Fuck anything else. Even at 40 quid a year that's what..£3.33 a month? Even considering the free games(admittedly mixed but you get a few) that's pretty good. Consider the online functionality of the system, gaming and servers(honestly rarely have issues, the most common seem p2p NAT based if anything) and really - as I think you even mentioned otherwise here or elsewhere - with inflation it's still a pretty good service for what it offers. Plus+ I just renewed a year during summer days sale for 30 quid. £2.50 a month. I've played alienation maybe 6-8 hours this past week(free ps+ game) alone in addition to overwatching for probably 10-15. Call that 20 and it's what....12.5p per hours gaming? Probably even less for folks other than me or when I go even harder on a a ps+ title. EDIT: did I fuck my maths and not seperate monthly and weekly? In that event it's actually quarter of the above and closer at about 3-4p an hour. I must admit I've no idea what ms offer these days but the ps+ service does good enough for me. Like almost anyone, all the time, I want things cheaper but really this isn't one to complain about. Ever buy a 40-50quid N64 game as a kid and realise but it's too late? Compare that to PS+ and you're really bloody laughing - especially as a working grown up with money coming in!
-
For one I'm not sure if I've ever actually paid £40 for PS+ and not sure why everyone else is?? Can easily get it cheaper all sorts of ways. Besides tbh for me at least for an online service I find ps+ pretty realiable and consistent(other than patch/update/game downloads taking long but that may be my ISP or area speaking to others) - given what it's provided me so far both with the ps+ content and online for all those hours of Overwatch - I'd say I've definitely got my money's worth. If it goes up by another tenner I don't mind - though I will admit I'm still expecting to be getting deals on subs below that price anyway.

What worries me be most about all of this is how seemingly ok it is to be a massive prick in office in the West without too much accountability? Trump and May mirror each other muchly (heh) at the moment. I think whilst it doesn't seem so obvious it is a turning point of seeing whether the right can still dominate or not. Though on that note Obamacare is apparently continuing as the vote to repeal has failed. As our country slowly bleeds, underfunds and kills our NHS the US apparently seem to be gripping their system by the horns and holding on to the closest semblance of nationalised healthcare they have for the greater good of society.

Your logic ties the two very well together and I can't presently pick it apart to say it's wrong. In my head I feel it's assuming a counter-correlate relation and the only example I can think of against that is this: say in an ecosystem food source increases - this leads to an increase in that predator's(or omni/herbivore) population but an increase in Omni/herbivore population wouldn't neccessarily lead to an increase in food source etc. To second - is there NOT a notable increase in men* with lower levels of testosterone? Like...I'm not saying there is or isn't either way but exactly that - unless you can say there isn't more than you can say there is - they both currently stand valid. Essentially until someone actually assesses either and/or the other? *I earlier typo'd this as 'me'. I thought it was amusing to leave.

