Nintendo confirms: No live conference at E3 this year
S.C.G replied to Serebii's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I would grudgingly sit through 27 minutes of trash titles if they finish with 3 minutes of Metroid goodness. -
Digital only, mid-range, mid-price game? (going from what they said in the video) £25 (£22 for Plus members) and you've got a deal. This could be good.

It says a lot that the best announcement for me was the Pokémon Gold & Silver versions being made available for the 3DS Virtual Console. With that said, it did feel like damage limitation... a Switch version of Pokkén Tournament, OK nice enough, I might actually play it more this time around. But then showing Pokémon Sun & Moon Ultra versions for 3DS only about a year on from the release of the original games - by the time they come out - just comes across as... "Well it's too early for a brand new "New" Pokémon game and it'd be a shame to waste all the development time we put into Sun & Moon so why don't we just go with a sequel or upgraded version with some new stuff?" "Should we release it on the Switch?" "...nah, who's going to buy that? Plus we're giving them a new port of a Pokémon game anyway" "3DS it is then... it still prints money afterall" I don't know, that's my knee-jerk reaction to it anyway.

The only valid response to those "amiibo" figures... Do not want!

Break-ups are never good initially, even if they happen for "reasons" or whatever. It does get easier as time goes on in a way but I know that's not much of a consolation in the moment it happens. While I'm sorry to hear about your break-up @drahkon I wish you the best for the future and if you want to talk about it then just give us a shout. In the meantime, I'd just suggest doing whatever makes you happy, use your time to play some more videogames maybe? Yeah, I'm not the best at advice probably... It's worth a try though. : peace:

Bought this while on my break today... £34.60 thanks to 10% off (staff discount) and a £5 off £40 in electricals and gaming. : peace:

Happy Birthday Rummy!

That all makes a lot of sense actually, if continuing with vb would just lead us to another dead-end then perhaps it's better to make the jump now to this new software. So long as we are going for retaining the individuality of the forum then I'm happy with that. Not at all, I appreciate the chance to discuss the future of the forum. It's what is best for the future of the place we have to be concerned about, so it's good to be talking it through so that we can continue to have a forum which will hopefully please most of our visitors and members, if not all.

Personally I really like vBulletin as forum software, I think the look of it is nice even if it's dated, I feel like that only adds to the aesthetic appeal overall. But I'm aware that there have been lots of technical issues recently, so there is that important aspect. I love all of the custom post icons which have been built up over the years so I really hope we don't have to lose those, it might seem like a small thing but it's part of the forum identity; it adds character. I'm not getting an overly warm feeling from Invision Power Boards, only a layout which makes it look like every other social media platform out there, I get that is part of the point in making it easier to access for a wider audience but I think the trade-off will inevitably be a certain amount of alienation. Though I'm guessing that we've done all that we can with vBulletin now? I've just had a look and it seems that there have been further versions of the software - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VBulletin - but presumably the version we are using now is the most stable. Anyway, I don't know that much on the technical side of things but I understand that long-term stability for the site and the forums is a priority and if this is the first logical step then it's worth considering to expand our potential reach; I just don't see everyone warming to it but the change could be good even though I'd definitely be initially apprehensive towards it until hopefully convinced later on down the line after seeing the improvements. Ultimately, I trust your judgement @Shorty but do keep us posted on your ongoing thoughts on the site and the forums future as if you have a plan then that's something potentially promising at least.

