Yep, called it. Wow, that was predictable.

If you expect this game to hold your hand for every little thing then you picked the wrong game. It's supposed to be challenging, and unlike 90% of big games these days doesn't hold your hand. There's no dotted line leading you straight to your quest goal like in Witcher and the like. It's a simulator type experience, if you expected a simple, shallow arcadey style shooter or a NMS-like game then you might want to try getting your money back. It shouldn't take ten minutes to dock into a station, there's a steep learning curve but after a few days of getting better you fly in, dock. Easy. 500 credits is nothing, there are rules in place. If you don't want a fine, don't look to land in a docking space that isn't yours.

But... I like my Windows Phone... I like the idea of a separate sub chat for spectators. Given the choice, I'd much rather watch others play Splatoon than actually play it myself. And maybe laugh and point at any unfortunate happenings.

A few ways to improve it: Focus more on a hub for companion apps (having icons for each one would be a mess). Some cool features are getting overlooked. Add in a text-based messaging functionality to the app (and Switch). Add friends list - see who is online (in any game) and manage friends list (such as adding friends). Make it so it works in the background when the screen is off or when a different app is used. Mute on call (not disconnect) - it's cleaner and would cause fewer issues due to reconnecting. Add the eShop to the app, automatic download on Switch. Ability to alter profile and Switch settings and view things like what you have played and how long (I know it's an option in the Parental Control app, but no reason to not have it here). Ability to toggle availability and receiving notifications. The app has potential to be a great all-round companion app to the Switch.

Well, I took the liberty to broaden the topic of the discussion, but if that's not wanted, fine. Let me rephrase then: I think removing the voice chat and lobby functions from that app would make the app better. Rename it to Splatnet and advertise it as a Splatoon 2 companion app. If the two functions are to remain then add the eShop. Take notes from the PlayStation app. It's actually pretty good.

Yeah, because it's the best solution

Awww... I was all ready to post "In before someone says put it on the Switch itself" You're no fun... Right, keep in mind that I've not used it yet (Mixture of not caring about Splatoon 2 and having a Windows Phone). Apart from the obvious function to run in the background, I think it'd be pretty cool if you could see who on your Friends List was playing their Switch, and let you invite people to play whatever game you want to play with them.

Don't release it (yes, not the point of this thread, but I'll say it anyway). Make apps for games individually. Since Splatnet is apparently pretty cool, just make companions apps for games. Voice chat, lobbies, etc should be available on an OS level.

Part of the reason why the first season of this was soooo good was because of the interplay between the characters. I'm glad they've stuck with them! Apparently we're getting nine episodes, whereas the first season had eight! Three months to go.

I'm still at the point where 3D printers just blow my mind. Would love to learn more about them or find some application or usage for them in my life.

I really want a 3D printer. I'm pretty much set on getting one at the start of next year and just put some money away each month until then. I love all the stuff cosplay people do and while I dont actually cosplay myself, I'm starting a collection of prop/costume stuff that I'd like to be able to build my own stuff for. I'm pretty much set on the Creatily3D CR-10 3D printer at this point. Its a good size and apparently very good quality for the price.

It was free at the time, but now it's £3.19. Sorry for the confusion. It probably only takes about 30 minutes to play through as long as you don't get stuck at the bosses. Best to think of it as a nice little curiosity that accompanied Azure Striker Gunvolt at the time. Sort of what the 8-bit Mighty Final Fight is to the 16-bit Final Fight.

Followed up my electric works installing a Nest thermostat from Prime Day went much smoother except for the gash I put in my thumb with a pocket knife while stripping flex... I spent most of yesterday tidying my house and I'll probably spend most of today on it too. Took 2 whole bin bags of stuff to charity! Gradually killing the hoarder within.

So, that Pokemon GO Fest going on right now... Yeeeeahhhh... Omnishambles doesn't even begin to describe it. I was all ready to come here to point and laugh from my high Keldeo, but after seeing some of the despicable behaviour there (Throwing bottles at people because you can't get a Lugia on your Pokemon spin-off game is just sad), I just feel sorry for the poor staff having to supervise there. The only compromise is that at least I can say I'm not in the same group as those losers.

The wording was failing me, as I alluded to, but yes essentially lane filtering. I know its legal and I know it can be done perfectly safely. I guess just from my perspective I am the most vulnerable road user and motorbikes can get the quickest from A to B, which means there is a better chance they can seemingly come out of nowhere rather suddenly. I have lived outside of London far longer than I've lived inside and I do leave the city quite often so I'm not sure what that is all about...I have also never used Deliveroo (and I see more of them on bikes than motorbikes) and I've not eaten sushi in a long time if we're going to discuss assumptions. I wasn't trying to offend anyone that does ride them, just explaining why I dislike them as a vehicle. And yes, I've not ridden them much (I have been a passenger on them) and I wasn't trying to say there's no merit to them, especially for individuals because clearly people enjoy them, they just make me very uneasy. As do large crowds and heights and various other things that make me anxious. I don't think vehicular air pollution is irrelevant just because other things cause more, but that's really a different issue. I don't hate bikers though and my opinions (and rankings) of vehicles was based on my own preferences. I dislike cars, but obviously I use them from time-to-time and I know for certain people and/or locations they are necessary. I was just trying to converse and I can see how it came across as wanting to crap all over motorbikes but I was very much just trying to join in an open conversation in the same kind of way I would in real life if others around me were discussing motorbikes.

That poster looks like a group of comic con attendees. I honestly thought it was a spoof at first.

I finished a playthrough of Super Metroid last weekend, only got 88% completion rate and just a little over 5 hours play time. You must have to know the game like the back of your hand to finish under 3 hours. I then immediately started up Dragon Quest I since I wanted to play through another short game (and XI is out Friday) and finished that up this afternoon.

I can't speak for those two apps, but Fire Emblem Heroes (a game that sees frequent updates and support) has improved its own battery drain ever since launch. I don't know if it's the same developers behind the other apps, though. And if the people behind this netspeak app are the same as behind Pokémon Go, that certainly doesn't bode well. If you're responding to someone in particular, respond to their arguments and counter-argue. Sneaking in an inflammatory remark is not clever, pleasant, thoughtful or needed, especially if you're not actually making any attempt to debunk the original argument. This thread is engaging in a substantial discussion, pointing out the multiple flaws in the app, the potential reasons behind them, whatever silver linings there might be, and how likely is it that it can be improved. Let's keep it that way instead of resorting to ad hominem, alright?

Christ I had forgotten how tricky online dating is. Good luck to you both! I know people go on about how its easier for women, but sometimes I think people need to remember "Stunningly attractive women" because fuck knows I never found it easy. Whoops, there goes my tiny rant. Anyway gushy stuff ahead, be warned singletons!

@Rummy It was exactly the same when the paid online service was announced. Everyone went crazy although it was blazingly obvious that the price would be sub £20. Likewise with this app, its a beta with a feedback section. I think you'd be nuts to assume it won't change not the other way round. The one thing I think won't change is that it will be purely for in game chat and not for general chat with anybody who is playing the switch but not the same game as you.
