Mr. Bananagrabber Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 To be honest I was more shocked when I found out yesterday that Neil Buchannon had just died. That was just a stupid rumour started on Facebook.
Jimbob Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 R.I.P Charlton Heston, a true movie legend who will be missed by all. Thanks for the memorable movies.
Oxigen_Waste Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 R.I.P Charlton Heston, a true movie legend who will be missed by all. Thanks for the memorable movies. Liar! I won't miss him! He'd already passed his good years as an actor and was an asshole as a person, so good ridance.
kyletherobot Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 Liar! I won't miss him! He'd already passed his good years as an actor and was an asshole as a person, so good ridance. I'll think the same of you once your dead, apart from the acting part.
Ramar Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 To be honest I was more shocked when I found out yesterday that Neil Buchannon had just died. You shit me up there, that better not be true.
Oxigen_Waste Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 I'll think the same of you once your dead, apart from the acting part. Great. At least I'm not the only one being honest. And that's the way I feel about almost everyone. Even my two uncles who died. Fuck'em, they didn't mean shit to me. Seriously... death is overrated. No.. wrong... human lives are overrated.
killthenet Posted April 8, 2008 Author Posted April 8, 2008 Soylent Green and Planet Of The Apes were pretty good though, ey? Even if he had a gun grafted to his arm in real life, at least they covered it up in his movies.
Noodleman Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 He made an excellent mexican. Jayseven throwing in a casual touch of evil referance there (or at least I hope it was). I couldnt take that film seriously whenever he was on screen, pretty much the most unlikliest person to play a mexican ever.
Fierce_LiNk Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 Planet of the Apes is one of my favourite films of all time, I'm quite into my Sci-fi. I'm pretty saddened by this. R.I.P. THIS IS A MAAAAADHOUSE! A MAAAAAADHOOOOUSE!
gaggle64 Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 I had mixed feelings about the man. Omega Man was a ruddy good film mind. "Huh. There's just never a cop when you need one."
Oxigen_Waste Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 Aww, come on, his best role was unsidputably in B-Hur!!! That's his magnum opus!
