Plus it probably doesn’t hurt Nintendo to advertise this and mop up any last purchases of the game! 🥸
V. Amoleo Posted July 20, 2022 Posted July 20, 2022 (edited) It's worth remembering that if you link Nintendo Network ID to your Nintendo Account, you should still be able to add funds until 27th March. This is the only way you've been able to use a credit card for a while in the UK/EU but it should work for gift cards too. Still think it's crazy they're just happy to shut the store, I'd rather it lived in the zombie state of not being able to add funds directly like it will be after August. What are people's final buy lists looking like now? I was hoping we'd have GB/GBA announced for Switch Online by now so I could strike some of those VC games off my list. Edited July 20, 2022 by V. Might be worth factoring in that at least if you get them on 3DS it's different to just having access to them via the NSO sub and its whims. I'm still keeping an eye on the sale section. Full game-wise, I'm considering Luigi's Mansion 2 as by the time I was getting around to wanting it, I only ever saw the player's choice box. Previously, you shared a link to a list of games with DLC. Do you know if there's there an easy way to review what the DLC is? I've checked a few by inserting carts and going to DLC via the in-game menus but something more straightforward would be handy. Like, I'm wondering if I should nab the Fantasy Life DLC just in case I ever fancy going back to it, and I'd like to know if there's anything similar to that for my other games. I'm not wanting to buy potion packs if you catch my drift.
Jonnas Posted July 22, 2022 Posted July 22, 2022 (edited) Right now I still need to purchase the remaining Fates games/DLC, a handful of SMT games, and a handful of others (like what seems to be the best version of Shovel Knight). Also occasionally debating myself on whether I should buy the Spirit of Justice DLC (the one with Larry Butz). I'm really just biding my time around potential sales, because I still think they'll happen. By the time the last week arrives, I'll purchase what remains of my wishlist. martinist Posted July 24, 2022 Posted July 24, 2022 Think I might take a quick look through thr 3DS shop before they stop me from adding funds next month. There's still alot of good stuff on there.

Where it's not part of the eShop? I vaguely remember buying the Spirit of Justice DLC from inside the game. That extra case is great if you like Ace Attorney, BTW. Totally worth it. And coming from someone who loves Pokémon Mystery Dungeon, don't bother with the Gates to Infinity DLC. It adds nothing of real value. I'm glad the two PMD games that have since been released ditched DLC. And definitely don't bother with the first Final Fantasy: Theatrhythm. The sequel, Curtain Call, makes the first game totally redundant. Edited July 25, 2022 by Glen-i 1
darksnowman Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 In the coming days--the 4th of August in particular--some games will no longer be on sale. This includes: SteamWorld Dig -- £1.39 SteamWorld Heist -- £2.19 SteamWorld Dig 2 -- £2.99 Virtue's Last Reward -- £3.99 (Demo available) And some Harvest Moons though I'm unsure if those are the good ones or not, so you'd be better doing your own research first. 1

Nice work BTW, worth keeping in mind that you can also download game updates/patches for any game on 3DS, even if you don’t actually own the game itself! If you have the SD Card space to spare, you can grab them by typing in “update” into the search bar on the eShop. 2 2

V. Amoleo Posted August 16, 2022 Posted August 16, 2022 (edited) This is fairly off topic but it came to my head while I was creating the lists. After looking at all the Wii U and 3DS stuff the past couple of weeks, it's really made me sad how little love the Wii U got. From DLC just stopping half way through or barebone ports. I think the worst thing I saw was the massive changes that Breath of the Wild underwent to fit the Switch. I mean this is loads better than the black screen it ended up getting. The weird thing is though. There are some Wii U exclusive games you should pick up before they're gone forever. Nintendo Land is great and I don't think we'll ever see anything like it again. Game & Wario, which isn't great but does use the Wii U's features really well. It also seems to have gotten to stupid prices physically. Xenoblade Chronicles X, The Legend of Zelda The Wind Waker and The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess are the three still exclusive games that I'm shocked haven't been ported. They use the touchscreen mainly for inventory management, which I really wish Switch games would do. I would even say that ZombiU is the definitive way to play Zombi because of the asynchronous local multiplayer, the awesome use of the GamePad and the Wiimote support (multiplayer only). The Call of Duty games on Wii U support Wiimotes too and that is a great way to play those games. Controversially, I still believe Pikmin 3 is best on the Wii U while using Wiimotes. The 3DS got a lot of love though. There are some real gems on there and I'd argue even the games that got ports are worth picking up on 3DS because of the dual screen nature (and the 3D!). I'd really be interested on people's less-known recommendations. Edited August 16, 2022 by V. Amoleo 2
Dcubed Posted August 16, 2022 Posted August 16, 2022 (edited) Very much agreed. We really lost something special when Switch replaced the Wii U. You can even see it in the games that were moved from Wii U to Switch, like Luigi's Mansion 3... What would've been an incredibly obvious Gamepad stand-in if I ever saw one I miss all the cool second screen/touch screen features we used to have. Switch has had one of the most conservative first party game lineups in all of Nintendo's history (barring a few major exceptions like Ring Fit Adventure, ARMS and Nintendo Labo) and the gaming landscape is all the sadder for it. I really hope that Switch 2 brings back some of these "crazy" features. Even if they're only optional. Edited August 16, 2022 by Dcubed 2 1
Dufniall Posted September 6, 2022 Posted September 6, 2022 For those looking to stockpile Atlus games, a bunch of them are on sale now on the 3DS eShop, including 2 Shin Megami Tensei games and a number of the Etrian Odyssey games. 2
Josh64 Posted September 6, 2022 Posted September 6, 2022 (edited) My WiiU has been in storage for a while with the intention of getting it out when I've moved but given the current climate and a few setbacks I dont think I'll be moving any time soon - At least not in time for judgement day. With that in mind I'll be setting it up in the next week or so, I'm not sure exactly what I have in mind yet but I wan't to find as many exclusives as I can. Off the top of my head I can remember two pretty unknown exclusive indie games that I picked up just from eShop browsing back in the day, and I want to make sure I didn't miss more like them. One I had was a neat app with some drawing applications, a few built in games and a little story in the form of emails, housed in a 90's style computer OS which is controlled using the gamepad (when it's all set up again I'll return with the name of said title!) Another is still one of the most wild and fun party games I have played, Bumpies Party, which made great use of the Gamepad and Wii Motion Plus controllers. Losing first party stuff is bad enough, and as Sakurai said, given the unique touch screen it will be hard to see them return, but lesser known indies will more than likely be lost to time forever. I also remember some of the really ridiculous Wii Party U games which used both Wii Motion Plus and the GamePad. One I have good memories of is somewhere in your physical room is a bucket, you have to go up to it and scoop the water with your wii remote, take it over to the gamepad on the floor and poor the water in. Those kinda games that expand beyond the TV are so fascinating to me, like an expanded version of that really interesting Wii Play Motion ghost title where you had to move the Wii Remote around the room until the beeping went crazy (like finding a boo in luigis mansion) and physically drag it back into the tv.
