I planned this out. I knew I'd have more time to play Watch Dogs in July, so I went with that first. So, if the game turned out to be shite, I would have ACIV to fall back on. If the game turns out to be good, then I go into ACIV a happy gamer, knowing that I'll be playing an even better game. Win-win, really. I did this with Skyward Sword and Xenoblade. Played what I thought would be the not-so-good game first and saved the main event til later. Worked a treat. Doing it the other way around (Xeno then SS) would have ruined SS even more for me. I'm excited about ACIV, my first Assassin's Creed game. Not sure at all what to expect. I'm going to clean up with Watch Dogs, power through it this week in time for The Last of Us, then get on with AC. In short, games! Games, games, GAMES, GaMeS, gAmEs, Games, GaMes, GAMES, GAMES, GAMES, GAMES, GAMES Games, games, GAMES, GaMeS, gAmEs, Games, GaMes, GAMES, GamES, GAMES GAMES, GAMES, GAMES, GAMES GAMES, GAMES, GAMES,GAMES, GAMES, GAMES, GAMES, GAMES

Oh hells yeah. I haven't even finished Act 2 yet...I just enjoy all of the other stuff. It feels like it's the size of three games, the depth in this is immense. It probably is just me being naive and maybe this is common-place in Open World games. But, there seems to be so much to do. I'm loving it. I spent an hour the other day just playing chess...spent maybe two doing the digital trips. It's a real time sucker. My body ees ready.

Ine's playing Trine 2 on the PS4 (dat free game feel). I didn't know it had 3D capabilities. Looks pretty sweet, actually! Game seems fucking hard, though.

One of my children who I taught this year is a big Southampton fan. He was adamant that Pochettino would stay, but conceded that one big player would go, probably Luke Shaw. He was heart broken when the manager left and seeing Lallana linked to Liverpool was a blow. Can't remember if we were in school or not when Lallana eventually moved. There's a fair few people in my school (parents, mostly) who are Saints fans. The general impression seemed to be that at least one big player (either Lallana or Rodriguez) would go, but if they could keep the majority of the team that they should be ok for next season. All this money is good, but it's temporary. Now every club knows that Southampton have stacks of money and are desperate for players, so the prices are all going to be jacked up. Long term wise, the players will see the club as a stepping stone before moving to a bigger club, or they may go there with the intention of getting a bigger move at the end of it. I can't imagine the fans are happy. Whether the club have 40 million or 80 million in the bank is irrelevant. Without the right players, they're not going to be in the Premier League next season, seats won't get filled in the stadium, so they may end up losing a lot more in the long run.

Cheers, brah. I'm tempted to go with the iPad 4 (not the air). Her eyesight is pretty shitty and she's not very tech-savvy. I imagine the interface is quite decent/easy to use for somebody who is a complete n00b at all of this?

Happy Birthday, @Serebii, brah. SEREBRAH.

General Gaming Sales/Charts Discussion
Fierce_LiNk replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in General Gaming Discussion
It's strange how the PS4 version of Watch Dogs is so much higher than the Xbox One. Even the 360 version is higher than the One. What's going on there? -
I can't put this down. I've just done some trophy hunting stuff. 10 online tails and 10 online races, which is harder than it sounds. I tell you what, I really enjoyed doing the online tails, although it is obviously hit and miss with how difficult it will be. I had two that were either away from the game for a few moments or weren't paying attention. I literally stood a few paces away from somebody and then just hid behind a car. However, I got dropped into a game right next to another player and they clearly saw me. Another one almost knew that I was going to be there because he was on top of a building and just took me out within the first 15 or so seconds that I was there. Definitely getting my money's worth out of this. Tried some of the digital trips yesterday. They were lol.

I'm not hugely familiar with the technical aspect of games or films. What is the benefit of going for 30fps instead of 60 or vice versa? I assume that 60 will look smoother but may result in a high probability of frame drops, right? /n00b

Journeeeey. Any news on when this will come out? Also, Entwined, is this any good?

Oh fuck, that video. The tone of it was perfect. LOVE the look of it all. It's going to work. Hnnnnnnngggggggggg. My heart.

The way that the light colour is displayed on the pad does its a small bit of disservice, imo. It's almost a bit too subtle. I'd have loved it even more if the light was facing the person holding the controller a bit more. Where the back of the controller curves downwards (where the light and charging port/usb socket are), it might have been even better if that was curved the other way, so it faced the gamer holding it, maybe just appearing above the touch pad. Although, aesthetically, it probably would have made the controller look "bulky" and a bit more ugly. Nevertheless, pretty lights, yaaay.

