  1. What I'm puzzled about is the fact that you get a Pikachu and Eevee from save data from the respective versions of Pokémon Let's Go! Right? But, I thought that you could just Gigantamax any Pokémon which had the capability? Same with the limited time Meowth... aren't there other Meowth's you can just catch? Am I missing something here? I get the feeling I might have asked this question before, I really don't know at this point, it sounds like a simple feature but it clearly has caveats to it.
  2. A neeeeew record... (though not one to celebrate) one single player of a terrible Transformers mobile game has spent $150,000 on microtransactions. 150K... that's just... obscene, I mean... there are no words. So... Activision Blizzard are ironically a lot like a lot of stuff which is "Made in China"... ...nothing more than cheap crap. (and that's putting it mildly)
  3. So after deciding to play some Dreamcast games tonight for the systems 20th Anniversary, I set about connecting my Dreamcast to my Framemeister via a dedicated RGB scart cable made for the scaling box and... it wasn't recognising the signal, despite having it working only a week ago when I was testing some games, fortunately though after searching for solutions, I remembered that the unit has a micro sd card slot so I updated the firmware (last update for Framemeister firmware was 2016) and it works like a charm. I found some of my old memory cards but not the main ones I was looking for sadly, some had PSO2 data on them but it's on a third-party card which I don't remember using, it's got four memory banks on it though, anyway on the newer "bright white" Dreamcast I had bought a little while back with a view to it hopefully lasting longer, it wouldn't let me load anything on PSO2 because I forgot that the unique setup for that game requires you to register various numbers and the game is then locked to the serial number of that Dreamcast... Fortunately, I still have my original "old yella" Dreamcast which has seen better days colourwise but still chugs away nicely and of course that let me use my copy of PSO2 and even though the character data on the third-party card for three characters wouldn't load because it was obviously made on another Dreamcast, there was one slot free so I made a RAmarl and called her "2B" yeah I know, not exactly original but I liked the idea of making a character from a game which didn't exist in the DC days, plus she does look like a PSO character a little bit anyway. I played a couple of story quests and it became immediately apparent that PSO on the DC is much darker colourwise but it has a nice contrast to it, it just makes me appreciate the evolution from DC to GC to PC even more, though the music is strong enough, the sound effects now sound like they're underwater to me in comparison to the GC and PC versions, so in that respect, it seems like the opposite of the Skies of Arcadia DC/GC issue with the sound, which reminds me... I did find my original file on another VMU so I should try that again soon; another thing worth noting is that the menu's on PSO V2 are still really slick, they give even the PC version a run for it's money, though on the DC version obviously it's the loading which kills it but I still kind of love the sound of the DC's motor whirring away during the loading screens, it's weirdly nostalgic. Also, my newer DC is significantly quieter than my old console, but anyway, they both seem to be able to retain the time and date now that it's set on both machines, so chances are I will keep each system running regularly to make sure they stay in good working order, so it will be my newer console for most of the games and the original will be my PSO Ver.2 machine, now I've just got to find out what I did with those other two memory cards which are hopefully still full of characters and lots of interesting rare weapons from back in the day.
  4. Sega Lord X with a new video Arcade Spotlight - Outrunners - System Multi 32 Game which is another one of those Sega Arcade games which surely deserves a re-release.
  5. Inertial Drift is an arcade racing game made by Level 91 Entertainment power-sliding onto the Switch in Spring 2020. Check the article for an overview and a trailer.
  6. It's the Sega Dreamcast's official PAL birthday today? Hot damn! I just recently got my Dreamcast (temporarily) hooked up to my Framemeister so I could test some games. I think I might just play it this evening, see if I can find the memory card(s) which (hopefully) have my original PSO characters on and play a bit for nostalgia's sake... ...and then play some more PSO later on PSOBB over on Ephinea which I've been enjoying playing a lot recently. Happy Birthday to the mighty Dreamcast! I enjoyed it a lot back in the day but I feel like I'm only starting to truely appreciate its worth now two decades on.
