General Gaming Sales/Charts Discussion
Rummy replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in General Gaming Discussion
Never played SR1 but I got and played SR2 simply from the stupidity of the SR3 trailer way before that was out. To date I'd still rate SR2 as one of my most memorable games for some of the things it did, whilst doing things that were kinda on top of the things it was imitating. It was a parody that was also not only just a parody, imo. Real great game - if it could be a cheap port to Switch I'd say they should definitely do it. It might feel a bit dated but it kinda protects itself from that with its own ridiculousness. -
So you think this is just prepping for 2023? Given that Star Wars is such a huge brand for them atm(and imo Disney are one of the sinister kings of branding) and they the Battlefront stuff caused such public outrage and backlash that did damage aspects of the brand - as a parent company/licensor they would not be happy about that. Obviously I wouldn't be the only point to bring and the legals will be nitty gritty and technical and we don't know contract/license agreements in full etc - but this strikes me as the sort of thing that'll ultimately come down to lawyer Vs lawyer and when it comes to it Disney will probably win cos they've got the bigger size and money behind them to have the better opposition in a dispute. EA are big, and they're thrown their weight around on occasion due to it, I find it quite interesting to think they may be about to tangle with someone bigger than themselves.

You funny guy, you funny. Weirdly I have faith in the production of a game from Disney/Lucas etc under the unified banner; even if the idea of so much of our popular entertainment media being under such a large banner isn't so reassuring Like could anything be worse than EA? Do you really think Disney/owners wouldn't have to try stepping in after the BF2 and microtransactions/pay to play debacle? It was kinda inevitable, Disney just needed to wait for it to die down before stepping in to avoid major brand damage. My prediction would be to rest assured - this isn't an 'approach', they're gonna be getting it back. (Soz, deleted my post by accident when trying to get an edit to work, so thought to just chuck it back up for matter of record so you don't look mad talking to yourself) Also to follow that in response - I'm not a big SW fan(nothing against it) but I agree about EA, I wasn't just taking about them being useless on the microtransactions. Tbh I wasn't even just talking about them being useless on Star Wars either.

So! Had a quick search and it seems there's no actual topic for this film! I saw it last night, absolutely loved it, and it's probably my fave marvel film and it made me feel like I did after Guardians 1(think that and this are their two best films). Won't post too much more than an extended trailer for those who haven't followed it much. Those who've seen it - what did you think? I don't think I've quite realised how in love with it I even am yet.
-
I'm probably still too low to join yet(thought I'd love to) in addition to going to see Black Panther with my marvel mate tonight, if you know when you guys might be on always give me a bit of an advanced notice shout? I'll try and smash through it a bit on thursday-sunday to get my HR up a bit closer to 10-12ish and some bits that feel ok. My biggest problem with games like this(or any with an inventory :p) is that I'm an absolute hoarder
-
These folks with their HR49s and I'm still here probably barely HR5. This was a bad idea for me as I've been not dealing with life enough recently, but by that token I'm trying to not play it as 'casually' as the equally if not more dangerous OW Having said that given my MH experience is limited to a few hours of solo play in MH3U, I'm slowly growing to enjoy this as I start to understand it more. Not just the monsters and weapons and whatnot mind, even just some of the interfacing! The multiplayer looks rather excellently designed for dropping in and out and finding company to play with - credit both to the makers and Sony themselves too. As much as I'm not looking to rush into it yet(and I think we'll be surprised by its end of year sales) I know I'm gonna get a lot of fun and time out of it eventually. Bit frustrating as previously mentioned however that the early missions are difficult/unclear in weather multi. I know H-o-T said it earlier but even so it wasn't quite clear to me at first that people couldn't join me until certain cutscenes.

