  1. Welcome to the N-Europe Forums @baconmasteraxl I've embedded the video you posted as I don't think you can do that until you've got a few posts under your belt. Anyway, thanks for letting us know about this new MMORPG as it might be one to check out at some point.

  3. Yep, I agree with everything here, it's just that we didn't know how everything was going to go until we tried and at least we're now focusing on improving audio etc. I've got that new mic on order now and I think the conversation along with the knowledge was definitely there, i even learnt a few things I didn't know about a certain character who's lined up for appearing in Smash in the not too distant future, I mean I knew of the chracter (Terry Bogard) from playing some Neo Geo games but not really much about the backstory. Another trial show is the way to go I reckon as I reckon we'll improve and I'll hopefully have learned a bit about editing by then. 'A Smashing Podcast' has a decent ring to it, it's also to the point and what we're about, I'd be more than happy with that for the name. Also, it just goes to show what a good idea it was on your end to come up with the concept of playing Smash while talking about other game related topics. It sounds simple but it just works and I can see a lot of scope in the future for different themes and fun or interesting topics to talk about.
  4. Well, I think the test recording yesterday went as well as can be expected. The conversation seemed to flow reasonably well, playing Smash was great fun especially with the themes and we managed to get video recording on my end and audio as well. Some of us will need better mics I think, @LazyBoy you even said so yourself that you'd need a better headset I believe? And I think I'll need to get a better mic as well at least. I will do what I can with the video and audio but please take into consideration that I am learning from nothing here. I've got all the editing software which I got from a Humble Bundle months ago, I just need to install it and redeem the license codes, then I'll fiddle around with the files. I can aim for getting something sorted before the weekend like we discussed but this is in no way set in stone, I'm not trying to set us back here either, I'm just being realistic. If anyone has any editing tips for merging separate audio tracks with video then that would be appreciated, aside from that we should have something to show soon. Also, I was thinking about the name, would the 'N-E Smashing Podcast' be a good name for it? There's still lots to consider but I don't want to understate how much of a step forward we took last night in our test recording, I'm still feeling very opimistic about it all.
  5. Something like 'Button Mashers' is almost certainly taken and I'm not sure if it would be a good fit. I could warm to it being called 'GameFellas' though because that's more accurate, everyone on the Podcast is male and we're about playing games so... No need to put any more thought into it than that really as it's not a title you have to overanalyse, it's simple and could work rather well. The only thing is, as I thought... there's already a GameFella's because of course there is! It looks like they just started a few months ago as well, however it looks like it's an Apple podcast and more personality based whereas we're game talk on the audio with game footage, just on YouTube and I believe we're offering something a bit different due to the fact that the game footage we're using will be Super Smash Bros. Ultimate exclusively I believe. So you can either look at it as we're not really competing, we just happen to be using the same name and hope there's no legal stuff or think of another name for the Podcast. I suppose we shouldn't worry too much as this is the first test recording but equally it would be good to get a name/brand locked in so that if it goes well which I think it will, we've got something that we can build on, anyway I will keep trying to get stuff sorted out during the day, I think the more options we have for the audio recording side of things, the better, it looks like I've got the video covered now at least and I'll stay signed in to the Discord page in case anyone needs to reach me in the meantime. I'm pretty happy with how quickly this is coming along though even if we haven't really properly recorded anything yet but I'm optimistic and I'm glad that you had the idea for this show @LazyBoy and that you've been keen to get as many people on-board for this as we can, also thanks to everyone who's currently part of the Discord group.
  6. @Hero-of-Time can it be Halloween already? I can't wait for this.
  7. Sega Lord X with a video on Sega Mega Drive era Master System games - Part 2 Which just goes to show how many decent, region exclusive Master System games we actually got in PAL territories.
  8. I'm really hoping that we see less "Live Service" games next generation, just think, if Anthem had been allowed to stick to its original vision it could have turned out a lot better.