  7. It's just a shame that what a lot of mainstream gamers might think they want, is just the market leaders dictating to them, telling them what they want and then the mainstream gamers just seem to gladly go along with it, despite the fact that most of these games seem to be getting worse with each iteration. But if all of these broken games with content missing, obscene gambling mechanics and in some cases just being devoid of any fun at all are what they really want then, who am I to try and stop them from buying these titles, just so long as they're happy with the way things are going... I mean they're paying for a lot of this rubbish so... I don't know what to say any more. Now, of course a lot of these games aren't for me, I accept that and as Hero said in another thread recently, even though the new Fifa game is broken beyond belief, it's still fun for anyone who enjoys Football games, so I suppose Call of Duty still has at least some of what makes the game fun for people who still buy the games? And... it must be the same for the new Ghost Recon game but really... from the footage in the latest video Jim did on it, I couldn't see anything which resembled Ghost Recon in that game, it just looked like another trashy open-world bore-fest with absolutely zero redeeming features and a broken always-online mode... I just don't get it. So in conclusion... yes, Simpson's "I used to be with "it" " clip is very appropriate right now. It doesn't make it any less depressing though and I'll continue to buy games like Yooka-Laylee and Concrete Genie even at a time when I can't really afford to, rather than spend a single penny on any of these piles of trash which qualify for mainstream gaming these days... if there are people who enjoy them then, that's great I guess but after seeing so many different generations of games come and go, surely a lot of us hope for something a lot better for the future of gaming in general? Ultimately, if the games industry just veers off in a direction which I don't want to be a part of I'll just be grateful for the decent retro games I do have and that I should be able to play no matter what happens to gaming but I would still like there to be an industry left in another five to ten years, if things carry on as they are though I do wonder if there will be that many game studios left in the future if they just suddenly become "not-financially viable" for whatever reason. [/Rant] Grumble grumble... (I should go and play some games instead of moaning about the ones I don't want to play, it's my own fault that I don't get enough games played as it is)
  8. Done, I just put down 8PM Sunday, Monday or Wednesday from the options available.
  9. OK, I'll do what I can but on the subject of Skype... Dennis has brought up another possible alternative... ...good shout on Discord, I think maybe that would be a better thing to use rather than Skype if that suited everyone? (I'll go with whichever but Discord seems to be better suited) All good suggestions there, I do have a capture card but limited experience and storage space but I'll attempt to recitfy this over the next few days. If we can make this work on a regular basis, I think it could work quite nicely, it'll just take a bit of ironing out over time I think. It would be great if you could help us with the social media promotion though Dennis, that would be excellent. Oh and congratulations on your "house get!" I hope it all goes well and I'll do what I can to keep things running on the main site, remember that if you need me to do the New Releases and Discounts article on any given week that I can if that helps you out while you're busy, I'm more than happy to do that.
  10. I have the software but no experience with it yet, so I can't guarantee the quality or anything until I try it out, this would seem to be the best time to give it a go though. If we're all going to be using Skype then I'll reinstall it... I take it there isn't any other popular PC-based software which would be better for this kind of thing? As for getting the audio from such programs I have no idea but I've got these various bits of software so I can certainly look into what's involved. Again, I don't know if I'll be able to overlay the audio over the video until I try, so just lots of unknowns at the moment. I'm still all for moving things along, though I think this will take a little bit of time to sort out, first order of business will be making room on my PC... If I'm capturing video then I don't have a huge amount of space, I mean... how much will an hour of HD video be in file size? I'm betting it will be a good few GB? @RedShell do you have an idea of how big the video files will be just to give me an idea please? (thought I'd ask seeing as you've captured footage before)
  11. Yeah, I was dismayed at this as well... the only reasoning I can think of behind it is that they've either started manufacturing all PAL territory games in Germany again whereas before perhaps they were manufacturing them elsewhere? Or Zelda: Link's Awakening was a rare exception, I suppose the only way to find out will be with the next bog release which has a special edition.