So just been seeing Smash on Switch come up in a couple threads I was browsing recent and thought; hey! Why the hell not make a thread about one of the most beloved Nintendo franchises of all time! So, what do you think or hope we'll see with Smash Switch? Any concerns or worries? Good character ideas to have in the game? What about new items and assist trophies etc? Ideal stages you'd like to see? Any other things I've not even thought of you thinking about??
-
Doesn't the site specifically stated that this isn't the case?
-
Shame they fucked us so hard on the Wii U then innit It's swings and roundabouts. You can say they were doing this with 3DS but why not with Wii U? It's all just business really - the Switch is doing well so why wouldn't you look to support a successful looking venture long-term?
-
Not quite an ADQ but Marc just put me onto this video about SMB1 4-2, is an interesting little watch for those who enjoy some of the small technicals. Essentially a 20 minute focus on one of the most notable levels on a speedrunning route in history, and both the opportunities and challenges its technique has evolved through.
-
I haven't got any techniques myself, just know all the routes and levels. There's usually an exit I forget somewhere, and it's frustrating because it's hard to tell for some which ones you got and didn't! Forest of illusion particularly. The only thing I'd know for a bowser run is basically taking the first startling road route and getting round there! I might give it a quick go now and see how I get on...(absolutely no way can I do it like the pros, nor most likely not die at least once). Tbh I don't even recall the best door route at bowsers castle! I think as a kid we used to take 3 and maybe 8? Iono. I usually guess and go with the flow! EDIT: Nope! Half hour about to get to Bowser even for the first time, with deaths on the way. I'm very bad at this. Editedit: or maybe I'll just say that an thrash bowser. Took the 3 route to get a cape for backup tho. Goddamn I need to brush up!
-
Not usually a Kaizo fan but that and the TASBot closeout were indeed very awesome. I definitely wanna have a SMW speedrun-off with you someday man. Maybe start with a bowser speed run then a race to see how quick we'd get all 96(I've never tried it at speed, always play at usual pace). Sponsorship on a per-achievement/level completion basis could be cool with sacrifices etc(obvs thinking on a charity context as part of something a bit bigger). 10p per death from ourselves, 5-20p per exit found from sponsors who don't wanna just flatrate etc.
-
In what sort of sense, @sven?
-
I'm not gonna be picking this up til April as I've got a busy few months and bad enough at doing stuff already. I should be able to catch up and hunt with guys if I get into it still then, right?
-
If we've got a few regular folks then that's cool! I assume the max party size in the final thing will still be 4? It's really the online/multi that's gonna get me into it - hopefully might convince a few mates but I did that with D2 and now maybe they're a little less likely to trust me
-
Played the demo/beta thingy when it was up for the weekend - enjoyed it. Always missed out on the multiplayer aspect of MH and so never got involved with folks here - I'd be getting it essentially for running the hunts with folks on the regular and helping each other out etc. Saying that, how many folks are we going to have about for regular stuff from here on PS4?

Soooo....I think through some specialness of my own I may not have actually been watching this year's, yet I can't find the original damn twitch stream I had to finish the one I WAS watching! They weren't far off world 6 I had wondered as you don't mention it much @drahkon, dunno what to say about YI after all as from what I've seen of the actual one from this year it seems more lively than I described. I like SMW runs still but they've gotten to some points where it's just crazy beyond sense! Edit: can ANYONE tell me when the fuck this clip is from?? I honestly can't find any fucking info to date it. @Dcubed you know your AGDQ stuff right?! - https://m.twitch.tv/gamesdonequick/v/5852154?sr=a&t=0s Editedit: think it's a 2015 stream! Checked the hashtag. Fucking AGDQ/Twitter need to sort their fucking organisation and titling out even if I have enjoyed this!