I fucking hate trying to reply to this on my phone. I can sorta see your point and originally misconstrued it @Grazza. I think a big issue here is the suggestion of cause and effect - some are thinking you're suggesting a cause when you're suggesting the effect. IE. Rather than saying more feminine behaviour in men is chasing this, is this causing the more feminine behavour in men? Interesting food for thought. I know the issue of medication/drugs in the West getting into water is another speculation of cause for issues like this - but again is it cause, effect, or just a separate correlation factor that does not mean causation?
-
I think one of the problems here with the thread and the subject matter is that is emotive - and too many of you are going to make assumptions on each other. There's not a lot doable on my part to avoid this - but try and be mindful when composing your responses. If you're all replying and responding on invisible assumptions you essentially end up being two people in a room shouting at each other but having completely different conversations. Ask questions and try to understand each other to clarify every presumption you make!
-
Agreed. I do think there's different points being made here and linked up when not neccessairly linked. However I do feel they're all rather worthy of discussion! Edit pending so please don't quote... - see below!
-
Whilst I do admit I can see where you're coming form Grazza I do have to point out the obvious(and presumable emotive reactions you'll receive as a result) flaw in this statement. You're equating effeminate behaviour with homosexuality. It isn't equatable and never should or will be. I know very camp straight people, I know rather 'masculine' gay people. I don't think it's a point you meant to be hung up on, nor do I really want to it to become the focus of this topic - but I can see it definitely happening through the equation of two factors not neccessairly all that interlinked.
-
Look guys - I'm not agreeing with Grazza but neither am I wholly disagreeing. I do however have to admit I don't know enough on biology to make full judgements - I can see the merit in the argument of reduced emission of testosterone in the body due to less masculine behaviour having a possible knock on in to reproductive issues etc. Again, I don't agree or neccessairly hold it but I can see the train of thought from someone who isn't an expert. I would say, whilst not related to the article, it's an arguably worthy point of conversation to consider though?
-
Guys you may disagree on finer points on this issue - but everyone is entitled to their opinions. As long as you conduct yourself with respect towards your fellow members then all is fine. Personally I don't think the idea of 'acting' less masculine has a knock on on this - I'm fairly comfortable with my maleness yet often don't act particularly masculine. I don't know if that's going to affect my ability to have kids - but judging from my heritage and 21 siblings to my mother and father alone that I'm hopefully going to be fine
-
Kinda my sentiments atm tbh. I didn't fancy the PvP much and I need to play the strike a few more times. Kinda like yourself - I didn't dislike anything particularly but it did feel somewhat Destiny 1.5 and I'm not sure I like some of the changes. Sadly the real crack in the game is the social - I realise I'll be all over this with everyone when it comes out for that alone. I think also there's going to be so many more people playing this time (plus added social options) that you won't struggle to find fireteams. Still nonetheless - I'm not sure which/what version of this I'll get. I may even wait a bit before delving in...just not sure yet. Originally was gonna get an edition with the first two expansions but not even sure I will now.
-
I'm likely going to hold you to this so might as well ask now - to what level do you believe it will change and improve? I don't think the reaction is overly negative either - this isn't some E3 reveal about something potentially coming next year - this is a current market reality with a product in consumers and retailers' hands. Edit: can't get my quotes to work proper on phone but @Sheikah I'd say see my post above and it's actually already worse than Skype. Locking out so much on the phone in addition to the screen is a terrible terrible design choice(or lack thereof rather)
-
1. Can people stop this please. Stop saying it's people taking 'worst case'. If the app requires the screen to be on/unlocked constantly - is that a fact or a 'worse case scenario'? If the app does not allow you to switch focus to anything else on the phone without cutting - is that a fact or a 'worst case scenario'? If these two things ARE fact - I can already tell you that it's not good. @Cube @Goron_3 @are1981 @Pestneb and I'm sure others who I can't recall immediately will know that we already had to make our own voice chat solution with Splatoon on WiiU - this for us was Skype through phones/smart devices/computers. Even this as itself isn't a perfect solution and we shouldn't have to be seeking them to complement our online play - BUT even if so; if the above two issues of the app are correct then I can pretty confidently tell you the experience of this app for chatting etc for Splatoon 2, compared to our experience with Splatoon 1 where we had to seek our solution through Skype ourselves, will certainly be shitter for reasons already mentioned(screen battery drain, inabilty to multitask/use phone without app interruption etc). 2. You're saying people are taking a worst-case scenario then blindly present an unfounded 'the app will most likely be entirely functional once it's released properly'. Based on what? You can't accuse people of going worst-case with actual information to base it on, then blindly offer a positive counter with literally nothing to support it.

Tbh you're summing me up pretty much here too. I've been holding off on Switch depending on its online infrastructure/system - everything I've seen of this app now is just unacceptable to me. I don't think I can bring myself to buy a Switch if this is going to be the online implementation - tbh it sounds worse than the fucking skype setup we used to use for Splatoon - and we were doing that however many years ago now. It's truly just...unbelievable, almost. The sad thing is any money I might have had for a Switch is actually likely to go towards getting a second PS4. I literally don't need one, but I keep getting a hankering for second one and it's a shame I'm likely to spend money on a second over a Switch - but I just can't justify the Switch's price for what it offers now. Again I make my point that they're experienced enough to know better, and I'm glad you can see that here at least. Not sure why you actually expect an improvement in the app - but time shall tell. It looks to me like all the fundamentals of it are wrong to start with - these fixes surely will involve another overhaul. Can anyone tell me why the app isn't ready yet? What the excuse is in it this time? Was this one also beyond their control?

