Happenstance Posted December 14, 2020 Posted December 14, 2020 Yeah I'm just looking for 2 speakers, don't think I need a subwoofer. I'll take a look at the ones you mentioned thanks. Obviously cheaper would be better but if I do the research and find some I really like then I don't mind paying extra.
Dufniall Posted December 15, 2020 Posted December 15, 2020 If you missed them the first time, the 4 SEGA 60th special games on Steam are available for the next couple of days:

Bought/obtained Cities Skylines today and have...probably spent the last 4 or so hours on it. Lovely to get back into it again. Such a great game. Whaaaaaat a massive time sucker, though.
Dufniall Posted December 29, 2020 Posted December 29, 2020 Right, so I've busted another mouse (to be fair this one has lasted quite long), so I'm looking to replace it. My keyboard is still okay-ish but I think I should just get a new set because who doesn't want a matching keyboard and mouse? Requirements are wired, preferably RGB colour LEDs. The set I had now was a pretty cheap set from Cooler Master but it was pretty good. But I don't mind spending a bit more now. Any recommendations?
ArtMediocre Posted December 29, 2020 Posted December 29, 2020 I have the Logitech G502 Proteus Spectrum, and I love it to bits! Wide range of dpi, customizable weights, rgb lightning and great comfort. Can't go wrong with that one. It's a bit on the expensive side, but it keeps on winning "best mouse of 20XX" competitions. 1

I was going to recommend the mouse I've been using, but after some googling it turns out it's this one, so I second this post. 1 1
Dufniall Posted December 30, 2020 Posted December 30, 2020 Thanks! I'm guessing the G502 is pretty popular as it's sold-out everywhere. It's also a bit above the price I was going to spend. Currently I'm looking at the Steelseries Apex 3 and the Steelseries Rival 3. The keyboard is getting good reviews and the only thing that it's lacking is per-key RGB, but it does have 10 zones RGB. The mouse is pretty straightforward. I prefer symmetrical mice, and I never really felt the need for a lot of extra buttons. Still, I may spend a bit more for a better equipped mouse. But this set right now would cost me about €100 which is about what I was planning on spending.

Happenstance Posted January 15, 2021 Posted January 15, 2021 Fuck. The Xbox One pad I bought for my PC has died. Only bought the bloody thing last year.
Happenstance Posted January 17, 2021 Posted January 17, 2021 Put the final touches on the new desk today with monitor arm and vertical laptop stand. Pretty happy with it. 3

Ike Posted January 18, 2021 Posted January 18, 2021 Clean setup, little concern it blocks those drawers but guessing you can just swivel the monitor.
Dufniall Posted January 18, 2021 Posted January 18, 2021 Nice clean desk there @Happenstance. Never saw one of these laptop stands before but I like them, very minimal. Seeing as how your speakers are set, do you work like this or do you swivel the monitor to the center when working/playing? On 15-1-2021 at 9:51 PM, Happenstance said: Fuck. Even with the monitor at that angle there’s plenty of room to open those drawers, bit of a trick of the camera I think. 16 minutes ago, Vileplume2000 said: Nice clean desk there @Happenstance. The monitor gets swivelled depending on my mood. It’s back in the centre at the moment. It was set to that angle initially because I used to have the laptop on a different stand so it was open and acting as a second monitor. Kind of miss having that but it did take up more space on the desk. I’m swapping out the speakers for a pc soundbar so it’s easier to position for a setup that’s moving a lot. Other than that I think I just need to get a new webcam and then it’s done. 16 minutes ago, Vileplume2000 said: Surely this should still be covered under warranty? Not sure to be honest, I’ll look into it. I managed to find the pad with went with my Xbox One that I packed away just last week after hours of searching so at least have something to use for the moment. Looks very nice and clean though, I want to get a similar monitor and arm as part of my home office setup. What models are those two?

I think I probably got used to it from work where I have a curved desk and two monitors. The monitor is an Electriq (not sure on the model number) but it basically gets rebranded in every country. It's known for being one of the cheapest on the market that still offers a pretty good, 100hz screen. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Electriq-FreeSync-Curved-UltraWide-Monitor/dp/B07ZQK5MV1/ The arm is Invision MX450 which is the stronger Invision arm for larger monitors. Pretty happy with it so far. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08B8X4KBV/
Happenstance Posted January 18, 2021 Posted January 18, 2021 One thing I need to get out of the habit of though now is shutting down the laptop fully. Did it last night so this morning I had to take it out of the stand to turn it on. Just looking into setting up Wake On LAN at the moment so I can have my Echo turn it on instead.
Happenstance Posted January 20, 2021 Posted January 20, 2021 Added some back lighting to the desk as I do like it round my tv. Had to rearrange some stuff though as I was reading yesterday that some Razer laptop screens start to get damaged if you use them for too long while closed. Shame I lost the extra space and more minimalist look but a second screen is always helpful. Looking forward to getting my soundbar so I can get rid of those awful speakers where the wires don't reach long enough to get one the other side of the desk. Also left some proof in there that I actually do sit down just for bob. 2

Happenstance Posted January 20, 2021 Posted January 20, 2021 Anyone know any good top loading usb hubs? Looking to attach one to the desk but so many these days are those short wire laptop ones with the ports on the sides.
Happenstance Posted January 21, 2021 Posted January 21, 2021 Selling my RTX 2060 Super Mini so if anyone is interested then let me know. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/324459634287

Also depends on how many ports you want and if you want only USB-A or also USB-C on it. https://www.amazon.co.uk/s?k=anker+usb+hub&rh=n%3A340831031%2Cp_89%3AAnker&dc&qid=1611221744&rnid=1632651031&ref=sr_nr_p_89_1 Ewent also has some top loader ones. Curious by the way, what do you use for the green ambilight there? 1