Forgot this was happening til my mate reminded me last night. Just been watching the Yoshi's Island any% warpless race atm as my first outing of this year's offerings. I'm probs gonna be only catching up on the shorter/old school ones that I used to like due to time and also OWL time too. It's not the most fascinating watch for those who aren't big fans - the main commentator doesn't sound(not to say he isn't) very punchy and loses himself on occasion, which is a shame as he has great knowledge of the runs but doesn't get it across enough imo for the regular viewer. On top of that there aren't too many obvious 'tricks' as it were, so less to talk about for the technical side. Being over an hour on top doesn't help either - BUT! Having said that as a massive YI fan(dunno where you sit on it @drahkon, know you're a big SMW fan) I'm enjoying it to watch as a 4 way race. Not understanding entirely how/where some of these big gaps are getting closed but finding it fun, maybe through slight reminiscence I was watching an old one from somewhere! Still enoyable nonetheless. Makes me really want to do a charity gaming run/marathon like the guys have done here in the past. Tbh I'm watching YI and I'm really thinking how awesome it'd be to do a fast bowser run against Drahkon, as well as an attempt at all exits Edit:fuckers. Tempted fate it seems and twitch/Chromecast just gave up on me.

I'll admit I'm not keen on Nex Machina(nor much else) at its current price due to monies issues; but I did end up buying the Alienation DLC a few months back after enjoying it so much on ps4 - so whilst it's probably an exception to the whole it isn't always terrible being a free game. Nonetheless it's a shame to see/hear Housemarque moving out of the genre is kinda sucky to hear, but then again they've done so well with what they've done so far maybe they'll excel in a new genre too...
-
Are there any particular PS3 titles you might be after SCG? I got a dirty deal on a PS3 about 5 years back with a ton of games I thought I'd sell on or play but never did. If there's anything I've got your bro might want(unlikely to be anything rare/valuable or sealed) I can have a look if I've got it.

Hey! Saw you post about Hue in the PS+ thread - I finished last night and I was just wondering what you thought of the story in it, for what there was?
-
Deffo agree folks should check it out. It's a fairly nice and simple little puzzle platform that has a great aesthetic for me, both in its simplistic silouhette visuals and its soft piano soundtrack, as well as being a short commitment. HLTB clocks it in somewhere around 5 hours max I think and it also looks to be a fairly easy plat - the trophies barring one are basically 'play the game' trophies Gameplay wise it's fairly simple; colour changing puzzles with a bit of platforming. Nothing about it is too terribly challenging(in the way puzzles kind of are or aren't) though I did get stuck on one or two rooms but solved them with a bit of time or a break. Can kinda see the issue with pacing - I think I stuck with Hue knowing it wasn't going to be too long a game but really it's a minor niggle. As you'd expect it does introduce more elements as it goes along, and I felt those were generally done quite well to add a bit of freshness as you go along. Deffo recommend it. It isn't overly difficult despite my struggling in places, but something about the game makes that feel kinda ok either way.

Ahhh, I used to have that with an old phone but thankfully not with my G4. Weridly the burn seems harder to see atm(diff area/lighting tho) and Google did suggest some folks suggesting it might go away - maybe something on my phone just happened to keep it as screen on for a long time and it was a temporary effect. I'll see if I can still see it in the morning.
-
Bit of a bump to my Moto G4 friends - have you noticed that the status/icon bar up top actually causes a screen burn? I've noticed faint images of the old notification icons that much have stayed up there whilst I've used my phone extensively. Bit of an oversight imo - especially as the phone is only like 9 months old?

Microsoft are basically doing a bit of the ol' Nintendo imo. They've grown arrogant(possibly due to their youth) and thought they'd get away with it. I think their division also as part of a larger company doesn't neccessarily matter to them as much. I think ps4 is different because Sony's gaming division brings so much to them and probably kept them alive and saved them from potential disaster. I think MS just haven't realised they have to adapt - some might argue Sony made the same mistakes in the past until the ps4 and more engagement with the west. I think the bheaviour of MS compared to others will look a bit different off the actual situations because of them being a part of a much more successful company. Some have wondered for a while if they'll even properly continue pursuing the home video game console market - I think this is a sign of indication of the level of engagement they might have going forwards.
