Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD - 29th October 2019
S.C.G replied to Tim B's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I hear what you're saying about the game, I owned it on the Wii back in the day but I'm still curious about this Switch version regardless. I mean... it still has plenty of stages inbetween the boss battles if I remember correctly and it does have mini games including Monkey Target at least... If you were doing to trade it in, I don't know where you were going to take it but CEX voucher price is £23 at the moment, I could match that in cash if you like? £25 posted? Only if you really wanted rid of it mind... I was considering picking it up but didn't and there are so many games out but I would have picked it up at some point. I hope you manage to get some enjoyment out of the game yet anyway but if not, PM me as the offer stands and I'd gladly buy it off you. -
Nice job there @nekunando I've updated the article on the main page so that it now has the YouTube video embedded in addition to SoundCloud. As a bonus, I've now figured out why centreing YouTube videos in articles wasn't working for me in the past, I'll try centering them from now on. We live and learn...

Thanks for the games everyone, that was a lot of fun. Terry Bogard is a fantastic addition to Smash, awesome to play as and just as fun to watch. That stage you made out of Mai there @RedShell is nothing short of brilliance! I managed to capture the footage for tonight's shenanigans as well, though I haven't checked it yet, some great moments though. And I even won a few matches, pleased with that.
-
Excellent, I'll look for the room titled 'Terry are you OK?' or something to that effect.
-
Don't worry, I think that was made up for in the test episode of A Smashing Cast where I'm certain it was mentioned at one point.

I've just about finished listening to most of the podcast while uploading the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roundup article and I think you've all done an excellent job. I think it will probably be easier to embed it once it's available either on a YouTube channel or hopefully the N-Europe YouTube channel, assuming @Ashley is OK with this? It would be a huge benefit to have N-E Cafe as the main podcast I feel, and then with A Smashing Cast being more about Smash and general gaming chat, they'd work well together. I'm excited for the future of both types of Casts and I think this can only be a good thing for the future of the main site and the forums.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Terry Bogard presentation Roundup All up on the main page, with the press release roundup, a little bit of commentary and a link to the video presentation. Phew! after all the work Sakurai has put into the game recently and with the presentations I think it's only fair to ask him in Terry Bogard fashion... Are you OK? All credit to him though, seeing him blitz through all of those character scenarios as Terry Bogard and clearing it on 9.9 with his first attempt... amazing.
-
Are you ready for this Glen? During the presentation I did indeed hear Terry say "Are-you-OK!" ... Glen-i Are you OK? Are you OK? Are you OK Glen i? You've been hit by, you've been struck by, a... Buster Wolf! I can't wait to play this either later or tomorrow online.
-
Up on the front page. It's a good trailer, I still don't like the Dynamax and Gigamax stuff but the rest of the game looks great.
-
So it seems that Mai Shiranui is officially to hot for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate... I can accept that kind of logic. Well played Sakurai, that was a fantastic presentation. I'll be scrambling to get the roundup up on the main page now for a bit but I'm looking forward to playing as Terry Bogard in Smash either later on or tomorrow.

I put in my first proper play session on this tonight, the hour on Halloween barely counted but tonight I played for a good three hours and made some decent progress. I've just gained access to Floor 3 and all of the ghost encounters so far, tasks and gameplay mechanics have been really enjoyable. The visuals really are second to none and the sound design is simply spectacular as you can tell where every sound is coming from and the volume level is just right. Everything feels right about this game, I have no complaints and I can't wait to play more of it tomorrow.

Mario & Sonic at the 2020 Olympics (Switch)
S.C.G replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Yep, absolutely fantastic review there by Josh we couldn't have asked for a more comprehensive review. It answered all the questions I had about the game and all the questions I didn't know I'd be asking. A shame about the lack of extra unlockables but aside from that it sounds like the best entry in the series to date from a pick up and play perspective. I've already got plenty of Switch games to play but now I'm thinking about pre-ordering it... -
And it's now up on the front page. Thanks to @Helmsly for sharing the information on this with us so quickly, I creditted you in the article. This should be a great presentation to watch and we'll be sure to report on it right after the presentation airs.