  12. No worries, I also approve of the new thread title.
  13. I'd just post another thread right here in General Gaming for the thread in the Staff area I just went with... Super Smash Bros. Ultimate N-E Videocast but call it what you like.
  14. Oh yeah, in pinciple it should be fine as it would all be a community effort from staff and forum members so promoting it on the main site when the time comes would be fine, I'd even gladly do the promotion myself as I already handle a lot of the articles which go up on the main site, I've always been happy to do so and this would be no exception. It's just as Glen has said, we'd like to know what Ashley thinks about it all as he's in charge of the site and while I'd have thought he'd probably be happy for all of this to go ahead it's best to have a proper talk about it all plus I reckon he might have some ideas on how to help promote it all further than the main page across social media etc. I'm not so great at that side of things... also though I think @Vileplume2000 has been promoting our articles on social media recently as well? So he might want to help us with that or partake in the Smash side of things, or maybe video/audio recording? What do you reckon Dennis? The more people we can get involved, the better the chance this will have.
  15. @Glen-i can help with the Smash side of things but audio recording isn't really an option. @RedShell can also help with Smash and also possibly recording of Smash footage with the technical limitation of 1080P @ 30fps though I don't think that's a problem. Red also mentioned a few technical issues might arise but I'd argue that he's very experienced in capturing footage though editing would likely need to done by someone else. (due to time constraints) but as for Graphics, it should go without saying that Red is definitely the man for the job. (this is as I understand things so far, correct me if I'm wrong though) Personally, I'd be happy to help with Smash and can probably help with audio, I don't think my mic setup is brilliant though so I might need to look at that. How would we be recording audio? Is it Skype or something else? I have Skype but I deleted it as it takes up valuable resources, so I could use something else but it has to be PC based. I don't use anything on the mobile phone side of things, so Nintendo Switch mobile app is definitely not an option, just to throw that out there but anything PC based is fine. A few months ago I got that Video Editing humble bundle, so I have software, I just haven't installed it all yet and redeemed the keys but I should do that as it might be helpful. Because I have the time, I'm willing to try my hand at anything within reason if it's useful to this venture and this site in general so I'm on-board as much as I can be.
  16. I'm glad to hear that you're enjoying it, I thought you probably would once you started it. I think classic is a more accurate representation of how Fire Emblem games have been set up traditionally but it's nice that there are different ways to play the game now. I started on Classic as well, but you've already got further than me, I do like the game, it's just that there's so much to play, this got added to the Switch pile but I'll go back to it. Conversely... I still haven't played a Disgaea game, despite you recommending them to me, I must do that at some point soon, especially as the first game is on the Switch as well now. I'd be interested to hear how you get on with this Fire Emblem title as it's the first title to really break with a lot of traditions (I think?) My experience with the series is still limited... I've only really played some of Path of Radiance on the GC, the GBA games and Fire Emblem Awakening on the 3DS.
  17. Well, I was going to test all kinds of games which use the D-Pad with this SNES controller... ...three hours later and I'm still playing The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past This is as much an endorsement to the enduring quality of the game as much as it is the quality of the controller though of course.
