We're swapping cards this year. Valentines day is an excellent calendar event for people who are unable to be spontanious, yet are in a relationship. One year my girl kept trying to use coyness/cuteness to earn a rose from me. Fact is roses are more expensive this time of year, and the effect of gifting one is surely at its lowest on feb 14th! Anyway, we went to ASDA to find dinner (fajitas) and while waiting for the bus some christian dude gave her a rose "from god, who loves us all" and gave me a Twix. Legend. So yeah! She got a rose in the end and I didn't pay a penny for it. End of rubbish anecdote. And Wesley-style-writing. Tomorrow we'll try our hand at a jigsaw, eat some food, watch a movie, and just generally enjoy each others company and, I guess, be slightly more aware of just how lucky we each are (because hey, y'know, this is jayseven we're talking about here! Ahem).

Tapedeck I've had a similar thing a few times, actually. Doctor combined it with my allergies and reckons I'm just becoming more sensitive... Lame. Happens more at seasonal shifts. Sucks! But tolerable.

nintendo-master; funnily enough lisbeth was the only female my dad could name, despite the fact that actually she'd be a proper shit dinner guest! What was wrong with virgin suicides?!

Dealing with the High Street Charity Vendors
jayseven replied to Ganepark32's topic in General Chit Chat
I tend to say "I'm not going to give you anything but if you want to give me the speil then go ahead." Set them up for their own fall and make them feel responsible. If people are trying to hand out flyers then a polite "no thanks :)" will suffice... unless you're in london then you just gotta ignore them outright! Yeah Sheffield was definitely the worst place for charity peeps. I got suckered into donating to greenpeace for a while. They cost me £50 worth of bank charges. Fuckers. -
The frail man? Yeah when I read stuff up pre-zell's lynch I made a mental note to find out who this fella is as he's dodgy... but forgot about it when it came out! AAAH!

Nolan if I'm ever in michigan then I demand we have a proper drink-up. You are a man after my own heart :P P.S. Not a guiness fan either.

Aimless! Thanks for reminding me! Amazon marketplace is a very sensible idea - provided you are ok with waiting :P trading in-store is quickest but rewards teh least, then ebay does better, then amazon, I'd say.

It's heart-wrenching to hear how bad it gets. Still enjoying 2 and - yes - a reboot would be great, but they'd have to essentially reuse the ideas from the original quite a lot (which stole a lot of ideas from Quantum Leap in the first place :P).

I had a virus that bricked my laptop for a few days. Back now. One mafia's finished so I can focus on the other two more (3 is too much at a time, people!), though tehy are both quite wordy and thus do not complement each other.

LOL yeah, right. Heroijan played surely a flawless game - only on a few occasions did I suspect him, but because of this the-mafia-don't-fully-know-who-is mafia business, it became a lot harder for the town to accurately pick apart the mafia based on behavioural interactions. However - one of my favourite games. Inspired and fairly constant debates, lack of trust at every angle. Even up to my death I was genuinely uncertain about who was left as mafia. Except that they had to come from my list - zell, me, heroijan and rez. Got zell lynched, then I went down... and people just forgot what I had said (which is understandable). Diageo; you were in an unlucky situation (not that I believe you suspected ReZ) because it does seem that you had no choice but to trust ReZ seeing as your life was in your hands. This messed with your judgement and your rationality and in effect you were an extra vote for the mafia at all turns. it came down to only a few people, so well played

Oh, hai! I didn't think I actually posted this. I ended up setting up a second monitor and it made no difference - no sounds, no visuals at all, just the CD tray whirring for a bit and responding to the eject button. The clue was in the flashing caps lock light. Googled that and found that it was an issue with the seating of the RAM - my diagnostic work was done. Laptop was a loaner from the school the mum worked at so she wouldn't let me open it up and fiddle :P

Be sure to check out CEX as they tell you online what they'll give you for your money. I may have to do a similar thing soon myself.

Every once in a while, I just love being rick-rolled. Haven't heard the song in so long :P

Don't suppose many people will reply to this thread. My sister gave me the "Dual Dimension Edition" (season 1 and 2) of Sliders for xmas and I've just gotten round to watching it. Every bit as fun as I remember it! The world where Rembrandt's double is bigger than Elvis, the world where Women are the 'superior' gender, the world where intellect is more popular than sports... At the end of the first season is the perfect-world-lottery place, and what annoys me is that some dude slides with them at the end of that episode then the beginning of the next series they just say "oh he walked off somewhere" and don't address it at all. Plus the show had some of the best intro music everrr. They changed it each season, iirc. ^ Ominous EBM/pseudo-industrial intro for season 1. ^Adrenaline-soaked runaway for season 2. Also! I recently learned that Quinn 'Q-ball' Mallory; ... Is Verne from Stand By Me, but all growed up! Weird.

There are a lot of games that I put a few hours into, don't feel it, then come back months later and get into the groove. Mass Effect 1&2, Fallout 3 (plugged 20 hours into it being constantly beasted, then lowered the difficulty and loved it), Left 4 Dead 2 (came too late to the party), Dead Rising (never got to grips with basically NOT being able to do everything on your first run through) all spring to mind. Generally speaking I very much prefer finding middling games that exceed my expectations. I tend not to get big games when they come out so my hopes are rarely dashed.

Yes, you sit at the head of the table, and your significant other at the other end :P It's actually really hard to pick 6 women for a dinner party. The easy way out is to pick 6 women that are hot and nice to look at. I'd be interested in seeing a female forumer's opinion.
-
You're throwing a dinner party, and you have space for 12 guests with an even number of male and female attendees. Now, there are three ways to do this; alive, dead or fictional (or a combination), so if you can pick which way to do it, so who do you invite? (I gotta think about this...)

Another year older another year wiserwise-ass-ier (?)! (happy birthday!)

I have a scar on my eyeball. I like to make people touch it to weird them out.

Loving it. Really glad it's not all-out action, just hoping the point-and-click spawn of an investigative game works well too. Visuals are astounding, obv.

RE: England - Denmark; Johnson's having a great second half, looking very comfortable. Nobody is really being the man-on-point and taking the game into their own hands. Quite a scrappy game that doesn't show one side more dominant than the other.

Good luck for your next game murr -- they won 13-0!!