Oh yeah, no that's what I meant... I wasn't advocating people watch the video if they hadn't played the game, I know I did but that's just me. I don't know how to describe it other than it's like with Super Metroid... I knew how that ended before I played the game but it didn't stop me from enjoying it. I still fully intend to play through Hollow Knight, the main reason I hadn't until now was that I waited for the physical release but it's high up on my list along with Celeste.

A Smashing Cast: Episode 1 Now Available!
S.C.G replied to LazyBoy's topic in General Gaming Discussion
Thanks for the feedback @Dcubed much appreciated and we'd be glad of any help or assistance you can give us. I am using the same setup as yourself, it's an Elgato HD60 which is the capture device, I just can't work out why soemtimes it captures flawlessly, usually at times when I'm just capturing Mario Kart or Smash on a Thursday night either just for fun or practice but when it has really mattered, like on the nights of A Smashing Cast the video has just not captured correctly and the video which did capture would stutter every few frames make it unusable. I'm using a Windows 7 64-bit OS PC, with a 3.90Ghz processor and 8GB of RAM so I wouldn't have thought it would be the PC even though it's starting to age, I've checked and I'm using the most up to date version of the Elgato capture software that's supported by Windows 7 as well, I don't have that much free space on my hard drive though I have at least 40GB free but I'm working on that. Sometimes I think it's the luck of the draw but certainly if we have more people capturing then that would be excellent. Craig seems to work well for us with the audio, once it's obtainable from the site, it's easier to use the mixed track so long as everything goes well with the recording as then it's just a case of lining up the video and audio timelines... which is a lot simpler if there isn't a lot to cut out. I'm using Vegas Pro Edit 15 and I'm still getting to grips with it... one thing I need to know how to do is to cut from the audio and video timelines independently which sounds like a simple thing but being that I've only started editing barely a week ago it's things like this which I'm still trying to figure out. I still think we should be pleased with the progress we've made but if we can use this next week to refine things then that would be brilliant, assuming then everything runs smoothly on Wednesday 13th in the evening then I reckon we should have the proper start of A Smashing Cast which would be fantastic. -
Just looking on the usual sites for news, both Go Nintendo and Nintendo Everything are sharing news about the leaks but they haven't shown anything in the headers for the news so it looks like at the moment, you won't be spoiled unless you click on the actual articles, though I can't say the same for other sites though where I'm sure they'll be sharing every detail but hopefully a lot of them will just put a generic thumbnail up so you don't actually see anything new unless you investigate further byt clicking the article. I won't be posting any leaks and neither will N-Europe in general, so no need to worry here. - - - - - About all that EV training... I have a vague idea about it but with the exp share being on all the time with no way to turn it off, I take it that if you want good EV's for each creature then I suppose you have no choice but to reset them and train for better ones, it's a shame that they don't just make it the whole exp sharing optional, playing through the second generation games again at the moment makes me realise that although they are limited in comparison to the newer entries, at least you had more control over everything.

Gaming Podcasts: A Thread about Listening to Others
S.C.G replied to Goron_3's topic in General Gaming Discussion
I planned to reply to this post and then just didn't... but I remembered this afternoon so no time like the present. I'm the same when it comes to watching other people play games, it doesn't happen that often, mostly because I think to myself... I really should be playing games instead. The one exception at the moment is Brandon & Kyle Play Pokémon Silver because those are just too good to miss out on and it even got me back into playing Pokémon. But as for the huge wealth of streams etc on Easy Allies... I've barely watched any of them, I can understand though that if you're not feeling too good, it's nice to just watch something. Maybe now that I know what to expect from it, I might actually watch it at some point when it comes to Majora's Mask I can remember the first time trying to stop the moon crashing down onto Termina and failing but it only happened the once for me, I've never failed it since so assuming that it wasn't Huber's first time playing the game or if it had been a very long time since playing it then I could understand, otherwise though... just how does that happen? I has been quite the year for him though so there is that... but yeah, I can't imagine not being able to clear that opening part now knowing what I do about the game from subsequent playthroughs. I do watch a lot of EZA content though, you're right... I'm a Patron of theirs and I feel like I get more than enough content early for the price. -
A Smashing Cast: Episode 1 Now Available!
S.C.G replied to LazyBoy's topic in General Gaming Discussion
I've now managed to upload a better quality version of the video which I've swapped out in my post above. it took a couple of attempts to render it but I think it was worth doing, even if this is only the test video, the quality is now very much watchable. -
I need to play Hollow Knight this episode of Boss Keys has just reminded me... The video does contain spoilers for the game so I guess, don't watch it if you haven't played it? I haven't but I wanted to watch the video anyway. Plus I don't feel like it spoiled the game for me, it has just made me more interested in playing it because I was reading about everyone else playing it in the thread and saying things about finishing the game but not really finishing it? And then stuff about the dlc... etc etc... and now it makes more sense to me, so I'll take a look at this game now probably sooner than I originally intended, even though technically everything is on the Switch backlog and it's just a case of prioritisation.