  18. Yeah, when it comes to CEX they can be useful for getting rid of a load of titles worth £3 - £10 or so, I did that initially just to get some of the volume of games I had down, I had boxes of PS2 games etc before going down to CEX a few times but now that I've got to the other stuff in my main collection it's tougher because say a game is worth £30... traded in to CEX they'll maybe give you £12 and then they make that £18 back or sometimes more when they routinely put their prices up after checking eBay every month or so. If you put that £30 game on eBay, especially at a time when there's £1 maximum valuation fees, then you'd still make back £27 after ebay fees, paypal and your postage (which you often put down as an extra cost to the buyer anyway) I have a little bit of experience with eBay, mostly just from selling stuff from my collection and while I don't know a lot, I have learned a bit since having to use it a bit more following me leaving my job earlier in the year, it has certainly been a learning curve and it makes you really go over what you have and what you really want to keep or don't, it takes a lot of time but I feel it's worth doing. Anyway, I just thought I'd mention it in case you did end up with a load of titles you really didn't want as I'd gladly cover your postage costs and whatever envelope or box you might need to buy in order to post them. only if it was a help to you though, no pressure. I understand that it's hard to go through your collection as well, recently I took all of my DS and 3DS boxes out from where they were to make more room and to go through them, I saw games in there which I hadn't played in years but some of them I just thought I might as well keep as I never know if I might want to play them again one day, same for GBA and GBC/GB games, I've got all the carts in a display rack so that I can play them easily now if I want to but all of the boxes are in a large plastic box at the moment. It's hard to know what to do with a lot of games that you love but maybe haven't played in a while, I know that if I decided to then I could probably make back a reasonable amount by selling a lot of my collection, not a fortune or anything but enough to carry on living reasonably well and this is always in the back of my mind as I feel that if I really needed to sell games in an emergency then I could but until then if/when that happens, I'll just prioritise and enjoy the games I have while I have them.
  19. It's a tricky one, I've been going for a mixture of selling some myself online, selling some of the things I probably wouldn't get around to sorting to someone who deals in games and collectables while getting a bit back for them but not as much as if I'd sold them myself and charity but only if the items are really not worth the time and/or are only worth less than a few pounds, although we do give other stuff to our local charity shops that might be worth a little bit but that just aren't worth us selling ourselves as a household. You say that Tetris on the 3DS doesn't go for much though, I just checked and you can still get £8 - £10 for a good condition boxed copy. If you ended up with a few 3DS games (or for any platform) which you feel aren't worth selling then I'd gladly take a few off your hands and give you the money for postage if that's something you'd feel comfortable with? There might be some titles that I'm missing from my collection and I'd never throw away any cases or anything, I make sure that they're all reused if they can be in the case of empty boxes and I can usually find a new home for them. Mind you, that's kind of how I ended up with too many games in the first place I'd pick them up here, there and everywhere and if anyone was offering games then I'd usually buy them off them if offered them, I don't mind taking on a few games here and there as I have the time to now and being that Im in the process of going through all my collection by format, systematically it's the best time while I'm in that frame of mind. Equally someone else on here might want some of the titles as well, you never know? And if you were looking for any games in particular on any platform then I might be able to help you out with some games I was thinking of parting with anyway as a trade. Let me know what you think but if we can help each other out then that can only be a good thing.
  20. Just got the SNES controller out of the box and the most important thing from my point of view? It works wired in addition to wireless. So it is just like a Pro Controller and you won't need to update it out of the box. The ZL and ZR buttons seem to double up as the capture and home buttons when using the SNES software. Also, the sound effects are a neat little extra.
  21. The controllers arrived today! So, I guess I'll get on writing some sort of article about them soon.
  22. N-Eaction: DS Games on the Switch With the recent announcement of Brain Training being brought to the Switch, we thought it would be interesting to look at other potential DS games for the Switch. In it we look at games which would work, titles that only really fit being on the original DS and possibly unrealistic examples which we'd just love to see return. Thanks to @Glen-i & @Vileplume2000 for their input and @RedShell for making another excellent set of graphics. Enjoy and let us know which DS games you would like to see come out on the Switch in the future, if any at all.
  23. Thanks, I appreciate you typing that out as it gives a clearer idea for the general vision of the video series and I do like the sound of it the more I read about it. I've posted a thread in the staff section so that should get the ball rolling and see if we can figure out who can devote time and various skills to this project on a regular basis. We'll be sure to keep you and the rest of forum updated but it really does sound promising from the outset, we'll see anyway.
  24. The Wanderer: Frankenstein's Creature is heading to the Switch in 2020. River City Melee Mach!! launches today, check out the trailer.
  25. Definitely, then I could post it in the staff section and it would be a good way to keep track of ideas etc and who's on board. It's sounding promising though.
