oooh, controversial! :p

well, it's all script innit. Personally, I think he needs someone more experienced at fleshing out a concept. He has good ideas- Firefly and Dollhouse are both, conceptually, great. The problem is that he rarely has the ability to carry the concept through on strong plotting. Firefly has some good characters, a good scenario etc but the show basically went nowhere. Dollhouse is exactly the same.

Whendon's X-Men run was, for the record, flawless. Absolutely amazing run.

CBR hate Haunt #1 it sounds pretty dire. Chiefly because, from the sounds of things, McFarlane ruins Ottley's art. Sounds like Kirkman has been pressured in to writing like Mcfarlane too. Owch.

ack. Epic Fail. To be honest, the concept has always been better than the execution. I'm not greatly shocked.

The Edge preview actually has me excited for this again. Quite some feat, given my disposition to stab anyone remotely responsible for the first game in the fuck by the end of it.

I have the new Richard Hawley on order. Waiting for it is hard work.

That kind of....really sucks. Why such a turn around? I know the choice for season 2 was odd but did like...nobody watch it? at all?

Ipods are inherently bad at producing sound for open spaces. Unless you run them through a proper amp, you'll never get good sound out of them.

Nice one Dyson! That's some sexy kit. for me... Very excited. I already heard it on a Guardian site stream but I really want to sit back and put it through the full effect of my Hi-Fi stack. Unless you own one, it's hard to describe how much more enjoyable music can be through really good equipement compared to compact stereos.

Agreed. It's a lovely bit of work. Easily his most listenable, too. I found much of his other albums either alienating or just less enjoyable.

I'm working on it I think my views are changing. I admit to downloading a few things but, particularly with music, I'm moving in to doing it entirely legally. with comics it's a little different. single issues are, particularly from Marvel, very expensive. It costs £3.30 for just one issue these days. I do make amends though- I pirated vast numbers of The Walking Dead and Invincible but, since I caught up with the release schedule, I buy both monthly (at the cheaper price set by Image). Similarly, I intend to replace the pirated copies of the latest Iron Man series with a hardback copy as soon as it's out because I enjoyed it so much. so in summary I'm a dirty hypocrite, but at least I acknowledge it...

This is true. For all the complaints there's no doubt they have an amazing system in place to fill the gaps ASAP.

Yeah but when it's your job it's totally different. What about a band who get a major deal, have their album leaked and, because of poor sales (everyone just downloads it) they get dropped by the label? There's no justification for piracy. You're ripping people off plain and simple.

oh yeah I went to the dentist too. Comically demented sounds from things inside my face don't really sit well with me but whatever. Job done. etc.

Not entirely true. Late night 6Music has, frequently, thrust new sounds down my ears with commendable professionalism, infectious enthusiasm and alarming regularity. I recommend it heartily. On Spotify's shortfalls: Yes. They're weak on Dance and Jazz particularly. I'm sure metal heads would confirm similar gaps in the database. elsewhere, they're weirdly schitzo ono coverage. They have both albums by the not famous Longpigs, but erstwhile guitarist Richard Hawley has less than half his material available. They are, however, bang up on two of my favourite bands: Mogwai and Explosions In The Sky- both of whom are comprehensively available in full to such an extent that it fills me with love and understanding for all Man. Paj and Chair will be delighted to know that the same is true of Tori Amos. I even listened to some.

This makes a good read, for anyone still considering conferring some 'victimless crime' status to theft and copyright infringement.