Sega Lord X with a new video titled Sega Ages Shinobi First Look which really shows off what M2 have done with their latest port to the Switch. I can't wait for this one, I tend to wait for a lot of the Sega Ages releases to go on sale but when a title like this comes out, it's hard to justify not buying it when it comes out. I do have the Arcade version of Shinobi on the Wii VC but... this looks as good as that version if not better and with even more refinements.

Yes @Ike that's what I'm talking about! I've got the Dreamcast Packapunch cable from Retro Gaming Cables as well, got the scart which works with the Frameister and it works a treat. It makes PSO look pretty sharp and that's on the Dreamcast version, they changed a lot of the overall look and textures for PSO Ep I & II on the GC and for Blue Burst on the PC. The menus on the Dreamcast version seemed lightning quick though, didn't they seem that way to you? Just reminds me how well the original game ran on the original console. Really liking your HUcast character there "E106" ver3 is a cool name, Sonic Adventure inspired I take it? That reminds me, I have a RAcaseal called Azel on the GC version and because of the character limit on the PC version I called my character on there Edge. Got to love a good Sega inspired name for a PSO character, I'm pretty sure I have a FOnewearl called NiGHTS as well. I really could talk about PSO indefinitely, it's still one of my favourite games.

A Smashing Cast: Episode 1 Now Available!
S.C.G replied to LazyBoy's topic in General Gaming Discussion
Here it is... A Smashing Cast Episode 0 is now live on my YouTube channel as a test. Just take into consideration that we're all new to this, the video capturing on my end is hit and miss as the video captured of what we were playing while we were talking didn't pan out so I had to improvise by using footage from the other night on October 31st from the Halloween Smash session which I believe features myself, @Glen-i @Dcubed and @RedShell All of the audio recording seemed to go well, there is a bit at the start where we were warming up in a timed match and we were then going to go straight into the first match, but there was some good conversation in there so rather than edit it, I've left that in, also the video goes a bit odd at the end as there was a freeze in the video so I tried to move some footage from later in the capture, just to fit enough in to go along with the audio and the video is terrible quality, this is just a test and I've only started learning how to edit and also we've all only just started doing this so it can only get better. Thanks to everyone involved who is in our Discord group so that's @LazyBoy @Nicktendo @Vileplume2000 & @Jonnas who are in the discussion and @nekunando who's in the group which everyone has contributed to, eventually resulting in the video that you see embedded in this post. Credit goes to Ryan for coming up with the idea in the first place but I think we've done well to get to this stage and hopefully there will be more to come depending on feedback and whether or not we're happy to have this on N-Europe, but hopefully so and I'd love to hear what you think about it @Ashley as we're happy to go ahead to continue and refine what we have with this, so long as you're happy for us to continue with it? Anyway, enjoy and please let us know what you think and any suggestions for improvement or praise if we're indeed worthy of it. (hopefully though) We've had fun with it so far in any case which is the main thing but we'd love to keep going with this in the future. (I've now reuploaded the video again after getting it to render at higher quality, taking two attempts and several hours of rendering but the video quality is now very much watchable, even if the footage towards the end is a bit hit and miss as it's just there to fill a static screen which was there before)