Yeah, it seemed fine to me. Especially as your initial post was comparing it to the WiiU's OS, so it was relevant. I'm actually a tiny bit grateful for the WiiU's GamePad at the moment. Ine had a day off yesterday and is off for today and tomorrow. One TV in the living room, two video games consoles, two gamers who want to play. So, the deal was that she played Wind Waker on the GamePad and I had the telly for Watch Dogs PS4. Not bad...maybe that is all part of their masterplan after all. I was this close to moving the telly from the bedroom into the living room, but that would have been a bit overkill. Maybe, hmm.

@Aneres11, a friend of mine had Metal Arms: Glitch in the System and kept recommending it to me. I hear it's really good, so may try that out eventually. Well done on still having Eternal Darkness and Super Monkey Ball. ED in particular is one of my favourite ever games. Just so, so good. Mechanics were a bit ropey, but it made up for it with its sanity system, story-telling, voice acting, characters and settings, imo. I remember dismissing Super Monkey Ball when that came out. However, I eventually played it and thought it was awesome. Think I had the Wii game, too, but that was nowhere near as tight as this was.

Right, I've attached my microphone and Ine quickly reminded me that Tomb Raider has voice commands. So, I've put that back in (hnnnnnng, what a game). You know what, the voice commands aren't bad at all. It's quite useful actually when you're on the map screen and looking for the documents/relics part. It's not bad...I've not had anything fuck up on me yet. Everything has appeared first time, even with my fucked up accent. Not really something I think I'll use much...hmm. But, good to see that it works.

You need the characters to make a fighting game work. What they probably should have done is rather than going down the smash route is to just make an entirely new fighting game and create new characters there with their own legacy/start their own legacy. Trying to imitate smash is folly as the characters have been around for decades, so gamers can already relate to them. (plus the game looked a bit shite, too) The Villager memes were great. Although, Animal Crossing has already had tons of funny stuff like that. I seem to remember some hilarious diary entries about Tom Nook. May need to track that down.

Sunshine was very much a love it or hate it game. I loved it at the time, I thought it looked beautiful and loved the theme. Mario on holiday. From what I remember, the water in that game looked stunning. Think I remember one time doing a level on a beach or something and swimming out to look at a coral reef. Almost reached the height of my pleasure.

Ah yeah, there's huge potential there. You could imagine having a Darknut in the game, they already look and move in a similar sort of way to Nightmare in the original anyway. We can dream.

I've always said a Zelda fighter would work, but in the style of Soul Caliber. This is not really what I had in mind.

I've found it now. Will have a look at it later. I'm going to look for a better one, though. Annoyingly, I've got a great set of headphones that I use for my guitar, but that set hasn't got a mic.
-
Seriously? The one that is boxed in with it? Gah, I thought it was just a pair of cheapy headphones so have bunged it in a drawer somewhere. Better than nothing, may go and take a look at it.

I like that! If a game is a good game, it'll grab your attention in any era. I'm still discovering Jet Set Radio on the DreamCast and think it looks wonderful. Hard to put that one down. I feel slightly guilty for never playing Viewtiful Joe. Am tempted to pick that up for cheap when I have time.

I paid around £30 for PS+ and it'll last you the whole year. There are deals out there, so I'd look around. HotUKDeals is excellent for this, as well as finding great deals on games, too. As the others have said, you get two free games to download per month. I'm sure this month that there were three games, though. (right?) This is pretty simple. It's just a case of going onto the PSN store and downloading the games from there. I'm pretty sure I did this via the mobile app when I was on holiday. I'd get that as it's sweet. The important thing though is getting games to go with the system. I'd definitely think about Tomb Raider if you haven't played it. Love it. I'm playing Watch Dogs and am enjoying that. Assassin's Creed 4 is next for me to play and The Last of Us is out next week. If you are into these old-school style shooters, Resogun is great. You can find some good deals for games online on that HotUKDeals site. pretty sure you can get games like MGS: Ground Zeroes for about 20 quid new or even cheaper preowned. Tomb Raider is of a similar price. I'm looking at headsets as well. I know the PS4 comes with a set of headphones. Does anyone know if that has a microphone? I don't think it does. I've put it somewhere...may have to look for it.

What would have been a real statement of intent would have been if Nintendo had got the exclusive rights for that collection and made it WiiU only. That would have been a major boost. Maybe not in terms of sales, but in terms of saying to third parties and gamers that they could obtain the big games.

Haha, I was half expecting some sort of trilogy edition down the line. I don't think it's going to happen now. Shame really. I keep seeing ME3 for cheap and I want it but...I want the other ones, too. I guess if push came to shove, you could youtube the story. That seems a bit lame, however. I wouldn't even care about having GamePad controls or use of the screen, I just want the three games on one system.