  9. I wonder if Microsoft will keep up with the backwards compatibility once their new console comes out? I believe their words were something along the lines that they would be stopping making backwards compatible games this generation, signifying that we wouldn't see any more on the Xbox One, maybe they'll make them exclusive to the new Xbox somehow? Which wouldn't make much sense if the Xbox One is capable of running them, which it is but who knows, I recall the wording being interesting anyway so it could mean anything. If Sony can find a way to make the PS5 backwards compatible with all previous Playstation generations then that would be good but with the way that they've worded things recently I'm only going to expect PS4 games to run on it, which is fine... I have some PAL and some NTSC PS1 and PS2 games anyway so even if those games were backwards compatible, it doesn't help me that much really, might as well just use my old PS2 and my current PS3 still works so it's not a huge deal. Backwards comatibility on the Xbox is more of a big deal though, I really don't use my 360 any more, it's probably time for it to go back in the box, on the other hand though I'm going to get my old original Xbox out for certain as it's still going to be the easiest way to play a lot of its games. PS5 will likely be a decent platform but I can't get too excited about it just yet, until there's a real reason to.
  10. *nods* I watched that the other evening when it was out, very good video, I'd usually have posted it but I thought I'd wait for someone else to for a change. I completely agree about the Strider port, I got a copy of Strider 2 with Strider with CeX credit a few months back and I was blown away by the port. Strider 2 itself isn't bad either.
  11. Sony have done well this generation, that's undeniable, though they have also been arrogant around more than a few issues such as cross-play etc, let's just hope that they actually get their house in order when it comes to sorting out this "power-stuggle" between their different regional offices, that sounds like something which needs addressing right away. Microsoft's Game Pass will not continue at the same level of subscription without cost to the long-term games sales and eventually a large potion of the industry in time, the price structure will be adjusted, I expect they'll try and tie some of it in further with Xbox Live but if people want more access to everything then they'll have to pay a lot more in the long run, either that or the price stays low and then hardly anyone buys physical Xbox games any more or even buys them outright digitally any more because they'll have no need to; it might seem like a good deal initially but I can't and won't support it. Nintendo's doing great with the Switch, they just need to sort out their online still, the SNES/NES games are nice but the online service can and should be better, increase the price by a little bit if they need to but they can offer so much more even on a basic level, like voice chat on the console? Don't force your user-base to use a mobile app or just resort to Discord... although right now, I'm at the point where I'm not that bothered any more, the only games I play online on the Switch are Mario Kart which... isn't the best thing to have voice chat on when you get hit by a red shell for the tenth time in a race and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate which N-E may well be soon starting a podcast featuring Smash gameplay coupled with talk about games, so Discord will be used for that. But anyway, more options wouldn't go amiss. Right now, I don't want to buy any new consoles, it would be very hard to justify buying a new Xbox console, more likely easier to justify a PS5 but really... anything could happen in this generation, we don't really know one way or the other, all I know is that we have some time yet to enjoy the current generation of consoles so I'm going to do that while I can without the thought of buying a new console until we know more. But... if I can get the cash for it and if I think it's worth it, then yes I'll likely get a PS5 at launch.

  13. Updated link to the Discord I'm new to all this as well, but that invite should be OK for at least 24 hours.
  14. Raging Loop is a Psychological Horror title made by Kemco is available on the eShop for £24.99 (currently £22..49 with a launch discount) Juicy Realm is a Roguelite Twin-Stick Shooter made by SpaceCan Studios and will be available on November 7th for the price of £13.49 (20% discount during launch week) A Hat in Time... should need no introduction but it's available now, is an acclaimed platformer featuring hats (long before Mario Odyssey) and there's a physical version soon. Check the articles for details and trailers.
  15. In that case @Happenstance it sounds like you're doing the right thing by just distancing yourself from the job as much as possible, heck it sounds like you've done a lot for your place of work and you're even trying to steer this glorified receptionist in the right direction when it comes to IT stuff only to be ignored or fobbed off which really is not good at all, you're trying to educate them all on the issues which would be caused by making the changes they want to make so, if they want to go ahead and do it, making those mistakes in the process then sod 'em, at least you tried; it's obviously going to be frustrating though if these problems then have a negative effect on your job as well, which makes it all the more frustrating that they don't seem to want to listen for whatever reason... argh! I can feel myself getting frustrated about it now and it's not even my job. Well, in that case I just hope that you can find something better in the long run because you definitely deserve better than that place by the sounds of it.
