nekunando Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Just came across this Azurite PS3, thought it looked amazing. Tempted, but I think I might just wait for the Sony Announcement. I'd have to say that while the colour is somewhat cool, I've never really found any model of the PS3 hardware particularly pleasant to look at In fact, despite the original PS1 having a certain appeal, I'm not sure Sony has ever designed a great looking home console.. and that includes the slim models I know it's not really a big deal and everyone has different tastes but if they unveiled the PS4 later that looked amazing with an awesome new controller, it would be a much more tempting proposition!
dwarf Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 I'd agree with Nando. I would actually welcome a more retro toy-like design ala the original Playstation for the next gen system though.
drahkon Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Started Bioshock. Is this game supposed to be scary? My heart beats faster than normal while playing this...
Deathjam Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Started Bioshock. Is this game supposed to be scary? My heart beats faster than normal while playing this... Some moments, possibly. But either way, you are in for a good ride.
Daft Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 I'd say it was tense, more than scary. I hate scary games and BioShock is one of the best things ever.
Cube Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Fuck, now I want to play Bioshock again. Isn't there a new one due sometime this year?
Shorty Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 I grabbed Ico/SoC a while back, and I'm really not feeling Ico at all. Is it overrated? Aged badly? Or should I persevere? Or just forget it and move on to SoC?
Sheikah Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 I grabbed Ico/SoC a while back, and I'm really not feeling Ico at all. Is it overrated? Aged badly? Or should I persevere? Or just forget it and move on to SoC? Nah, ICO is pretty much overrated. SotC is much better.
Daft Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 I gave up on ICO and so never bothered with SotC...might give it a try this weekend though, if that's the case.
Cube Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 When I got the pack I played SotC. Loved it. Tried ICO and gave up pretty quickly. Also, as I promised @Daft, I carried on with inFamous 2 today. Got the burst bolt power and the power where I recharge by hitting people with the bolt. Epic combination. I've just turned on power to the whole of the first island.
dwarf Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 The burst bolt was wicked, as for the the best/most liberating power in the game, that would have to be the ice launch. Sure the tether got you further faster, but you didn't acquire it until late on and it isn't really fun or interactive. Big ice launch advocate right here.
Daft Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 I used the tether once for about thirty seconds before never using it again.
dwarf Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 I swear I remember you saying it was awesome.
Daft Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 The tether? Pfffft, was all about the ice launcher.
ThePigMarcher Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 A bit late to the party but because I've had inFamous 2 sitting on my HDD for months (c/o PS+) I figured it would be worth picking up and playing through the prequel first. Started it a couple of days ago and whilst I wasn't too sure about it at first, now that I'm closing in on finishing up at the first island I'm slowly getting suckered in. Guess that's another advantage of picking up a PS3 really late, in that I still have a massive back catalogue of cheap games to go through/hunt down.
Daft Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 The first Infamous has the slowest build up of any game I've played. It starts off completely meh but by the end it's absolutely magnificent. And then Infamous 2 continues from that point and on that trajectory.
Cube Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Nest PlayStation Plus update: PS3 6th March: Mass Effect 3 6th March: Dead or Alive 5 6th March: Joe Danger 2 Vita 13th March: Metal Gear Solid HD Collection 20th March: Puddle Even though I have ME3, another brilliant update. Especially MGS - I've played the TTS and can't get into MGS4, so this should prepare me for giving MGS4 another try.
Daft Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Really happy about Dead or Alive. It's kind of shit but strangely addictive. Plus tits.
dwarf Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 The thing about MGS4 is that the tiny pockets of gameplay you do get are slow and wasteful. There's about 8 million guns, attachments, stupid CQC manoeuvres and items and techniques, and yet you only really need to use your OctoCamo and a tranquilizer. Areas that look wide open and difficult for stealth can be shuffled through in a simple way, often by tediously skirting around the outside. There are a couple of interesting exceptions but that's literally it for the most part. Drebin's boss stories are pretty good but every other monologue in the game should be skipped or yawned through.
Daft Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 It's more interactive tech demo than game. I reveled in its retardedness, though.
Magnus Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Worth playing ME1 and 2 before 3? Almost mandatory.
