If you don’t get the console, they will probably soon end up working with OG GameCube/Wii hardware when 8bitdo’s wireless GameCube Retro Receiver inevitably gets an update to support them. Actually… come to think of it… they should also work on Wii U and Switch 1 via the GCN Controller adapter too! Edited April 23 by Dcubed

If you do decide to get the console, and you'd like one in time for launch, in case you can't pre-order one anywhere, it's looking like I'll have a spare Switch 2... On 4/16/2025 at 5:11 AM, S.C.G said: Update - Argos took the money for my Switch 2 pre-order a few days ago. Also, it turns out that I should now have a 'spare' Switch 2 console, as I pre-ordered a second console, carry case and second physical copy of Mario Kart World when I got the chance to with My Nintendo Store, so if anyone who hasn't managed to secure a pre-order and would still like to get a Switch 2 close to launch day, let me know. If you can pay for the console a week or two before it releases, or whenever Nintendo plan to take the money for the console, let me know, send me a PM and if you want the carry case with screen protector, and/or Mario Kart World physical edition, also let me know. No worries either way, as if there are no takers, then I could just sell the Switch 2 in my shop either on or just after launch day... I'm sure it will sell, heck, if it's in short supply, I might even be able to get a good cash deal for it at CEX or something equally as daft, as I seem to remember something like that happening when the PS5 came out and was in short supply... but I'd rather offer it to someone here for what I'll be paying for it, plus probably postage cost of £25 to send it insured, Special Delivery... as I need to have it shipped here first, as I don't want to mess with any of the address details at this point. Plus I may even be able to add in some cool extra items, either some old game accessories, or some Pokémon toys or something, heck even Pokémon cards... basically whatever I stock at the shop, just let me know what you like, and I'll hook you up with some kind of bonus for hopefully agreeing to buy the Switch 2 from me. I'm glad to see that the pre-orders have opened up more generally for the GameCube controllers though. 1

I'll let you know but I'm currently leaning against simply because I barely have time to play anymore. 1
BowserBasher Posted April 23 Posted April 23 Am I one of the few who seems to be satisfied with just being the original GC controller with the adapter?

Dogs + Wires = A Bad Time. And while Wavebirds are a godsend, they do lack rumble, as well as a Home/Capture/C button; and they're not rechargable. Plus these work in handheld mode without any sort of 3rd party adapter needed too! Edited April 23 by Dcubed

Ashley Posted April 26 Author Posted April 26 If they're smart they'll release a spice orange one later on too because suckers would totally buy that. It's me, I am suckers. 1 2
Will Posted April 26 Posted April 26 I already have a few spice cube controllers and yet I’d definitely pay a premium to get a new one.
killthenet Posted April 26 Posted April 26 If they released an NSO compatible GC ASCII Keyboard Controller I would jump on it immediately 1

Julius Posted May 7 Posted May 7 Switch 2 console pre-orders have opened up to those without invites on the My Nintendo Store. Do I stick, or do I twist... 1

I was getting the same message before but just tried again and it went through, same thing happened with the GCN NSO controller when they opened up free of invites: appears to be available, "maximum capacity reached" error message, went up a bit later. Going to cancel my Smyth's pre-order shortly with this saying it'll come release day (EDIT: done). Even this late on I trust Nintendo to get it to me with no issues. Edited May 7 by Julius 2 1

BowserBasher Posted yesterday at 06:15 PM Posted yesterday at 06:15 PM I hope this is just a very early email from Nintendo but I just got one saying they will take payment soon for Switch 2 preorder. They don’t usually take payment till about a week before release date. So this seems very early. 2

I've seen some others online say that they received similar emails about payments starting to be processed too. I just stuck my console pre-order on a credit card, with the funds stowed away elsewhere ready to be paid to the credit card as soon as I can see that the payment has been taken. Removes the risk of insufficient funds being in the account when you aren't sure when exactly the payment will be taken. I think I ran into that issue with Final Fantasy VII Remake getting shipped for early release over here due to COVID, I wasn't expecting payment to be taken for another week and so had put the funds to the side for it elsewhere Anyways, I agree, this seems super early to start taking payments, so thanks for mentioning it, as I imagine no-one expected payments to start processing this far out. There's already only 3½ weeks to go somehow, feels like it has really crept up on us – and I'm sure that time will be a blur!

So hopefully it'll be the same with this. 1

Guessing it's because they have a crazy amount of orders to process, so they're just starting earlier than usual. It'll probably only be those that were invited to pre-order getting this email at the moment. 1 1
S.C.G Posted yesterday at 07:49 PM Posted yesterday at 07:49 PM I got the multiple e-mails from Nintendo as well... erm, I wasn't quite expecting them to take the payment this early. Last call if anyone wants a Switch 2, but couldn't get one for whatever reason, or can't quite afford one, but can pay at least a third of the cost maybe today up-front? @Dcubed @Glen-i what do you reckon? Just putting this out there in case, otherwise I might just cancel my Switch 2 with Nintendo, and chance that the Argos one will be fine, especially as they took payment even earlier via PayPal weeks ago. Send me a PM if interested, and we'll work something out... heck it worked when the original Switch was released, so maybe this might be an option again? Up to you, but the offer is still there, for now. (or for as long as I can keep the pre-order)