Tbh I'm not sure if you noticed but I wasn't playing too hard @Fierce_LiNk Given me and Sheikah joined your group I felt a bit mean going too hard against the competition as they weren't very high level so was just trying to keep you up and supported mostly! Having said that the Volskaya cap then took me by surprise so I did think considering that the final hold wasn't too bad given the length! They did have a good player or two trying to push in but it just demonstrates the power of grouping up rather than trickling in etc. How're you finding the game so far? If you're gonna be playing it a bit more I'll be up for grouping up a bit more some time. EDIT: Completely missed the posts since Monday; so seen a bit more of your thoughts on the game @Fierce_LiNk. Sadly, I'm going to add to the overtime argument. Now it's slightly different for most of us in comparison to yourself, as we've seen the different iterations of the feature. I think as you play more and more Overwatch however you'll start to come to appreciate the Overtime feature and see where it's made a difference, and a fair difference too. What if you're at 99.9% on point attacking and the clock hits 0? What if there's no opposition on point? Should you lose just because time ran out, despite at that moment in time technically winning the game? So it goes into Overtime. Take from that, you get defended against, you lose 5 of your team and are the last person on point, there's 2 of the enemy left but you're a character that maybe has an advantage and can wipe them. Now again without a looseness/buffer in the overtime; despite you guys almost winning the match if you're forced to step off the cap area without the overtime buffer(to avoid fire etc) then it'd immediately end because you stepped a millimetre off - that too wouldn't feel very fair; especially to you if you're the last one holding it! Also I've not seen it mentioned but iirc one big change that was made to Overtime a few months back is actually a spawning delay - before the defense team could keep rushing back to point iirc - now there's an increasingly added delay to each defense death's spawn if they haven't got numbers advantage on the point or something; so even Overtime itself they did try to balance out a bit. I can't recall the exact mechanic, but I think it's probably made Overtime even fairer now than it probably was before; so maybe we as the earlier adopters are a bit too spoilt to complain about it
-
I wouldn't go that far, but clearly shows they don't fully trust it to commit to. Can you say you blame them though?
-
Your opponents are AI but your teammates I do believe are not....

When's Stardew Valley due for Switch? I got it on PS4 a month or two back and macked out for a while until I once again found it tedious sitting down at a TV for (that's me and the time I'd end up wasting in my life, rather than the game) and would love it in a portable format. I highly recommend it on Switch for any old school pre-n64 harvest moon fans or for anyone who hasn't HM'd before I'd say check out some reviews etc. I think it's a really fucking good play to get that on the system, and I think we'll see some articles about its uptake on Switch being bigger than maybe expected given shortages and install base etc.
-
Aye was wondering if they're gonna drip feed the weapons and maps again. It isn't the best way to do it but for early adopters it may help keep the game fresh until they're all out - it was fun seeing the little meta shifts in the original.
-
What kind of content is gonna be in the free updates for the year?
-
No one can hide from my sight I've not kept up with much in the last few months and unfortunately missed pretty much all of E3 but I was wondering - are they doing the trickle feed of content with this similar to how they did with the WiiU version?
-
Did you have/play Splatoon much on WiiU? Tbh if I had a switch I'd definitely see Splatoon, (Overwatch, Destiny) and Oddessey seeing me at least into next year. The portability of Switch does make me tempted too - I haven't even done any dungeon things in BotW yet cos I just can't be arsed to sit down with it on the TV.
-
From a quick look at upcomings for me it'd be Odessey tho I'm a bit mixed on it, but Switch is still on the back burner for me until we know a bit more about online and if a good bargain happens to come up. Splatoon 2 would be the real seller for me otherwise atm! Out of interest as I haven't been around/followed it did the Joycon interference issues get a good universal fix? I know some had the conductive sponge done but were still getting some issues then too.
-
Nice to see you guys literally can't read nor answer my questions in a discussion thread for the Switch - these 'facts/reports' are mentioned, referenced, and explored further in my posts. Not to mention that whilst I haven't posted much here lately - my old warning about complaining about complaining still stands @Ronnie and anyone else. Warnings will be issued.