Oh well, no voice chat for me then, at least I know in advance now. Now I just need confirmation on this library of NES titles, surely Nintendo aren't going to have a set of online enabled titles then have non-online versions for the Virtual Console? The waiting game continues...
-
As far as voice chat on the Switch is concerned, either I can use my existing headset which I use for everything - PS4, Xbox One & Wii U (well MH3U anyway) - connected directly into the headphone jack or I'm not interested. It really is that simple. I get that using a phone with an app is viable if you are out and about away from your home setup but at home you should be able to have this basic feature useable on the machine, especially if this is part of an online service we're expected to pay for. If having to use (or even own in the first place) a smartphone is a barrier to entry for voice chat on the Switch, then it's a part of the service I simply won't be using. The sooner we get full clarification on this and other currently absent features of the machine *cough*VirtualConsole*cough* the better. : peace:

General Election 2017 - MJ popcorn gif edition
S.C.G replied to Fierce_LiNk's topic in General Chit Chat
I'll just leave this here... :p -
OK, seems like a missed opportunity though being that the main audience for the series before this rebranding has been on Nintendo consoles.
-
I think that because of this line though... We'll be seeing it on Nintendo hardware as well almost without a doubt as this shared infrastructure is surely made for it.
-
Well seeing as I have zero faith in Nintendo restocking these Zelda amiibo ever, I caved and have went with the lowest priced alternative ebay pre-order I can find. The value of them is only going to go up, plus I can just sell some stuff to make up for it I suppose... Seeing as Nintendo are going to be venturing down the subscription route soon, they might as well have an allocation offered to people who are going to be subscribing to their online service anyway probably, this will probably account for... 25% of the stock or so maybe? Just a thought, it might alleviate some of the scalping but probably not by much.

I'm sorry to hear that it has been a rough few months for you @Ashley. If you need to talk then just give me a shout, in any case I'll just keep up with the site stuff when I can to help out and take some of the workload off. : peace:

I only just checked my e-mail sent to me barely half an hour ago... Sold out already!

The Evil Within - Mikami (360, PS3, PC and Next gen)
S.C.G replied to bryanee's topic in Other Consoles
I guess I'll just keep that copy I got free with my Xbox One console purchased three and a half years ago sealed then. It's a game which has barely been on my radar, I was considering playing it... at some point when in the mood for a survival-horror-ish title but by the sounds of it, the game is more a horror to play and I could probably survive without playing it. Besides, I still have Resident Evil 7 to go back to... but who knows, one day I might play The Evil Within, I mean... how bad can it be? Surely not as bad as Resident Evil 6 or even worse... Operation Raccoon City. -
Buying without hesitation! As much as I'd like to see a new ground-up Monster Hunter on the Switch, I'm happy to wait, so getting a port of Monster Hunter XX seems like a solid option. I just hope they really make a decent effort with scaling the assets so that they look really good on the big screen as well as in portable mode. Oh and that Wi-Fi issue needs to be sorted out, otherwise I'll be forced to go with the ethernet option, can't be trying to go in for the killing blow on a Brachydios with any lag now.

Ultra Street Fighter 2 - The Final Challengers (2017)
S.C.G replied to Serebii's topic in Nintendo Gaming
It's cool, I know that. Sometimes I wonder though as a lot of games do sit on my shelves unplayed for a long time, so it's more me poking fun at myself, trying to make light of what's a bit of a ridiculous situation as I really, really do want to play a lot of these games. I can't honestly say that I'm not buying Ultra Street Fighter II partly so that I can see another space on my Switch Shelf™ taken up by one of those lovely red-spined compact game cases. The allure of classic Street Fighter is certainly strong in any case, 'dat nostalgia. -
Ultra Street Fighter 2 - The Final Challengers (2017)
S.C.G replied to Serebii's topic in Nintendo Gaming
... What kind of person would do that? ... *stares at huge towering backlog* Oh yeah... I'll play them all one day, including Ultra Street Fighter 2... it's definitely not just going to sit on the Switch shelf for months on end. I hope... -

I saw that earlier, it's nice that 8bitdo pads are supported on the Switch as an alternative to the Pro Controller. But it's still not that Joy-Con with a D-Pad which I'll continue to clamour for until it's eventually released. I even mentioned it in a Nintendo Switch survey which was sent to me as part of My Nintendo the other day, did anyone else get one out of interest? It's a good chance to voice any concerns you might have in addition to heaping praise where it is due of course. : peace:
