Going digital-only with the 3DS actually makes a lot of sense. Say you know you'll be travelling on the bus, but you don't know what games to take with you. Take the system, they'll all be there anyway. I've always thought the idea of carrying a pouch with all of the cartridges in was a bit...stupid, imo. Unless you carry a back-pack with you or something or a handbag. A portable console should just fit in your pocket and that's it, nothing else is needed. Like a mobile phone, imagine having to carry an additional case with you with all of the apps that you wanted to use on it whilst you're waiting at the bus stop. Sounds stupid to me, imo. The killer thing for me with digital content is price, at least for the full games such as Luigi's Mansion, for example. It's too high. I don't understand why it's this much. You'll never convince people to pay for digital with such a stupid price, unless they wait for deals or something. That offer with Mario Kart of being able to download a game for free was amazing.

Will you stick with Nintendo in the future?
Fierce_LiNk replied to Fierce_LiNk's topic in General Gaming Discussion
There's nothing really foolish with buying a system Day 1. I had the Wii right from Day 1. Not foolish at all. On the contrary, it was absolutely fucking awesome. I am proud to say that I was there right at the start with that one. Going home and playing WiiSports and starting Twilight Princess that very same night is going to stay with me forever. Let me just get this right: You like Nintendo and their games, but don't own a WiiU and (more importantly) won't be buying one anytime soon? Does that not strike you as odd. Games should be light hearted and fun, you say...yet you still don't own or want their system. I just find that strange. @darksnowman, if there were simply "heaps of Wii U games to get on with" then I don't think this thread would exist. There is an entire generation of Nintendo fans in this thread who are coming out and saying that they probably won't be purchasing a future Nintendo system, at least not right off the bat. Nintendo have lost fans, many of whom I don't think will come back. Again, you say that there's plenty of games to play on the Wii U but...you yourself don't have one either. Again, that's odd. If the system was truly worth owning, you'd make time for it, surely? -
!!!!!! This brings back so many feels. My uncle used to come around with his MegaDrive and brought this game with him (along with Streets of Rage - the game that convinced me to get a MegaDrive). Fuark. Want to play this so badly right now. I never finished it, it was always too damn hard. What the hell happened after the level where you protect old John Connor in the truck in the future? To Youtube, I go!

I'd love to go back in time and just relive this system's lifetime again. It's great how we started off with WiiSports and ended up with high quality games like Xenoblade. The variation on this machine was insane. For all of its flaws with it being underpowered compared to the competition and being weaker online, it made up for it in different ways. I genuinely wonder what the reaction will be to this system in about 10 years time. The motion controls alone will see it remembered.

I see Bayonetta 2 has an October release date but wikipedia hasn't given a definite date...why is that? Is there a firm set-in-stone date for the game?

It reminded me of Arkham City, funny that you mention that. Mostly from the gameplay, I mean. I read some of the comments on the youtube video I watched and some had written it off as an Assassin's Creed clone. For me, it's one that I can't get excited about until I see some more impressions/reviews. I keep waking up with cold sweats and have bad dreams about Alien turning out like Colonial Marines. I'll just leave this here. Please don't let this happen again. I beg you. -

Really? I looked at some videos of it and thought that the concept looked good, but I imagined it would be one of these games that would look better than it played. Hmm, confusing. Evolve looks great, imo. But, for me, Alien is the game of October by a country mile. I might not even insert the game into the drive on release. I think I'll caress the disc all night whilst serenading it with the soundtrack by Jerry Goldsmith and whispering sweet nurturing sounds of love. Basically, hnnnnnnng. Freeze me until October. -

Alien Isolation Battlefield Hardline DriveClub Evolve The Evil Within (not sure if this will end up being good though) Assassin's Creed Unity Then there's a few games on the "fringe" which I don't know an awful lot about but may actually be decent: Dragon Age: Inquisition Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor A few sports titles such as NBA and WWE. Edit: And as Serebii says, Bayonetta 2 for WiiU. Not sure if releasing that in October was a smart decision. -

Bitches, one of you should make a PS4/One/WiiU: Which first year is better? thread or something. -
I read that, too. Not sure if it's on the BBC Sport page or the RedCafe forums. It's not that surprising really. Pretty sure Ajax over the years have produced a lot of their key players through the youth system. They're not well known for spending stupid amounts of money on big signings, as far as I know. Real Madrid, though. Considering the money that they've spent in the last decade, they probably expected more trophies. They've had/have got Casillas, Raul, both Ronaldos, Kaka, Bale, Figo, Roberto Carlos, David Beckham, Ozil, Zidane, Robben, Sneijder, Higuain, Van Nistelrooy, Cannavaro...the list goes on. That's an incredible amount of players and I've skimped on quite a few too, including some of their current lot like Di Maria (immense last season), Sergio Ramos, etc. A bit insane really looking at what they've had to work with and given the amount of money that they've spent. This makes Atletico Madrid's title victory and Champions League Final appearance look even more spectacular.

I hear Brazil appoint Dunga as their manager. A proper u wot M8 moment. I thought they didn't like Dunga's style when he was there last?

