Slaggis Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 One of the kids I babysit is being bullied terribly at school. Because he's got an accent, and isn't white all the kids keep talking to him in an Indian accent (Even though he's not even Indian!) and a few days ago he was beaten up in the locker rooms and had his head bashed against the lockers in the changing rooms whilst some of them shouted stuff like "Paki!" at him. Some of us were on Prefect duty and had to break it up. In the end, he got into trouble because all the bullies said "He insulted us first". Can you believe that? I'm so utterly fucked off. If I catch the guys doing it again, it'll be their head being smashed into a locker, not his.
Dan_Dare Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 that's a fucking disgrace, frankly. you should raise hell.
Slaggis Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 that's a fucking disgrace, frankly. you should raise hell. If I see it happening again, I will do. It's fucking ridiculous that kids that young can be that racist. I mean, on his first day, he got kicked in the head and thrown to the floor. He's such a nice kid, and he's incredibly trusting which makes it even worse.

I assume you've told a member of staff, not just left it till "next time"...
Ganepark32 Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 That's absolutely disgusting. There's no place for racism in school, or anywhere for that fact. But violence isn't the answer to sorting it out, although a swift kick to the balls would sort them out. Anyway, my days has be looooooooong. Sorted out my student bank account and then had to go to uni. Had a psychology experiment, tutorial and lecture. So it was all psychology today. Then I had my stupid buddy group thing. That's the last one as I've had enough of getting home at 7:45pm. So it's been an alright day, just too long.
Daft Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 My day was pretty dull. Work has pissed me off, as I posted on the previous page. Got three tutorials in a row from 9 tomorrow. I've done most the reading. Need to sort out my birthday... not sure what to do. Natural Born Sellers on ITV... Credit crunch TV begins. It's like an EasyJet version of the Apprentice... It's pretty funny.
Slaggis Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 I assume you've told a member of staff, not just left it till "next time"... Erm..read my post. I said the kid actually got into trouble because they said "He insulted us first". So yes I did, but nothing happened.
Paj! Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 Erm..read my post. I said the kid actually got into trouble because they said "He insulted us first". So yes I did, but nothing happened. I suppose, I was obviously just thrown, since usually a teacher would do something about the people that beat him up...or at least every teacher I've known. Were they punished at all?
MadDog Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 Thats horrible, bullies are just retards anyway, somebody doesn't have white skin so there immediately asian and a 'paki', they don't even know the difference between black and asian.

Were they punished at all? Apparently the bullies are "Missunderstood" - they got a quick telling off, whilst the kid was stuck in detention. Fair, huh?
Paj! Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 Apparently the bullies are "Missunderstood" - they got a quick telling off, whilst the kid was stuck in detention. Fair, huh? As a prefect, can't you raise the issue a bit more? Sorry, it just seems like a crime, as it is now.
Slaggis Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 As a prefect, can't you raise the issue a bit more? Sorry, it just seems like a crime, as it is now. One of my best mates is Head Girl and I've explianed the problem to her. She's just told all the prefects to keep and eye on him, which is the best we as students can do.
Goron_3 Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 Oh god racism and bullying are two things that seem to go hand in hand *sigh* The treatment of that kid was bloody ridiculous; surely what they did to him is not justified even by saying 'he insulted us first'. Grrr. Ah what a lame day. Woke up, school, did a 3 hour shift at work and now i'm dead. Oh well, what you gonna do.
ReZourceman Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 Sounds about upto the standards of the teachers I had at my school. Though of course they "prided themselves on the anti-bullying policy". Never heard such utter bull shit in all my life.
Letty Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 Tomorrow there is an event where everyone has to wear something purple to raise funds for a cancer research building type thing here I put a purple streak in my brothers hair, and have made little bits of purple dreadlock and ribbon and things for my own Also today, at work, there were only two of us on, and then all hell broke loose about half an hour before closing. Peole were like, queuing up to the door x.x And of course, the guy who I was working with was new, so couldnt do anything. I actually almost burst into tears whilst trying to do everything and everyone was complaining that it was taking too long, and I was like, ffs- cant you see Im the only person here??
Dog-amoto Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 Have spent most of today and yesterday recovering from a stomach bug I picked up in Tunisia. Had the worst flight home ever! Got to visit the home of Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru in Star Wars though, which was pretty awesome. Weather was shockingly bad - it actually rained while we were in the Sahara Desert. Crazy!

