I'm not "trampcore" for no reason. I'll come in my garb. That way if we feel threatened I just have to jump onto the nearest person and start dryhumping them while singing a song about eskimos, swirling my cheap cider high into the air in a fountainous, golden-shower sort of way. Any passing hobos will see the trademark dance, and immediately assume I have rightfully claimed y'all as mine and mine alone. Of course, I ain't no performing monkey. Ha :P This sort of music is about neck and shoulders. You (well, I do anyway) dance fairly slowly to this, but in jarring violent motions. And it's built up, with areas where you mellow up and bomb down. It's just that people don't realise how metal stuff is not really as in-your-face as you think. There are subtleties and crescendos. Bass, drums and level of vocal aggro = layers. It's an acquired taste, that's for sure. And it's not about beauty! Primal shit, yo As for being bus-music.. yeah I do get a bit self-conscious on trains/buses when listening to this stuff. I'll turn the volume down or skip. But walking down the street? It makes you a mean dog. People get out of your fucking way - not because they can hear it but because of your intensity. There's music that makes me feel like hugging people when I'm walking down the street. Sometimes I really just want to punch them in the face. This music is better for that.

This isn't a real poem. It's a collection of misheard Brand New lyrics that I collected and re-arranged. I'm pretty sure there's some subconscious things seeping out, right here. It's blank verse, so read it out loud to find a better pacing. There are some lines I like, and some that are tripe (the whole ancients/beacon thing), but I think the 'project' turned out rather coherant in teh end. Splashed like seas on a motorway, Oil slicks running rivers across the pave like boiling oil soaking a renegade, bow and arrow against a trebuchet Flightless birds married to the cliffsides Tempting the drop just to touch the sky Or endless questions by a child asking 'why?' Have you heard Brand New's song "Brickhouse"? Haven't found a decent quality yet... there's also an acoustic version up. I think it's a bit more Deja then DAG... Really, really looking forward to their album. Now I just gotta cross my fingers and pray that mewithoutYou will be the support :P

Flatmate (Shorty^) has one already, and I was going to get one for when we have the operation and go our separate ways in a couple of months - and yes, the redness won me over. £100 over what I could be paying. Doh. I don't really understand why they spend 3 days 'picking and packing'. I don't even know what that means... But I'm sure it'll arrive friday, at the latest. I will then proceed to spend all weekend trying to hook it up to my TV/finding cables to play two-screen co-op shizzle. Secondary worry; I don't want to get any achievements on my new xbox, because my entire gamer profile is on Shorty's. lol.

Just pre-purchased four tickets to see Brand New at Manchester on the 23rd of June! PSYCHED!!! .. I've got one pal who wants to go, so far. Will phish around and then maybe raffle/auction/make people do stuff for me to decide who can get one. Because obviously I'm mega popular and everyone will want to go with me. :|

You hit the nail on the head when you said "I don't get it" :P If you're singing "you stole my heart with a lip stick dagger" like some robbie williams or something the song sounds cheesy and forced and.. laaame. If you're shouting it (which, when done properly, actually takes some skill and control, but I'll let O_W/Bardie Boy go into that, for I know no terms) then it immediately portrays a different emotion. Rather than stating "i hate you", shouting it at someone surely conveys to them that there's more than just words to that statement? What our grandparents used to complain about wasn't the shouting or the screaming of our day, but the random "a-hur-huh!" type noises that punctuated early rock music. It seemed unnecessary and arbitrary... but that's just because they didn't understand the music - hell, they couldn't understand their own reaction to what they were hearing. The only metal gig I went to was Meshuggah, and it felt like the guy "singing" was "singing" with us, not for or at us. Hard to explain, but... yeah. Hope that helps.
