  1. Credit must go to Hughton for the win: he may not be a tactical mastermind, but he closed down the Arsenal midfield beautifully. I was in shock when I saw the result and highlights, now I can't stop smiling!
  2. RIP a very fun man and a thoroughly watchable actor, most recognised for Happy Days but I will always remember him in the Father Dowling Mysteries.
  3. It's not ok to EVER start thinking about Christmas, because this year, thanks to Mrs Iun and her magic "Spend Everything" wallet, I can't afford to go back to England to be with my family the ONE TIME in the year when they're all together.
  4. ...it's spelled "pettiness"...
  5. Very sad, met him in Ibiza with some friends about 10 years ago, a very humble man. RIP.
  6. I went nuts and bought most of the Iron Man 2 figures last week, but to be fair, they're on sale now.
  7. -Garrett Wang -David Boreanaz -Don Cheadle Garrett Wang is so cute David Boreanaz has just got that smouldery "I'm going to do everything I want to you and you are going to love every minute of it." look about him. Don Cheadle... I feel we'd have a lot to talk about afterwards, I imagine he'd be quite tender and affectionate, y'know, willing to talk about anything that was bothering me, tell me about his day, his plans for tomorrow, what he wants to do a the weekend...
  8. Hugely pleased with the Newcastle result - not because Villa put us into the Championship (we did that ourselves, to be honest) but becausewe beat a team who are in theory better than us. We got a harsh lesson at United last week, and it's nice to bounce back with such gusto. The question is, can we repeat it against the rest of the league? Probably not, no. But it will certainly help our goal difference and be a boost for Carroll who has come on nicely. It's too early for England as many have tipped him for, but we can only hope that he goes from strength to strength.
  9. Age quod agis, have a care who is in earshot when you mention "TNMN" a former colleague of mine was told politely to leave the country for speaking of "The Incident" to the wrong person. Hiroshima was a tragedy, the question is: was it avoidable? A little part of me says "talk would have solved it" but the bigger part of me, the part that has spent so long in Asia around people for whom saving face is more important than their own or other people's lives, says there was never and would never have been another answer.
  10. Yeahyeahyeah! We had one at Tides (local swimmin' hole) , and the switches for choosing different games were funny-shaped metal things that looked like they came off a trumpet! I remember you could choose between Mario, Luigi, Peach or Toad!
  11. Final Fight. On one of our twice-yearly trips to Butlins, my father and I spent about an hour playing the game almost to completeion - one of the happiest hours of my life.
  12. Sorry dude, don't swing that way anymore. But you go ahead
  13. Hahah! Just what I need after a loing absenc! I totally had a bottle of M$S hoouse wine and a shit load of port after a veyr long dinner with sth boss and his hot daughter! Sshhhhe! Don't tell mr s Iun!

...would also be an apt description for someone like Paris Hilton or Lady Gaga: You know it's horrible, and that someone probably paid dearly but you just can't help your fascination.
  15. I'm obsessed with getting to the TRUTH... ...I swear you're all in on it... if I can just find someone to trust, we could make sense of this mess.

    Brian Mcoy

Iun all wish Brian Mcoy a happy birthday, they have always felt that he added a breath of fresh air. Iun would also like to collectively apologise for their being late to this birthday thread.
  17. Getting two Cadbury's Buttons and putting them flat side to flat side and then eating them. It makes the bag go quicker, but the texture is simply divine.
  18. And maybe I'll start peeing Chocolate Buttons like I always wanted. Doubt we will even be able to hold them to a draw, but it would be lovely. I just hope we can avoid getting steamrollered.
  19. I don't know, who've you been shagging, Susan Boyle? /jk Yes, I used to get that all the time. Actually, most animals have that reaction.
  20. Walking through the fields near my parents home at sunset/twilight, there's something so magical about watching the golden circle of the sun fade over the hills, to be replaced by the gentle flickering glow of the lights in the farms and cottages that dot the winding lanes filled with wild grass and the soft sound of birds and chirping insects. It's something China can never hope to replicate, so I miss it dearly.
  21. That is also what she said. And I have no idea what she was talking about.
  22. I had one earlier with Mrs Iun... we were talking about the protests by Chinese Expats in Paris. Me: So I hear the protests have been terrible! Her: Oh no! My poor countrymen! Me: Yeah, I hear that the protest grew to several thousand strong, not just students and ordinary people, but workers, academics... Her: That's wonderful! They should stand up for their rights! Me: Oh no though, it all went sour! The government decided to send soldiers and tanks to quell the protests, thousands were killed and many more have been "disappeared" from the face of the Earth! Mothers will be left without sons, wives without husbands... a whole generation destroyed fr being audacious enough to stand up for their beliefs. Her: WHAT?! How can anyone let this happen!? The West is so evil! They were just innocent protesters! How can you murder them in cold blood?!? What a wicked, corrupt and unjust society! Me: ... Oh, hang on, I made a mistake... that all happened in China. Her: .... FUCK YOU! So I'm sleeping on the couch tonight, but it was well worth it. Okay, it was more of an awkward moment for her, to be honest.
