  1. I don't know much about the forum's backend structure. But wouldn't this be possible with the tags you can attach to topics (like how the General Switch Discussion has a switch tag)? So everything tagged nintendo, switch, or ds winds up here. Stuff tagged differently ends up in the Other Consoles bit. To be honest I don't even know how to add tags to topics, but there must be someone here who does.
  2. Maybe they make the portable one a clamshell again, buttons on the bottom part, making it a lot less wide. So basically, a Nintendo Switch SP.
  3. I've only played FF Tactics a bit and one of the 3D rereleases on the DS (edit: oh, and Crystal Chronicles on the GC). Of all FF games coming to the Switch, what would be the best one or most interesting one to start with? Taking into account that I have no desire to play them all so starting with the oldest and moving up is not necessary for me.
  4. Yeah I really liked HGH's graphical presentation, so it is a bit of a shame they seem to be going back to the simpler style. On the other hand, if this means a more complete game plus more humour in the style of Pirate's Curse then please do!
  5. Regarding the walls, I think you can see if there is a wall you can walk through (there are some darker pixels as a shadow, but it is really not apparent). And cheap tactics, don't forget the dead ends or dungeon exits. I'm also currently playing it, and just finished the Ghost Tunnel. Let's just say thanks for having savestates...
  6. Obviously Cuphead is a great addition to the platform. I really like that early Disney cartoon vibe it has, and seeing it on Switch means that Microsoft and Nintendo are really hitting it off. Never played Blaster Master, might try the first one if that gets a sale soon. I loved the ending of the Showcase, insane to see such a big franchise go to an indie. I really do hope this opens the floodgates. The game that intrigued me most was The Red Lantern. I got a bit of that Firewatch vibe, but also the danger/exploration of Subnautica. And I love an arctic setting.
  7. There is interest, but with indies I don't always have clear what I really want, or what's coming. Mostly I'm hoping for some nice surprises. Well, one wild guess for the hell of it: Subnautica coming to Switch?
  8. Lol, I didn't see this thread and was already wondering why nobody was talking about it over here:
  9. So Google Stadia is the name of the game and as @killthenetpredicted, it is a full streaming service. All the computing power is done in Google's datacenters on a custom AMD GPU with 10,7 teraflops and is then streamed to your Chrome device of choice. The promise now is 4K output on 60FPS, with support coming "later" for 8K and 120FPS. There will be heavy integration with Youtube. For example, seeing a trailer of a game on it ends with a play now button, which takes you in-game within 5 seconds. Further there will always be a 4K stream of your game available to broadcast or save on Youtube. You can use Google Assistant to help you on with a game, without the need to close it and open up Youtube for a tutorial. The only real hardware announcement (besides the computing unit in the server they use) is a new controller. It features a built-in microphone for Google Assistant, a button for instant streaming. It connects through wifi, so it is not connected with your device but with your gaming session. This makes seemless transition from one device to another possible without the need to reconnect the controller. Google is teaming up with developers (Assasin's Creed Odyssey, DOOM Eternal and the creators of Rime are involved). Dev kits have been send out to hundreds of developers. The platform supports Unreal Engine and Unity. Google will also develop first party titles through their new studio Stadia Games and Entertainment. They will support cross-play and cross-progression if a developer wants it. The service will launch "2019", and the game line-up plus pricing will be announced on a later date. Perhaps E3?
  10. Three Konami 50th Anniversary collections have been announced. One containing Arcade titles, one for Contra and one for Castlevania. 8 games per collection, price is $19,99. http://n-europe.com/news/konami-collections-are-coming-to-switch-2
  11. When were you in Japan @bob? I've been reading that in preparation of the 2020 Olympics serious work is being put in the availability of English in the city. But like you said Tokyo is already quite far with English, and the Olympics are mostly there. I expect to have more problems with the language barrier in the smaller cities to the South. Regarding food: Are menus and food labels usually in English too? I've got an intolerance for (certain types of) fish. I know, good idea to go to the epicenter of sushi when not eating fish. But I want to avoid eating fish and I'm wondering if it's easy to do, or that for example the vegetarian options are easily recognisable.
  12. DuckTales Kirby's Adventure Mega Man 2 Metroid Probotector
  13. So apparently support for the Switch's joy-cons has been added to the source code of Google Chrome. This could either mean: - Chrome browser is coming to the Switch or, - Chrome on other platforms could receive joy-con support. Which is interesting as Google will probably launch a console of their own soon. Source:
  14. So, in two months me and my girlfriend will be travelling to the country that is on top of both of our wishlists: Japan! We'll be there for about 16 days, going from the South to the Middle of the country via Fukuoka, Hiroshima, Kyoto and Tokyo with some smaller stops in between. We have booked all the hotels and the train pass to get around, but now it's time to fill in those days. My girlfriend really enjoys the traditional side such as the temples, and we will be doing a tea ceremony. I on the other hand am mostly interested in the nerdy stuff: robots, games, tech and anime. As I won't be the first person here (and probably won't be the last!) to travel to the Land of the Rising Sun, and you guys over here share a lot of my interests, I was wondering who has some tips, must-sees or definitely-don'ts. Especially in the big cities, I would love to visit stuff like the Pokémon Center, that is the kind of things I'm looking for. But feel free to share any stories or whatever you want here, it definitely doesn't need to be relevant for my trip. I would love to hear your anecdotes as well!
  15. I think they could perfectly coexist, and even complement each other in a Pokémon (Let's) Go kind of way. It would be nice if your character could migrate between the village/city in AC Switch and the campsites of ACPC. Will Nintendo go this way? I doubt it. But it wouldn't hurt them to give some perks or incentives to players who have been pumping hours in the mobile version.
  16. ...And how he's decided to keep him upside down. This is going to be a thing, right?
  17. Google has a cardboard VR kit where you can shove your 800£ smartphone in. But I wonder if this will catch on. First of all you need some good game content as you can buy a £3 VR set for your phone. The games there are mostly tech demos though. So Ninty can make the difference with content. But I don't think it's going to be a comfortable experience. Resolution is really low, so expect dizzy kids all over the place. Plus Switch is quite heavy and without a headstrap means you have to hold it which can get quite heavy in the long run.
  18. Why is it again that they hate the system? With the 3DS they had quite a good relationship. But yeah you know, Switch is a hybrid system. So instead of having to buy the game twice for 2x£20 for both your home system and your mobile system, you only need to buy it once for £30 saving you £10! Isn't that nice of Capcom?
  19. I can fill in the part of South African for tonight. Got a night off from band practice so in!
  20. The thing that I noticed in the trailer were: - The shot where your protagonist walks into the stadium, he looks like he is wearing a sports outfit? Pokémon soccer? - When the logos are shown in the end you hear crowd cheering. So again it seems that a stadium setting is going to be a thing. Combined with the theme, I want Pokémon jousting matches. I wonder what they are going to do with the theme, Sword and Shield sound quite competitive, war-themed even. It wouldn't surprise me if competition is going to be a big thing. Maybe Sword and Shield are two factions, or teams, and we will see some Splatfest-like competitions going on, both offline and online. So choosing your version will have a bigger impact. Anyway, time will tell! Too early for me to decide on anything.
  21. Good connection? Yes! No interruption? No dammit! Will rewatch it soon though.