  16. It sounds to be like you did your best under very difficult circumstances, I don't know the details but the receptionist sounds like a right condescending cow who claims to know it all but in reality probably doesn't, OK so she's had some IT experience, it doesn't mean that she or anyone else should be talking down to you or any other members of staff. I'm sorry to hear that it didn't go well, I know that feeling when you're shaking with anger, there's so much you want to say but then you think of all the good it will actually do... I understand on some level but I hope there are some positive changes in your job soon, I really do as I'm not sure what else to suggest, it sounds like you've done all you can for now.
  17. So does Reset Era exist solely to complain about everything in gaming? Because it certainly sounds like it from what I've heard. I can understand rallying against loot boxes, microtransactions, scummy business practices and real, genuine censorship but this? I can't see what the problem is. If anything, it just sells me more on the game, which I was already sold on and just need to actually start playing it sometime soon because it looks amazing. If I was to complain about anything related to this game, it's just that it didn't sell enough but it's not too surprising due to reasons already outlined. Still, the Switch has a uder-base of more than 10 Million now and Dragon Quest XI hasn't hit a million in sales? That is a shame because even discounting those who played it on PS4 I would have thought there would still be more room for the game to make more sales, so it might just be the busy time of year, so many games and maybe some Switch owners are hoping to get it as their game at Christmas time? That's all I've got which I can really say about the game without playing it for myself, I must get on that.
  18. Cheers for the games. We might not have the audio sorted yet but we'll get there. It was fun anyway.
  19. Wow, it just wasn't my week... ah well, it was still fun. Thanks for the games everyone. Next week we're back to Bob-omb Battle right? R-right?
  20. It's our very own @david.dakota I do believe.
  21. Oh I agree, personally if I was to make content on my own channel, I wouldn't even try and monetize from YouTube even if I eligible I don't think, I'd just put out some videos, see how they do and then if there was enough interest, start a Patreon and go from there, I wouldn't want to do it for the fame either, I think this is why your idea for the Untitled N-Europe Podcast is so great, no cameras involved on any of us so not so many video sources to capture, just game footage and members from an excellent community talking about their love of games while playing a few rounds of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. I'm very interested to see how next week goes for us all.
  22. Thanks for watching the video @Hero-of-Time it's good to hear your view on it. I hear you on how volatile and oversaturated it all is, ideally it's better to have a job and do YouTube or whatever on the side but I've often found it to be a catch 22 because all the time I was employed I would often think about wanting to make video content at some point, ideally for N-Europe and then nothing would ever actually get done in the end because I'd feel like I didn't really have the time but since leaving my job earlier in the year, things are gradually starting to feel more possible in some way. Recently, thanks to @LazyBoy for having an excellent idea for a videocast/podcast and the fact that we've had a good bit of interest from staff and forum members, it's looking likely that we'll be able to put something together which has a good chance of working hopefully, so I'm excited to see where it all goes even if it just ends up being something that's fun to be a part of because that's rewarding in itself but you just never know until you give these things a try; I'm definitely feeling positive about it all though. With regards to SSFF... I get it, it does kind of sound like that at the end but I really think that they are just genuinely confident and passionate about the oddball videos they are planning on putting out, so it just seems to be how they go about it, and it did take them a long time to get those subscribers I believe, but I've only been listening to them for a year or two but their videos are consistently very good, when they get into a subject they really go for it and I usually learn some interesting things that I didn't know before. But yes, it would have been good if they'd given an idea of what videos might be coming up, though I'll probably appreciate it more when the video comes out and it's a complete surprise, I hope it's something which involves either an obscure peripheral, an impressive port or a relatively unsung hero of the games industry who I know nothing of.
  23. And it's on the front page... No, I couldn't resist mentioning the blatant "Gen Wun" pandering... @Glen-i you're welcome. At least it livened up what would otherwise be another, cut, paste, format PR and video posting exercise.
  24. Stop Skeletons From Fighting have just put out a video titled YouTube: A Horror Story about how the platform works or indeed doesn't work a lot of the time. It's interesting because it gives a bit more insight into how everything operates or at least gives a vague idea. I've always liked their channel for their odd gaming peripheral stuff and I really hope they continue to make those videos in the future. I just found it interesting as it explains a lot and why a lot of channels maybe haven't been doing so well in recent times without proper support.
