  1. Whaaaat? When did you pre-order with Amazon?? I put mine down the day after the Switch reveal iirc and last I knew they said it was coming for today. I hope that's still the case!! Shocking that they seem unable to sort it out/help you much too - especially strange they can't help with PrimeNow given it's generally all under their banner; whether run by them or not. As for the Argos/returns question - can't see any reason why not at all. I've done it a few times since I was a kid with stuff that didn't turn up on time - if it's a sealed copy on what grounds can they really refuse you? Nobody bothers to particularly mark them or anything unless it's somewhere like Game etc where they gut the games and use the boxes on shelves. EDIT: Just seen Hero's mention about the stickers but I don't know if they do that for every single product; tbh even if someone questioned it I'd just feign innocence and say I got it like that - as I said who's all that likely to refuse a sealed game with receipt? Rather disappointed hearing this from both of you, but I'm still hopeful it won't bother me too much as I don't think I'll have been as spoiled by other experience. The one question I would ask though - how does its barren feeling compare to that of TP? They made a huge world there and left it mostly empty; which was an early concern of mine for this so I was curious how you felt it compares?
  2. It's actually quite confusing to me at the moment now. Obviously I'm sure it'd make more sense if I had my hands on a Switch; but it's another thing that sounds a bit messy and puts me off! Wouldn't be enough by itself as it's quite small really but add it in with other bits and I feel worried for the system...
  3. >See Hero-of-Time has posted in thread >am dissappoint to see it isn't to say he's just finished off the final boss Was just thinking about this myself, was contemplating editing the title of this to say potential spoilers but ask people to post and use spoiler tags? Of course I've seen people say spoilers aren't so great on the Tap-a-talk app thingy so I dunno - what do people want? One thread or two?? Or if anyone's particularly keen on it they could create a 'non-spoiler' thread and we'll see how it goes?
  4. I think the point is that it isn't clear either way, but it's not illogical to reach the assumption that it's not entirely software related if they've issued a software patch which hasn't fixed it. Nintendo should really be trying to get on top of this, and say something to the people all planning to jump in with their shiny new Switches tomorrow who could face potential disappointment if they have issues like this. I can certainly see it leading to people possibly refunding the system as faulty and getting something else - which isn't going to be good for the Switch nor its future.
  5. Gotta wonder slightly if they're hoping to cash in on any Switch fence-sitters with that...
  6. It's ok, you can still keep your title of being our oldest spambot instead <3 Shame about the Joycon issue still being a thing - is there any progress on what's the actual cause? Either from Nintendo officially(alawl) or from fans who've tried to figure it out beyond just speculating?
  7. I can't recall if it was here or elsewhere but I recall @Shorty mentioning about the devaluing of giving 'top' scores too often. To see so many on there doesn't strike me as necessarily being a good thing - I don't think I'll find them worth as much as possibly a review without a perfect score tbh. Having said that I don't really need a review or anything with the game on its way to us tomorrow! Did get me thinking though - when did the Skyward Sword review from Edge come out? I recall reading that and it doing well for some of my hype for the game; but it was certainly around earlier than a day or two before? Makes me wonder why you'd leave it so tight when Zelda's a main offering for Switch- unless ofc it is actually Switch related.
  8. Did anyone pre-order with The Game Collection? My mate's already got his BotW switch version today but is getting the Switch itself at his local GAME later - curious if TGC only sent out Zelda copies earlier but not the consoles, or if consoles are arriving for folks today? EDIT: Also did anyone here take a punt on the GameSeek deal? Not expecting you to have the systems today but would be interested to know if anything goes wrong with their process or they deliver late!
  9. I was wondering who the fuck that was - seeing them as last post in the Investments thread in GCC I thought it was going to be some new spambot! Saw liger mentioned about Friend codes in the other thread - really peculiar that they're back imo, silly and bizarre decisions from Nintendo but I have to admit I've not read the details and only know from what posts I've seen here so far.
  10. Just seen it. I knew it wasn't going to be quite as superhero-ey as most of the other marvel films but I still very much enjoyed it and was pleasantly surprised. Knee nothing of the plot details really and was happy to see a character or two in it! I'll probs write up a better and less vague(but spoilered) post tmw or so! Very good film tho - recommend it highly but just add the caveat it's possibly not as comic booky as you might otherwise be expecting, yet still a fairly decent film experience* hopefully. (*Too marvel biased to judge truly objectively :P)
  11. Fair point - for me it needs to be pocketable tho! The other argument that comes in which I recall some made before comes back to the issue of lack of browser - would you carry this AND a tablet like an iPad at the same time? Really it's me and my situations - if I was in Kav's position I'd have a Switch in a heartbeat as I'd get so much more out of it all along the way.
  12. Buuuut...What if you ain't carrying a bag :P? If I had an iPad I know I probably wouldn't take it out with me a lot of the time if I had to stick it in a bag - either because I don't have a bag or I don't trust carrying that level of tech around not on my immediate person!
  13. Find me a site with an equally good or better structured review and I'll gladly jump ship I just think a single X/10 score is simply just too shallow to surmise a game really. Rarely does anyone look for just one thing in their games - so why do so many outlets insist or summarising it with a 10 point scale?!
  14. What if you ain't carrying a bag? I often still carry my original OoT 3ds for my steps and possible streetpasses(which seem less frequent than they used to but meh) but that is just about right for an excellent pocket size not to mention clamshell obvs almost protects the screen in itself - I don't know what I'd be doing if I had a Switch to carry with me instead. Already both my 3DS shoulder buttons have broken/only work very rarely - and I'm convinced that's related to me carrying it round so often. I don't know if I'd dare risk a Switch screen etc but if I'm putting a case on that already rather large bad boy then I don't exactly know where I'm going to be carrying the thing!
