Mario Kart 8 Deluxe League 2018 (Final results now in)

Some clips from last night: -
I'm pretty gutted they're shutting it down already, not that I still use Miitomo (haven't posted anything on it in ages actually) but I was hoping that its fantastic Mii customisation would become a permanent feature of Miis and My Nintendo going forward. There are so many clothing items available in Miitomo and I put together loads of different outfits for my Mii on there, I loved how those changes would then carry over to the My Nintendo website and Super Mario Run. I remember a few months back even spotting my Miitomo customised Mii on the Switch in the parental control section of the settings! Although it was only for a short while before changing back to the standard Mii outfit, they must have just been testing it. Anyway, will be a real shame if that stuff ends up dying along with Miitomo as they clearly put a lot of effort into it, and it would've been a great way to further customise avatars on Switch.

Where all the INs at?! Come on people! -
So are we still expecting a standard Nintendo Direct by the end of the month/February? I saw some speculation around the net suggesting that could be the case. Wish the last mini Direct would’ve revealed something about Animal Crossing. Playing Pocket Camp on a daily basis has got me seriously hyped for a Switch version! So yeah, really don’t want to have to wait until E3 for info on that game.
-
I hope the update for this is early February (the 1st would be good ) as it looks like a right laugh. Thinking this hide and seek mode could also help me find the last few purple coins I’m still missing in some of the worlds.

Yeah, this pay to play online malarkey is an unfortunate development in the console side of the industry, really didn’t expect Nintendo to follow suit, but I suppose it was inevitable. I didn’t renew my PS+ subscription this year, as the free games are mostly terrible these days, but now that it has expired It’s made certain games in my PS4 collection pretty much useless, stuff like Overwatch and Street Fighter V. Not to mention severely lowered my desire to get Monster Hunter World. Might try to bring my PC up to scratch and start buying any online focused 3rd party games on there instead.

Yep, there’s no other game like it. Not that I’m aware of at least. The way they effortlessly switch between comedy and drama in the Yakuza series is incredible. I’m looking forward to getting my hands on Yakuza 6 in March.

I’m gonna guess £250+ i.e. way too much. Still rocking a 32 gb card in my Switch and not had to delete anything yet. My library is all digital too, apart from Zelda. Will probably upgrade to a 256gb at some point this year.

Cardboard is actually surprisingly strong, especially if the object in question has been well designed: Knowing Nintendo’s attention to detail and quality control, I don’t think there will be much to worry about with LABO. The stuff shown in the trailer looks very solid indeed.

Love it. Reckon it's going to earn Nintendo some serious brownie points too, what with it being both environmentally friendly and educational. It's amazing how this really dips into their past as a toy manufacturer and brings back concepts from unreleased games as well, it's like the stuff they were making in the 60's and 70's. Genius.

Here's another classic for you to enjoy:
-
Yeah, that aspect of the game was great and ridiculously addictive, going to be a really good fit for the Switch. I've no plans to get the Switch version though, so our rivalry will have to wait until the next original DKC game comes out.

Amusing moment from the Splatfest: I love this game.
-
Team Action here, should be on at the start (3pm), as usual. Loving the new stage on this BTW, some nice little details in there and the layout is pretty cool too.
-
Shame there’s no Switch version though, I really struggle to go back to 3DS now.
-
Looking forward to this starting up again in a couple of weeks. Have a theme suggestion for you @Glen-i, how about merging 2 of the most entertaining N-E MK themes? Wario and Bob-omb only with "Smart" Steering? Would be truly spectacular I reckon.

Was reading through the thread for the Wii U version earlier. It's funny seeing the initial reaction to the game again, and reliving my obsession with Tingle being a playable character!
-
Forgot about Star Fox. That’s actually another game I’d consider buying a Switch port of, seeing as I never did get around to playing it on Wii U. So yeah, that brings the total number of rereleases I’d be interested in to 3.
-
I agree with @dazzybee that it’s currently not looking so great for the big Nintendo fans that supported Wii U. Really did hope there would be more in the way of brand new stuff hitting Switch soon. And while I picked up MK8DX and would almost certainly get a potential Smash 4 or Super Mario Maker port, there’s no other Wii U titles that I’d want to buy/play again on Switch. So yeah, with Kirby and the other stuff not really appealing to me, that basically means it’s just Mario Tennis on the horizon at the moment, and based on recent titles in the series that could unfortunately go tits up too. But like I said before, it’s great stuff for newcomers and I’m sure these Wii U rereleases will sell very well on Switch. Of course that also means less incentive for Nintendo to get original titles out there in a hurry, so I guess patience is in order once again.

Had a quick go on the demo, was curious to see how it would compare to the PS4 version. It seems pretty much identical to me (although it has been a while since I played it) apart from a lack of antialiasing, and it appears to run just as well. So yeah, looks like a great port. Just a shame the game has those issues I mentioned before, I could easily love this otherwise (and would’ve potentially double dipped on the Switch version) with just a few tweaks to the gameplay. Will probably keep the demo installed just to randomly build stuff, it’s more fun than the full game for me anyway.

This looks really nice, but no online play is a serious downer. Mind you, if the online from Kirby Battle Royale is anything to go by that might be for the best.
