  1. Fnnar. Nursing something of a hangover today after drinks out. Good times, and a planned repetition tonight, but slightly soured by my mate totally overstepping the boundaries and blurting out my disability to someone I've never met before. Stupid fucker has about as much tact and empathy as my morning dump. It's not something I consider myself sensitive about, but in a new social group it's something I have to deal with myself and talk to people about but I have a way of doing things and it is NOT Stuart making a joke out of my disability in public.
  2. Haunt bored me. Totally cliché in a way I was convinced Kirkman was incapable of. There's just...nothing to it. Every scene was so tired it felt like plagiarism. Ottley's style was murderised too. Capital crime #1
  3. So! Irredeemable #8 I know I'm probably the series' strongest advocate here but I really think this issue is the best yet. It just knocks it out the park. It's still not dealing in the bold strokes of the common comic book lexicon but there's so much character development here. It's a subtle book, and might seem unsatisfying to some, but I honestly think this is the best independent title going right now. It's an absolute masterpiece in every sense of the medium.
  4. Catch 22 and Brave New World both rock my world. The former, particularly, is a work ofo incredible genius.
  5. God I remember that. What a piece of shit that guy is...I mean, Jesus Fuck.
  6. Science reporting is generally weak. Poor Journalists are constantly looking for a cheap hook with which to lead a story that, in reality, is about slow and metholodical work making incremental gains in a very specific field that nobody outside of the community has any idea of. The result is sensationalist, misrepresentative 'churnalism'. Real investigative journalism is too expensive for most papers when it comes to Science. saying that, The Guardian just did a pretty good bit of copy about NASA smashing shit in to the Moon for Lulz
  7. Really fun challenge, that. See, you can be cynical about the value of Recon but really, the vidmaster challenge is quite possibly the best sequence of achievements yet devised. It covers every element of the Halo 3 concept- from co-op, forge, solo, matchmaking, firefight and everyting in between. It's not just about getting the armour, it's about working through this really good sequence of challenges with your friends and the halo community. It's genius.
  8. Pretty much sums it up.
  9. I call bullshit. mostly because ghosts aren't real. The evidence really mounts up though when you consider that ghosts aren't real.
  10. it's not particularly rare. I can name 2 in walking distance of my house.
  11. that's because I'm so 3008. You're just two thousand and late!
  12. the new A-Team
  13. 'one cup' usually (NOT A MUG) with regards to water it depends on the method but here's my favourite: there should be as much water again as to high high the rice is. Bring that to the boil then turn your hob off. Cover the rice and leave it on the still hot (but off) hob. takes about 15 mins but the rice will steam, not boil. The result is a much nicer texture. oh and remember to wash your rice before you cook it to avoid a starchy mess.
  14. Today was weird. Early start so I was in at 9 for a lecture then I spent most of my day working on Shorthand theory (Haggis- this will kill you if you go on that Journalism course) There was a class on it but I'm a unit behind in the book so I walked out after 5 mins and walked to the Library and got back to the book. Seminar on Law was good. We were discussing Juvenile law and how statutes protect minors from being named in the press etc. One of the hypothetical questions was about a teenage girl who stabbed a milkman. This actually happened in Sheffield. The girl the story is based on was in my class at school. When the tutor mentioned it I put my hand up and said 'ooh, yeah! I knew her. That was, um, weird. Yeah. Totally Weird." Was too tired for a real story
  15. oooh, controversial! :p
  16. well, it's all script innit. Personally, I think he needs someone more experienced at fleshing out a concept. He has good ideas- Firefly and Dollhouse are both, conceptually, great. The problem is that he rarely has the ability to carry the concept through on strong plotting. Firefly has some good characters, a good scenario etc but the show basically went nowhere. Dollhouse is exactly the same.
  17. Whendon's X-Men run was, for the record, flawless. Absolutely amazing run.
  18. CBR hate Haunt #1 it sounds pretty dire. Chiefly because, from the sounds of things, McFarlane ruins Ottley's art. Sounds like Kirkman has been pressured in to writing like Mcfarlane too. Owch.