  15. To be truly honest with you since I've been browsing this site for the last whatever many years I've yet to find a review system I prefer more that N-Europe's. It's further helped by the fact I obviously know a bit about the reviewers now - but I think the n-europe structure of a detailed written review, a summary score but most importantly the multi-aspect subscoring of what you'd kind of look for in a game really does tick the boxes for a good review. Don't know who/if anyone is reviewing this for the site or the version but it's probably going to be the only one I contemplate reading.
  16. Given the semi-tangential debates about why people are buying, I have to say that your situation certainly makes a ton of sense to me - were I in a similar situation I'd have the Switch in a heartbeat; but without that commute time I need to consider what it's offering over my other living room experiences ATM. Ofc I don't mod here but I do echo Shorty's sentiments on the post' beginnings. I know this thread came up for a number of reasons but we don't need to keep perpetuating them! Just airing my thoughts here, mind. I share your sentiments on the reviews I think. What's reassuring however is that the 'good' is pretty hardware based which ideally shouldn't change much, and the bad is essentially lack of software for said hardware that will hopefully be able to be resolved with time. My main worries/concerns after Wii U is that they won't do enough with this to build and keep momentum even in the face of poor sales if they occur - but seeing their marketing, attempts at indie engagement and 'curation', plus potential upcoming titles and possibilities I'm hoping they really have learnt their lesson and act upon it this time round. I can easily wait a year or so for Switch for this reassurance whilst I've got my ps4 and other distractions.
  17. Many have drawn the parallels of it going back to its roots like that - even in this thread too! I don't think many are thinking of it as the 'first' but that it's more open than any Zelda has been in a long while, maybe? I think it's going to be interesting and certainly something Aonuma has been working towards for a while - ALBW felt like a bit of an experiment with the idea to me, though not without some shortcomings.
  18. A bit like @Daft i'm thinking that the Switch money I'd spend could easily go towards a PSVR(which I tried briefly for the first time last sat, on a resi demo I think? Was an interesting experience!) - but I feel like despite it being more novel and more interesting that I currently want VR less that I'd want a Switch, albeit for similar reasons of it not really doing enough for me for the price at the moment etc. Thinking about the Switch cost in context of other things the money could buy keeps raising a strange perspective of contradiction in my mind - how do Nintendo manage to still do this to me!
  19. Tbh I think the arguments can be made infinitely either way. For example you could argue that Nintendo have more game-making experience than RockStar not to mention it being their hardware so it shouldn't be excusable etcetc. Personally I imagine as I said I won't even notice it anyway - plus those Alanah Pearce(no idea who that is) comments seem to suggest it's minimal too. Errr...wat?? When did you pre-order your copy, presuming you did?? I did mine the day after the Switch conference because I was worried about exactly this sort of thing! Hope it doesn't affect me, starting to get used to the idea of playing it this soon...!
  20. Just seen this - 'joking' doesn't cut it and yellow infraction issued. Less of this sort of thing please, everyone. Edit: for those who miss the issue - stop making arguments about people personally. I realise the line between commenting on someone's opinions and commenting on them as people is a thin one but I also think most of us here are old enough to know where it roughly is and I'm getting tired of seeing it and being ignored every time I ask for it to cease. It does little to nothing to foster a good community or relations with each other and the last few posts illustrate how it isn't beneficial to threads or discussions either.
  21. Tbh that's fair enough as it'll come in at my parents' anyhow and I'm pretty busy but was curious - but was hoping I could sneak in a starter sesh on maybe Thursday eve! May take a full- or half-day or two off work for it next week though, just settle in for a proper heavy day or so on it. I'm weirdly both excited and indifferent for/to the game at the same time. Feeling like it's definitely going to be a bit different once I get my hands on it - plus it helps not having too high expectations so far that it may very well pleasantly surprise me!
  22. Seems to me that a few of the fence adopters are intrigued by the tech more than anything else. I must be honest the idea of it does certainly appeal to me too, though HD rumble and NFC/amiibo don't fuss me so much; and the uncertainties around online and general success/support of the console after the Wii U is still leaving me rather weary combined with the price it's at. Tbh even at £200 it seems mad I'd drop money on something not supported to the extent I might like - but that's about my mark on what I'd pay for the experience atm. If I compare it to what I could buy for similar vs the competition I start to think it's a bit of a silly, even if I can't shift it!
  23. I've got a weird kinda kitchen-specific carpety thing in mine I think(came with the house) - not so food stained per se but definitely holds some other mystery stains on it! I've got carpet in my damn bathroom too - whilst it's kinda nice for the feet I certainly wouldn't consider either in the future for when I get the rooms done!
  24. It doesn't, but Nintendo have previously stated it's a home console not a handheld - so if finger pointing needs to be made it should really be at them. I think it was silly of them to fall down on either side of the debate tbh.
  25. I'd dare say you're only really going to notice the differences if you're getting/playing both versions. May just be me though - but I don't particularly consciously notice all these little differences in framerates etc - a bit of weak graphics don't bother me it's only if it's causing a slowdown that I find noticeable really. On another note - those familiar with Amazon should I get any hopes up of possibly getting this game BEFORE Friday, or is it likely to be a Friday delivery? I'm both hyped and lazy at the same time right now - but I think having it in my bedroom over living room should hopefully make a big difference.
