mcj metroid
Inspired by this list http://computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=153510 Do you agree or disagree and what are your worst ending experiences?
fanman
The only one of them that I've actually completed is MGS2, and I disagree with it being on that list. I like the MGS endings...
mcj metroid
i agree with fable but not really super mario bros.I mean they are trying to give you a reason to play on
darksnowman
Nice thread! Ive not checked that CVG list but heres one that springs to mind: Forsaken. Its an N64 game, what was that game all about?? And the ending, what a lot of rot. Ill check back with more if and when I mind em.
Hero-of-Time
I agree with Perfect Dark being on the list but not MGS2. The MGS series have some of the best and most meaningful and deep endings for any games and movies for that matter. Its not just a game ending where the hero saves the day but a game ending which makes you think.
Stocka
Shenmue II has a fantastic ending, but I HATE it because it leaves us fans waiting years in pain.
Emasher
harry potter2 gamboy advance had almost no ending and no end game bonuses. served me right for playing a movie game
gaggle64
I watched a friend play the final section of MGS2 and I can honestly say it deserves it's place on that list. What the hell was all that blurry slow motion people fading in and out and rolling stock footage guff about? And my god, the monologue: it just went on and on with no substantial conclusion to it. To quote the popular animated character Peter Griffin: "What the hell is this? My god, somebody throw a pie!"
mcj metroid
i didnt think much of the metal gear solid ending but that was mainly because i didn't understand it.the first one had one of the best ever.In fact 2 of the best ever.....Except when he says 'my name is david'
LazyBoy
The Perfect Dark ending was awesome. So what if it was different to Goldeneye, it was doing stuff its own way. Also disagree with Shenmue II. Granted the ending was a little anti-climactic, but the story isn't at its climax yet, so just wait. Plus there was... The end of climing the building, with the helicopter, and the fight on the rooftop. Wind Waker's ending was a little disapointing, and I think Resi 4's end boss should have been better. Jade empire, but that was overrated anyway.

It's the sheer nature of them that makes you panic and feel scared by them, by really they're not really to difficult whe you know what to do. Also, WW had a crap ending. Zechs Merquise
i didnt think much of the metal gear solid ending but that was mainly because i didn't understand it.the first one had one of the best ever.In fact 2 of the best ever.....Except when he says 'my name is david' Metal Gear Solid games are ace, but lets face it the plots reak of someone trying to be too clever, and they never really expalin what is going on. Perfect Dark defo deserved to be in there. After a superb beginning all that alien crap ruined it for me. As for Mario Bros being number one... no way. It was made in a different era. There are so many games from back then that end with a single screen. We expect more now, but back then it was cool. The worst ending for me was Killer 7, because the whole game, although I loved it, never really explained what was going on. It never really told you why or how, and the end just added more confusion. The guy who came up with that story line wasn't a genius, he was a shit story teller. He may have understand what he was trying to get at, but no one else did.

Yeah completely, I mean the troll was piss easy to beat, but all i'm saying is... I shouldn't be looking at the final boss of one of the greatest games of last generation* and thinking "pfff, I can take that." The thing should have been 100ft tall with the legs crushing buildings. *Disagree? You're wrong
fanman
Also, WW had a crap ending. What was wrong with windwaker's ending? The whole thing with the sea caving in, and then sailing off to find the new hyrule was just awesome.

ipaul
Halo 2 deserves its place there. Apart from that, Baten Katios has one of the most drawn out endings ever.
solitanze
Vegas Stakes on Super Nintendo. You type in what your dream is to do with the 10 million dollars. No matter what you say, you get the same response and then just a black screen with credits.
dabookerman
Metal Gear Solid 2 was too ahead of its time. Very few people fully understand the ending. Sorry but if you didnt understand it, then thats your own problem, naturally if someone cant face up that they didnt understand the ending to MGS2, then they would say the ending is rubbish and doesnt make sense. This is understandable. MGS2 isnt the greatest ending ever, but my god, does it leave it wide open. The entire past of the series has more or less been explained in MGS3 and Portable Ops. All that is left is the conclusion.
Fierce_LiNk
Could it possibly be that these guys just didn't like the ending anywhere as much as you did? Not everyone loves MGS as much as you, man. It seems like nobody can say a bad word against anything to do with MGS, as in flies the bookerman to defend it to the death. I dont need to defend it to the death. (you continue to stalk me) I dont start saying to people, "OH YOU FUCKIN SUCK m8, GO HOME AND DIE" whenever people say something bad against MGS. MGS is a fantastic series, and arguably one of the greatest video game series ever created. So obviously i am free to give out my opinion. I am just giving my explanation why it isnt the worst ending ever, and that saying it is a crappy ending, because they didnt understand it, is understandable, because the game is way ahead of its time. With mario its the gameplay that shines.

With mario its the gameplay that shines. Not every game needs an award winning storyline to make it a great game. Look at TimeSplitters, what a game, but let's face it the story is thin at best.
