Nami Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 I pretty much spot on agree. However, I'd score them as follows: TMNT 1 - 7/10 TMNT 2 - 5/10 TMNT 3 - 1/10 (it's that bad, as far as I'm concerned) I recently watched the 1st one again and it deserves more than a 7!-It's cheesy as ever and fun, I lov the message April gets from Shredder, I was gigglin away after that I've got the other two to watch actually when I get chance, not sure if I want to bother with the 3rd tho.
killthenet Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 I'm Not There Todd Hayne's film about the many lives of Bob Dylan. It's a really enjoyable film, if a little incoherent, and all the performances are fantastic. Charlotte Gainsbourg looks the best she has in years and we get to see David Cross as Alan Ginsburg, "That was Alan fucking Ginsburg!" 8/10

A 7 is a very good rating. But I can see you're another incoherent child from the IGN-era rating mentality.
welsh_gamer Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 Space Balls Quite entertaining, but I expected better. I can imagine enjoying it more on a second viewing. Love the John Hurt moment! Must check out Blazing Saddles soon. 5/10 World Trade Centre Felt more like a TV movie than a 'proper' film, and it was a shame that Nicholas Cage was in the dark for the majority of his scene's, but I did enjoy watching it. 5/10 Also rewatched Casino Royale and Million Dollar Baby, and both still get a 10/10.
Chris the great Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 A 7 is a very good rating. But I can see you're another incoherent child from the IGN-era rating mentality. i was reading games radar a coule of weeks ago, had some big hoohaa about 7 being the new average. was a little interesting but not very.
Dan_Dare Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 7 as average is bullshit. It drives me mental.
Mr_Odwin Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 A 7 is a very good rating. But I can see you're another incoherent child from the IGN-era rating mentality. Why can't you just be nice to people? *Is watching you*
Oxigen_Waste Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 7 as average is bullshit. It drives me mental. Average would be a 5. (TMNT2) Why can't you just be nice to people?*Is watching you* Sorry odders. It's stronger than me.
Chris the great Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 yeah, its annoying, but can you really blaim people? look in an aveage games mag, i'll use the example of n gamer. a game gets a litteral ton of crap said about it, how its a broken game, boring, not worth buying, then they slap on 55%, which would make it abouve average. growing up with this its going to affect how people think. its like words, so many people say "a couple" to mean a few its sort of accepted now. still bends my balls though.
Mr_Odwin Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 Average would be a 5. (TMNT2) The statistician in me wonders if you'd accept that a mark for a film is not a linear thing for some people. I guess what I'm saying is that for some people the distance between a 1 and a 2 is different to the distance between an 8 and a 9. I may not have explained that too well. :s
navarre Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 Batman:The Dark Knight 9/10 This does for DC what Spiderman 2 did for Marvel- promote a major franchise in both substance and style. TDK, however, wasn't made for the kiddies audience, and it really shows. From its dark humour to the insanely accurate portrayal of characters, this movie really is enough to leave you wanting more Batman, despite its long screening time. Heath Ledger is just as great as ever, and his character, the Joker, is so believable, that it leaves the films main protagonist (and therefore main character) to second fiddle. A flawless, unprecedented release, and the greatest superhero film of al time. And, believe me, I hate the Batman franchise.

EDIT: But yes, your point is valid and you explained it right, rest assured.

Chris the great Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 still wrong i know, hence i had an argument with a friend over decimated
jayseven Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 No Country For Old men. Clearly a good film. Only lo-lights; Tommy Lee Jones has clearly had several facelifts. I think it's vastly improved his acting, though! Also I'm one of those "hmm, didn't like the ending" people. I don't care if it rocks the 2nd/3rd time through, I can freely say I was peeved that it cut so quick. I'm also annoyed that the film basically says life's a hunt, so give up. But then the film also says "it ain't all waiting on you. That's vanity," and I'll happily accept that as an excuse for not seeing llewllyn Moss die, as well. Very interesting film. Reminded me of Raymond Carver's short stories. Another film that's telling me to go buy the damn book it's based on. Very stylish. Very gripping, and largely not confusing 'til the bit in the spoiler. It seems that maintaining a motif throughout an entire film is becoming frowned upon, these days. Needed more dogs.
Dan_Dare Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 Great film that. Must read the book some time soon.
chairdriver Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 Land Before Time II I used to love this as a child. The songs especially. 4/10
gaggle64 Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 The original is still a seminal piece of family cinema.
Dog-amoto Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 Hellboy Thought I'd best watch this so I can go see the sequel this weekend. Not bad, but I think that Batman Begins and The Dark Knight have ruined comic book films for me now (even Spiderman looks dated and silly now). The cringeworthy dialogue and ridiculous action sequences are all there, but Ron Perlman is great as Hellboy and saves this film somewhat. 6/10 Run Fatboy Run Watched this at the pictures and still enjoyed it second time round. Would probably have been better with a British director, as I wasn't keen on the sprint finish with a broken ankle done in slo-mo, but laugh a minute stuff all the same 7/10
chairdriver Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 I hate slow-motion. Most of the time if it was just done at normal speed the dramatic effect would actually be greater, and the sequence would look better. The Bodyguard is ruined because of the stupid slow motion jumping in front of a bullet at the end. And the fact it has a shit script.
EEVILMURRAY Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 Land Before Time II I used to love this as a child. The songs especially. 4/10 Yet you only gave it four!?
chairdriver Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 Yet you only gave it four!? 4 is a good mark for a mediorce, badly animated cartoon.
Zell Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 Wall-E What a pleasent surprise. Exceeded my expectations and then some. The film oozes charm, it's astounding how they've given two little robots such character. Great for the kids, yet deep and thought provoking for the older audience. How family films should be done. 8.5/10
jayseven Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 Hancock... Well I was mildly entertained... but really it's in the same league as Mrs. Doubtfire and Kindergarten Kid in teh sense of having too much of the utterly hollywoodised story revolving around The Big Star. Not a bad movie, not a great movie. in fact, not as good as the two previously mentioned films because I'd probably have to watch them each time they were rerun on TV. I think we all agree Hancock had some great ideas, but the scale was far too big for the 12a film the studio wanted to produce. Oh well! don't turn into a Nicolas Cage, mr Smith!