We've gone a bit off topic. I've made a new thread here where we can talk about some of the issues in this thread. Feel free to make additional threads about things that were discussed in here that you'd like to talk about further.

Have Nintendo let you down or have they met or even surpassed your expectations? Will you buy another Nintendo console in the future? Day 1? What do Nintendo have to do differently when the next cycle comes around?
-
A Random File Generator would be awesome. "Today, you are playing...*beep beep beep Mario coins sound* Child of Light."

They've lost a certain crowd and following. Some will come back and will own a Nintendo machine alongside another one, some won't. That's the price they have to pay when they change their strategy, which was to target the non-gamers with the Wii. The difference is that this time they're not really attracting non-gamers or enticing some of their old crowd back. The ones that are buying the machine probably had a Wii beforehand and came back for more. Are many 360 or PS3 only gamers going to get a WiiU or have one already? It's also a price that Nintendo have to pay for not going balls-deep into building a machine that can compete on a technological level with its competitors. How many of us were salivating over F Zero GX or Super Mario 64 or Ocarina of Time or even Wind Waker when they came out? Nintendo fans loved new technology back then. In fact, I seem to remember the console wars where Nintendo gamers used to rip the piss into Playstation owners when the N64 was more powerful than the original playstation, and then the same again when the Cube came along and delivered beautiful games like Wave Race Blue Storm or Resident Evil 4 (that game looked shit hot on the Cube at the time).

I've been into town with one of my friends from work and had a great time. We went back to his place and had a nosey as he's made some changes (new kitchen, garden done up). 'Mirin. Bastard has got a lovely 10, aesthetic kitchen, dat garden furniture, bathroom smells like a perfume factory, the lot. When will it be my turn?

It's been interesting reading all of this. To be honest, this isn't going to change. Nintendo are Nintendo and their strengths lie with creating exclusive gaming content. Everything else they supply is almost as an extra. I've given up on hoping for a huge online F Zero or something to that extent because it's not where Nintendo's strengths are. They'll get better with the online, but realistically it's always going to be behind the competition. It's just far easier now to live with it and accept their flaws because...it'll just drive you mad otherwise. One thing is for sure, I don't regret getting another machine alongside the WiiU. Unfortunately, I think it is the way to go because if you want all of these online experiences or that feeling of a "complete" system, you're not going to get that with just a Nintendo machine. At least, not with this machine. I've got a Playstation App on my phone and was able to set the free PSN titles to download as soon as I got back, or add friends to my list when I was on holiday. My account is linked to Facebook, so as soon as I change my profile image on Facebook, the PSN image changes. I like this sorta stuff and it makes the whole experience more of...an experience, imo. It's one. You're just not going to get that sorta stuff with Nintendo because they don't think in that way. But, they have their own strengths or areas where they excel at. And, occasionally, they'll deliver something that is "wow". Miiverse is one of those things. If they can do more of that, then good. They have to, because we're sure as hell not going to get the other stuff. :p

Looks great, but the price tag stings me, atm. Considering that I'll be getting Destiny, Alien, FIFA and most probably Evolve over the next few months, I wonder if I'll be taking the piss a bit with money on gaming. Will have to have a shop around and see if there's anything a bit more affordable. Is the quality really that great then? What's the microphone like?
-
It's the one by the station. It might have been that way for some time, but I never go into the ASDA there any more as we live in Westbourne. (Sainsburys, brah) I got my WiiU from there, although they had to order it in for me to come and collect. After that, they swiftly removed all WiiU stock (what little they had) if I remember right.

I've got headphones that I use with my guitar amp that can work with the PS4 controller, but no microphone on it. Funny enough, I was going to post in this thread a few days ago above this very issue. Is this the one? Quite pricey, isn't it?!
-
Maybe wait for Oddworld and get Resogun in the mean time, aha. InFamous is a must buy for me, although I think it may be one to put on the Christmas list. Between now and then, there's far too many other games coming out.

Who are the strikers on Liverpool's books atm? Sturridge, Lambert, Borini and possibly Remy? Could work, but that is a great price for Borini. I can't see him being worth more than that next year as he will behind all of those other strikers at Liverpool, so will inevitably get less game time. Will be surprised if Liverpool don't cash in now. Edit: In more important news, Club Hero Patrice Evra has gone to Juventus. Amazing player for us. Will miss him greatly at the club, although I think he is doing the right thing by moving on.

Ah, forgot it was on Plus. PS4 version, yes? Try it, it's a lovely game. It looked really, really good at the time and it was just absolutely manic.

How should the Zelda series evolve in future games?
Fierce_LiNk replied to Fierce_LiNk's topic in General Gaming Discussion
Majora's Mask was great for its approach, but I don't think Nintendo have it in them to create another game like that, especially given how dark it was at times in terms of mood and atmosphere. The time mechanic was quite divisive at the time. I loved it and would welcome it with open arms. The notion of a world being one "big" area that's connected is a must. I'll be surprised if we don't see that in the next Zelda. When Nintendo talk about open world, I get the feeling that they mean being able to tackle dungeons in a different order, which is fine. What I'd like to see is different ways to tackle a dungeon. For example, what if there were multiple ways to solve a particular puzzle rather than a simple move a block from point a to point b mechanic.
