Charlie Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 The Pink Panther 7/10 Lots of schoolboy humour, some parts were actually quite funny but the actual plot was pretty boring. Worth a watch though.
dabookerman Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 The happiness of the Katakuris 9/10 Musical featuring:- dancing zombies volcanoes man flying though space sumo wrestler giving a girl hot dickings, then dying of heart attack and kills the girl in the process by suffocating her a japanese dude called richard claymation bird eating teddy bears
gaggle64 Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 The Pink Panther 7/10 Lots of schoolboy humour, some parts were actually quite funny but the actual plot was pretty boring. Worth a watch though. Was that the recent Steve Martin version, or the original Peter Sellers classic?
Dan_Dare Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 Saw Serenity on saturday...... I liked it when it was doin its thing well with the whole pirate pastiche thing and all that, really liked the look of it all too. problem was that...I dunno, maybe it's because i have no idea what FireFly was like, but the middle section really, really plummeted into self indulgence while Whendon brought out a bloated extras cast nobody in their right mind would give a shit about. still, I find his humour fairly amusing so it was nice to see a sci-fi flick that didn't take itself too seriously. oh yeah, it also needed more psychic teen ninja action. way more. overall, 6.5/10 because it made me angry for being shit sometimes.
Konfucius Posted March 11, 2006 Posted March 11, 2006 Stormriders Director's Cut (or whatever) I don't know how to describe it best but I'd say it's a bit like an Anime only with real actors. But it has the typical fighting style like DragonballZ, Naruto... with flying through the air and lights coming out of the hands, however, it has a very deep story and great characters. There are also a lot of different characters but they don't really confuse you. The pace of the movie is pretty slow and I was constantly waiting for fight scenes which were pretty disappointing due to bad computer effects. Still a nice movie because of the story but it clearly needed a bigger budget. 6.5/10
ViPeR Posted March 11, 2006 Posted March 11, 2006 Serenity I can see why this was given 'film of the year' by Jonathon Ross. I thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish. Surprisingly deep storyline, great humour and comical characters and great action sequences. Star wars/Matrix+Buffy = Serenity. The only thing I could quibble about is that some characters really could've been left out and had hardly any purpose or contribution to the film. Apart from that, bloody fantastic. 8/10
dabookerman Posted March 11, 2006 Posted March 11, 2006 House of flying daggers wierd ending nice pointy daggers 8/10
Katie Posted March 11, 2006 Author Posted March 11, 2006 The Incredibles Finally got around to watching this, it has a good story with quite a few funny moments. It's just a fun family film. I love that little kid on the tricycle.
Monopolyman Posted March 11, 2006 Posted March 11, 2006 Unbreakable. Enjoyable little film. Nice twist at the end aswell. 8/10
Noodleman Posted March 11, 2006 Posted March 11, 2006 Watched Walk The Line again the other day, absolutley fantastic and I reccomend everyone watches it. Brilliant performances by both Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon. 9/10
masaki86 Posted March 11, 2006 Posted March 11, 2006 The Hills Have Eyes Rating Fuckin A This film is the best horror movie I have seen in a long while. It bests The Devils Rejects as the best 2k+ horror film imho. Sticking extremely close to the original, the vast majority of the film is 100% faithful to the original, except there are quite a few new scenes, and everything is explained a lot more, so you know who the hell these guys are, and why they are doing what they do. The actors were extremely well chosen, especially the 'spaz' guys. The actor who played Pluto would never match up to Michael Berryman, who made the original so famous, but each give their own strong performances. Emilie De Ravin(sp...?) of Lost fame is especially nice to look at throughout, and her sometimes annoying performance is made more pleasing thanks to her sexiness. There are also some brilliant scenes of violence, with some excellent use of a pick axe. Go watch NOW!
Bogbas Posted March 11, 2006 Posted March 11, 2006 The hitchiker's guide to the galaxy I'll give it 8/10. It was funny. Not as funny as the book is though. I really should find the time to read the five book trilogy One night at the roxbury again 8/10. This was so stupid it was funny. did you grab my ass?
Bogbas Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 Brothers grimm 7/10 There wasn't anything completely wrong about this movie, it was good but not great. Had fun spotting all the references to the tales I read/was read to when I was a kid. Actually I still do occasionally read them. Too bad that the modern kids get the watered down versions of the stories. Going to see Prime or 9th Company tomorrow. Still trying to decide which one to see.
mike-zim Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 Serenity a solid 7/10. it had the potential to be 10/10 if they had made it 1 thing or another instead of trying to make it part comedy part thriller alot of sci-fi. 100% sci-fi would have made it 10/10 imo.
Dan_Dare Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 if serenity had tried to be some kind of po faced action flick it would have been turd. Whendons humour saved it from being rathr dull at times.
Bluejay Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 Seen a few films recently:- Serenity 7/10 enjoyable but disapointing for a film with such a fan following, tried to be too many things, too many plotlines and no real ending as such. Good action scenes though. Will watch again to see if I enjoy it more. Kung Fu Hustle 5/10 After good reviews and recommendations from friends I watched this expecting to be impressed, I wasn't. At best mildly amusing but most of it wasn't funny and downright cringe worthy.
Arragaun Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 Ratcatcher Because this was an art film, the story didn't really matter, but it was good anyway. 'Bout a Glaswegian kid living amongst rubbish during a 70s bin-men strike. Sounds pretty nasty but I thought it had some stark beauty about it. A lot of the shots were very reminiscent of stil photographs, and there's one where the boy is stood in a cornfield that I would happily give up all my other posters to put on my wall in huge print. Very nice. 8/10.
bob Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 I watched X-men 2 this afternoon because i was bored. It was good. I liked it a-lot.
bryanee Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 Batman Begins - 10/10 I love it more everytime I watch it. Best film of 2005 in my opinion. Excellent cast and excellent acting. Cant wait for the next installment.
Guest Stefkov Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 Howls Moving Castle: Awesome film 8.9567/10 (ok ill be reasonable = 9/10) i loved it all the way through, next time i watch ill have no disturbances even if its dinner!
Noodleman Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 Just watched Scarface, good performance by Al Pacino but overated by some. 6/10
Katie Posted March 16, 2006 Author Posted March 16, 2006 Around the World in 80 Days I wasn't sure about it at the beginning but it was a good watch. The appearances of Arnold Schwarzenegger & Owen Wilson were a nice touch.
MunKy Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 The Descent - 9/10 brilliant film, oozes atmosphere and has a few jumpy moments which made me laugh when half my family jumped out their skin.
The3rdChildren Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 The last film I watched was a misdownloaded gay porno I closed almost instantly. Since it all counts towards a movie I technically viewed I rate this travesty of video a lowly men/10.
dabookerman Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 misdownloaded gay porno I closed almost instantly. i dont believe you n_n serenity gets 8 mice out of 10
