dannbrownn Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 I love racing games and was really looking forward to Excite truck, so i was a bit dissapointed when it was announced that it wouldn't be a launch title. At the moment i will be getting the wii, a wiimote, nunchuck and retro controller, along with Zelda, Red Steel and Rayman (along with Wii Sports and Wii Play Obviously!). That should cost me £380 so i might get one of the racing games as well before christmas, i don't want to have to many games straight away though as it will mean i can't really get into one and play it properly. Anyway if all goes acording to plan at launch or at least this year as far as racing goes we should have the choice of: Need For Speed Carbon Cars GT Pro Series Monter Truck 4x4 Tony Hawks Downhill jam So then i was wondering which you like the look of? For me i am looking at Getting GT Pro series, even though it is just a wii update of the gamecube version it still looks the best at the minute, NFS is looking good but i honestly don't trust the quality of the series and at least with GT Pro people have already played it! Monster Trucks is also something that i would have been inerested but because i am getting excite truck i don't really want to buy it as it will just mean i have two similar games (even though excite truck is looking 100 times better!) Cars to me at least doesn't look very good and i don't want to encourage the Nintendo = children idea by getting people i know to play that game! Tony Hawks does look good and i like the look of the speed of it but there is just something that makes me uncomfortable about it!
Jasper Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 I think I'm mostly looking for full games. Not the Sauerkraut and sensemelia minigamefests. I personally think I'm looking forward to Excite Truck too (it looked like a fabulous game when Gamespot was playing it), but there's not much really of interest in the launch window - Super Mario Galaxy is not a problem at all, wich is great as aa game. But I'm not sure about the rest. God, if I finish Zelda I might go and buy Red Steel, but then it's over for a while. After Red Steel it's waiting for Mario and maybe Far Cry. God, if I look at it this way - there isn't much intersting to buy right now. i might throw in Rayman: Raving Rabbids, though minigamefests are not the thing for me... we'll see where the money leads me.
DCK Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 GT Pro and Monster Truck seem sucky, but the rest seems decent enough. I'll probably wait until Nintendo release any of the two Mario Karts or Stunt Race FX though.
Lance Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 Anyone played NFS: Carbon on any of the other consoles? Is it any good? Lance
Owen Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 Need For Speed Carbon is very good on the 360! If i didn't have the 360 version, Carbon for Wii would be my first choice. Tony Hawks isn't really a racer a such. GT Pro Series looks pretty good and 4x4 is just missing something (which is ashame) as it could have filled the gap for Excitetruck.
gmanprime Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 Im getting Excite truck for launch. When does it come out ver here in the UK.
AshMat Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 I'm getting Downhill jam for christmas. Ill be getting excite truck when that's released.
Platty Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 I might go for Need for Speed. I liked the others on the Gamecube so yeah i may pick this up.
flameboy Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 I did want NFS Carbon, but quite a few of my mates who have played it have said it is a step back from NFS Most Wanted, getting back towards NFS Underground which is abit annoying. I did want GT Pro but not sure if I want a rehash, and it doesn't look that great, I think Auto Modellista looks better. But having said that I may get it, for lack of options at launch. At the moment I'm definitly getting Zelda and Red Steel, then its a toss up between Monkey Ball, Madden and NFS Carbon at the moment.
Cube Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 I've never got a console without a racing game before (home and handheld). I'm going to try out Need For Speed.
Din Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 Never really been a massive racing game fan (apart from Mario Kart obviously!) but I want to play Excite Truck when it come out over here. Depending on what kind of reviews the other racing games get I might ask for one of them for christmas (Downhill Jam or something).
flameboy Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 I've never got a console without a racing game before (home and handheld). I'm going to try out Need For Speed. you know what I think I might actually be the same, now I come to think about it, even got that crap kart game at the GBA launch that had Goeman in it.
Nintendork Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 F-Zero, providing they don't support those shitty controls as Miyamoto suggested. Also I expect custom soundtrack support after the attrocious nature of the last one. Mario Kart, providing it's online and fun. Nothing else.
Kurtle Squad Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 Im getting Excite truck for launch. When does it come out ver here in the UK. Jan/Feb
Cube Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 you know what I think I might actually be the same, now I come to think about it, even got that crap kart game at the GBA launch that had Goeman in it. Konami Krazy Racers. I still have it from launch. Found it quite entertaining.
flameboy Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 Konami Krazy Racers. I still have it from launch. Found it quite entertaining. thats it, i did but it was way too easy.
nekunando Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 SNES- Super Soccer N64- FIFA 64 GC- ISS2 ..have always got a football game as my first game for a home console.. what am I supposed to do with Wii Followed each of these games up with Super Mario Kart, Mario Kart 64 and Burnout respectively.. but I don't really know what to do about racing games on the Wii at the moment.. I was expecting it to be Excite Truck but now there's been the delay.. Probably be going along with Zelda/ Red Steel/ VC Downloads (Golden Axe) at launch.. then I'll see what happens after that..
gaggle64 Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 Probably just Exitetruck, but I'll give Tony hawks a look see if it's any good.
21st century cowboy Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 WarioWare: Smooth Moves (Wii) - January 12th 2007 Excite Truck (Wii) - February 2007 http://www.ds-x2.com/index.php?id=5895 This is what DS-x2 says. Supposidly from a Nintendo press release. I'm not getting my Wii till after my exams so I'll be getting Excite Truck on day 1! I was thinking today I really hope EA bring Burnout to the Wii, it could be really special.

flameboy Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 Yeah am sure I remember seeing Feb for Excitetruck and Jan for Warioware

Out of the games you mention, don't go with the two ubisoft games, not only do they look bad they are apparently pretty basic on features and that sought of thing
flameboy Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 I'd also say steer clear of cars, looks naff.
