Didn't realise they restricted the international version console to be exclusive to the My Nintendo Store.

The Japanese site also lists the exact requirements for being selected for an invite. May not apply to other regions though.

Missus has made a preorder with John Lewis, and also gone for the piranha plant camera. Even if we don't use it.

Hoping for an early link to get the GameCube controller. From the look of the specs, there isn't a standard USB port, which we have for a wired Jigglypuff GameCube controller

They definitely mentioned on Treehouse that the NSO GameCube controller can be used wired.

Huh, just had an email from ShopTo to say that they've reduced my Switch 2 + Mario Kart World bundle to £421.25. Neat. 

Doesn't really impact me as I'll be cancelling it in an attempt to get it Day 1, and it takes some nerve to suggest I'd want a digital code and change my backorder to that by default with how many physical copies I buy from them, but whatever :p

I take it that this is a modded GCN controller then?

If it's a Wired USB mod, I believe that they only work on PC; as a Direct Input controller.  In which case, no it won't work on Switch 1 or 2.

As an aside, the dock includes 2x USB A 2.0 ports on the side, which makes it the same as a Switch 1 OLED dock in that regard...

... that actually might be an issue for me, since there's no USB port on the back side this time around; meaning that I can't neatly hide the GCN controller adapter wires away using the same trick as last time...

Honestly? That's much better than I expected! The equivilent of €389.12 and €63.46/€57.90 is very reasonable! In fact, it's amongst the cheapest prices for Switch 2 and its games worldwide!

A welcome relief, considering that our Aussie friends typically get reamed on pricing! :)

Ohh... it's a 3rd party controller?

Yeah, that'll work just fine when plugged into the dock.  It'll just be recognised as a Switch 1 Pro Controller.

If you really want to use it in handheld/tabletop mode, it would work if you got a USB A to USB C adapter (Have used one before on Switch 1 and can confirm that it works).

I got pretty fortunate with that. I was at the park with my kids on Wednesday night and I just happened to take a look at my phone about 19:20.

There had been an email from Smyth's 4 minutes previously and I immediately clicked through and had my order for the Mario Kart bundle placed at my closest store by 19:24.

I'm praying this will be enough for me as I haven't been looking elsewhere for a back-up option and I wasn't lucky enough to get an invitation from Nintendo 🥲

Well this is a nice surprise.

I paid in full for my back order and a few days later I get an email from ShopTo saying i'm in the first batch.

Looks like i'm getting it on launch after all.

Nice, they must have had several cancellations.

Been tempted to pay for mine and wait and see what happens (aka, cancel the Amazon one i have and pay for this).  Amazon are still saying it'll be delivered on the 7th or later.

Got an email earlier this evening saying I didn't get an invite from Amazon for the Switch 2 pre-orders – but seems it is now getting ready to be made available for purchase without an invite Soon™.

It could just as easily be around 2pm in the afternoon... as I believe that has happened with amiibo figures etc.

But best to be ready as early as possible I'd have thought.

I'm taking the day off tomorrow, just to have a chance at pre-ordering the console.

Plus I've got a lot of games to sell, to go towards hopefully paying for the console in just under two months time, so I'd best get listing, otherwise I'll be taking a load of games down to CEX... if it gets closer to the release date, if I don't have quite enough to cover it.

Still no word on if/when these pre-orders will open up to those who didn't get an invite – I imagine it'll be the case that it opens up after they've given sufficient time for those with invites to get their pre-orders in, but no update yet. It sounds like more people will get invites as time goes on and criteria will become increasingly lax.

With the GameCube NSO games being a part of my launch plans, I'm just hoping there'll be enough stock of the GCN NSO controllers! 

Made the mistake of stumbling onto the NSO page on my Switch last night and seeing that I've been an NSO member for 5+ years (which I didn't realise before, apparently ~87% of the time I've had a Switch I've had an NSO subscription!) outside of a short break towards the end of last year before picking up the Expansion Pack, but alas, it is what it is ::shrug:

Hmm, maybe need to wait for that follow-up email they mentioned? Strange. 

I wasn't expecting all these other accessories to drop on the Nintendo Store today and be available to those without an invite (barring the GameCube NSO controller and the microSD Express), but have already put my pre-orders in and paid for those elsewhere, so ::shrug:

Yeah the only thing I really want is the GameCube controller. Still not sure when/if I'm getting the console but I know the controller will be a pain to get.

Hmm OK, I thought thge pre-orders were just going to go up generally for the console today, as I assumed that everyone who got an e-mail invite had already ordered their console.

Well, I ordered Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Bananza, and a Switch 2 Pro Controller...

I would have ordered a memory card but those are reserved for anyone who had an e-mail invite?

Strange... there's also two listings for the SD card, both of which do the same thing.

I can understand the GC Controller being limited, but the SD cards?

Ah well, let's see what happens.

Also, I just ordered the case/screen protector, and the charging grip... just the console and SD card to go now.
