Just started playing this, know pretty much nothing about it (never played the original) and I already appear to be fighting the final boss! Awesome.

It can definitely be hit-and-miss, sometimes they try a bit too hard to be funny and it doesn't really work, but as far as video game related TV shows go, overall I think it's pretty good. Dara O Briain is a great host who clearly knows quite a bit about (and actually enjoys) gaming which is also a plus point.

Anyone else watch this? Series 3 starts on Monday the 12th of February (at 10pm on Dave) but the first episode is already available to watch online. I checked it out yesterday and the introduction to the final game "Dara's Buttery Spuds" had me in stitches. The show isn't always that entertaining (it often depends on the contestants and also which games they play) but still worth checking out, especially for anyone that's been gaming since the 80's. There's a best of Series 1 & 2 special tomorrow at 8pm, so for those that have never seen the show before be sure to check that out.

This is exactly why I didn’t get Oxenfree and have no intention of getting Night in the Woods either (despite really liking the artstyle/vibe of that particular game) because there just doesn’t seem to be any compelling gameplay at all. I’ve nothing against these narrative heavy, choose your own adventure style games, but they’re simply not for me. I tried one of them again recently on PS+ and was so unbelievably bored by the experience that I was literally falling asleep! All you do is walk around and listen to conversations. At the point when gameplay becomes that trivial I might as well be reading a book or watching a film.

I've got a wicked moment to save once the video capture update hits, one of the best epic saves I've ever done which involved boosting back to goal from the other half of the pitch, handbrake turning into the goalmouth and deflecting a shot at the very last second! Other than that awesome save though, I actually seem to be getting worse at Rocket League. Although the game's performance online at times certainly isn't helping matters. There are times where my car will suddenly jolt to the side when I was blatantly travelling in a straight line, or even not moving at all! Has been happening much more often recently too, which is annoying. Hopefully the update fixes or at least reduces the frequency of that stuff. An option to select specific tracks on the playlist would be nice as well. Have currently got the music set to off as some of the cheese in there is unbearable! There are a few tracks I quite like (basically the ones without vocals) so would like to choose from just those to play on the menus.

Yeah, I remember being hugely overwhelmed by my first foray into the Monster Hunter franchise with MHTri on Wii, it's definitely not an easy series to get into, once you do though... well, it quickly becomes dangerously addictive! I started out with sword & shield (which is always the recommended option for newcomers) before moving on to long sword, lance and finally the hammer. Have stuck with hammer as my weapon of choice ever since (when playing as a cat isn't an option that is ) as I just love the feel of that weapon. And being able to K.O. monsters with a well timed bash on the head is ridiculously satisfying.

I still reckon we'll be getting a "DX" version of Smash Wii U+3DS on Switch, rather than a brand new title. I'd love to play Smash Run again though (especially on TV) as even with the larger 3DS XL screen it was tricky for me to keep track of everything going on in that mode, would also love it if they added online play to it. Hopefully they give the custom stage creator a substantial overhaul too, as it has always felt like a bit of an afterthought. With a few improvements to the editor and less memory restrictions it could be something very special indeed. If they could massively increase the options available for customising the look of stages that'd also be great. I had loads of fun creating and playing custom stages on the Wii U version.

ARMS Labs have manufactured the ultimate version of Hedlok. It will appear only in Party Crash. ARMS Labs have thought up some new Bonus Periods. Look out for them! If a featured fighter is losing by more than 1000 points in the current lobby, the bonus for using them will increase from 1.5x to 2x. Time for some comebacks! Added “Tournament Mode.” A mode made for tournaments with all ARMS unlocked. When in Tournament Mode you will be unable to play other modes such as Grand Prix or Ranked Match, and you won’t receive badges or in-game currency. Records will also not be recorded. You can switch between Normal Mode and Tournament Mode on the Top Menu by holding in the R Stick and pressing L and R. Fixed an issue where Dr. Coyle’s extra ARMS would not fire correctly. Fixed an issue where the Ramram would stop moving in mid-air. Fixed an issue in Skillshot, where the Tribolt would fail to return after punching.

Don't think I'm going to be able to resist buying this game for much longer. The hype is killing me! Even without being able to play online I know I'd still really enjoy it as I actually like the single player aspect of MH, and always found it super rewarding defeating the more difficult monsters without any assistance. Picked up NieR: Automata recently though, and still working my way through that, then got Shadow of the Colossus on the way, so will probably have to be towards the end of February. But then Yakuza 6 is out in March! Arrrrgh! Too much going on. BTW, Nice to see you posting here again, @Hero-of-Time and enjoying MHW of course.

I'm pretty gutted they're shutting it down already, not that I still use Miitomo (haven't posted anything on it in ages actually) but I was hoping that its fantastic Mii customisation would become a permanent feature of Miis and My Nintendo going forward. There are so many clothing items available in Miitomo and I put together loads of different outfits for my Mii on there, I loved how those changes would then carry over to the My Nintendo website and Super Mario Run. I remember a few months back even spotting my Miitomo customised Mii on the Switch in the parental control section of the settings! Although it was only for a short while before changing back to the standard Mii outfit, they must have just been testing it. Anyway, will be a real shame if that stuff ends up dying along with Miitomo as they clearly put a lot of effort into it, and it would've been a great way to further customise avatars on Switch.

Where all the INs at?! Come on people!

So are we still expecting a standard Nintendo Direct by the end of the month/February? I saw some speculation around the net suggesting that could be the case. Wish the last mini Direct would’ve revealed something about Animal Crossing. Playing Pocket Camp on a daily basis has got me seriously hyped for a Switch version! So yeah, really don’t want to have to wait until E3 for info on that game.

I hope the update for this is early February (the 1st would be good ) as it looks like a right laugh. Thinking this hide and seek mode could also help me find the last few purple coins I’m still missing in some of the worlds.

Yeah, this pay to play online malarkey is an unfortunate development in the console side of the industry, really didn’t expect Nintendo to follow suit, but I suppose it was inevitable. I didn’t renew my PS+ subscription this year, as the free games are mostly terrible these days, but now that it has expired It’s made certain games in my PS4 collection pretty much useless, stuff like Overwatch and Street Fighter V. Not to mention severely lowered my desire to get Monster Hunter World. Might try to bring my PC up to scratch and start buying any online focused 3rd party games on there instead.

Yep, there’s no other game like it. Not that I’m aware of at least. The way they effortlessly switch between comedy and drama in the Yakuza series is incredible. I’m looking forward to getting my hands on Yakuza 6 in March.

I’m gonna guess £250+ i.e. way too much. Still rocking a 32 gb card in my Switch and not had to delete anything yet. My library is all digital too, apart from Zelda. Will probably upgrade to a 256gb at some point this year.