Oh man oh man is like there a sign saying this were the poor bastards got blasted? Did you walk into any bars and ask for a millenium falcon pilot? Oh dam are they allowed to drink in Tunisia or is it strict muslim?
Fierce_LiNk Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 That's pretty awful to hear, Haggis. Only thing you can do is keep pestering the teachers, head of year, maybe even the headteacher. Literally, if you just keep badgering them, eventually they'll have to take notice. Remind them of their anti-bullying policy and their duty to care for that kid. Anyway, I'm a bit bleeeeh. I can't sleep. I had trouble sleeping last night, and I overslept this morning. Just feel a bit sorta confused and a bit fragile at the moment. Keep having conversations with people about the future which depresses me. Its like I'm weighing up "what I want to do" vs. "what I probably can/can't do." I know what I want from life, but I don't know if I'm able to get to that position. And people are always so bluddy negative. Whenever you mention you have a plan or an idea, you always get shot down by the "realists." Well, fuck you! I want to dream. Just because its easy to do one thing, doesn't mean you should do that.
Guest Stefkov Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 Will be going home for the weekend. I didn't want to but it seems I have to. Gah I want to go to London this month aswell. It snuck up so frekin fast.
Twozzok Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 Anime society is cool, apparently they'll be doing weekly showings of Dennou Coil woo.
jayseven Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 Had a looooooooooong day at uni; 9am 'til 4pm. Then went and juggled in various places; manged to get a couple of people to go to the juggle society at 6pm -- including nightwolf! I was very surprised she actually came along. I'm on teh society committee and we were hoping to get, optimistically, 20 people to turn up, and in the end we had around 34 people! Juggling, diaboloing, poiing, staffing, hula-hooping... kanga-stilt-things-ing... it worked out really well. Then we all went to a pub and got free sandwiches... and I went outside for a cigarette and heard some guy on teh phone say... "so he's got blue hair and a ginger beard?" and i immediately said "THAT'S ME!" and the guy turned around and... voila. LAZYBOY! OMG! Dan_Dare joined the fray, and we had some laughs... and in fact we've just finished a rock band/castle crasher's sesh with nami, shorty, moi, dan_dare and nightwolf. You know you kids are jealous. So now I SLEEP and wake up to read Mrs Dalloway in its entirity, and perhaps start the next book. So far I'm up to date/ahead of the reading. My course this year is awesome, though shorty disagrees. yes! Bye!
nightwolf Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 You were surprised I turned up? How could I not come to circus stuff? Do I protray being really boring...? Oh wait I forgot you said I was the most normal person you'd met *glares* My day was ok, went to lectures, got told about writing an essay on context (yup, you heard, luckily most of my class also doesn't understand either..), went shopping, rushed home, showered, went to juggling/hula hooping etc, then pub. I have to say the people who went to jugglesock were actually really cool people, so I'll more than likely go again, was fun and nice to have some friends seperate from uni! Although now I'm knackered and don't think I'll be able to get up tomorrow, if I do it'll be a miracle. ps. I have to say lazyboy is abit of a legend, after all he did buy me a drink! Good man! ^_^
Ganepark32 Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 So yesterday I sorted out my student account with Lloyds after the fiasco of last week where I was told I wasn't getting one from NatWest. So you can understand my disbelief when my mother hands me a letter this morning (it arrived yesterday and she 'forgot' to give me it) from NatWest saying that they have accepted my application for a student account and that it is now active and I should be able to pick up my card et al at my branch in a few days. What the hell? I now have to active accounts and really don't need both. With the NatWest one I'll get a student railcard, or at least I should do but they haven't asked for a photo so I don't know how that'll work, and with the Lloyds one I don't really get anything apart from a £20 for opening with them. However, I've already deposited money into my Lloyds account so I don't have a clue as to what to do. My parents said just to keep both but it just seems stupid and it could result in the accounts being terminated seeing as with both accounts I said I didn't have another account and so I'm probably breeching my terms and conditions on both.
jayseven Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 ganepark; definitely close one. Don't want no hassle. Return the £20 to lloyds, take your money out, bingo bango. I dreamt that I was in a large play-house in the middle of a park. There was an old woman walking her dog. The dog pooed and the woman cleaned it up. Then the woman pooed and cleaned it up. Was not cool. Then I went to a shop, where I became a breakdancing rastafarian. I found these stitches that you'd put in your arm (oldboy stylee) that were used to prove your ID. Thing is I opened the box and there were loads of staples and razor blades and bent needles in there. And spoons! Can't forget the spoons. The store-owner lady wanted me to put it back, so I had to bring all the bits from the box to her till - each trip back I'd realise there was exponentially larger piles of shit that I had to carry. But the longer I took, the more she liked me. She took enough to me to giggle excitedly and show me two air-freshener-type things made from amethyst, one called Coquo and the other called coqua. I asked her is she liked cock. Then I woke up! Woo!

Much fun was had. sadly, I appear to have committed gross self sabotage in turning down a personal request to escort the hottest girl there around town to the next bar come closing time. not entirely sure I can explain that but there you go...
