Glen-i Posted June 10, 2019 Posted June 10, 2019 In other news, the soundtrack for the Devolver Digital Cinematic Universe: Phase 1 is now available on bandcamp. Yes, really. 1
S.C.G Posted June 10, 2019 Posted June 10, 2019 Well... that happened! And it's now nearly half-three so, night all. Totally worth staying up for up to this point but whatever this... aftershow is... I'm out at this point. Got to draw the line somewhere and prioritise a bit of sleep, I'm just glad that there aren't any conferences on too late tomorrow night. Apart from Square Enix at 2am but... I can't see that being worth staying up for.

I think this might be a Twitch thing? That guy wearing a Devolver shirt is totally throwing me off though. Oh wait, now they're actually playing a Devolver game? I'm so confused!

Hero-of-Time Posted June 10, 2019 Posted June 10, 2019 Thinking about what was shown at Microsoft's conference, i'm not surprised that Sony bailed out this year. There just doesn't seem to be that many new 3rd party games that can help make a decent conference. EA, Ubisoft, S-E and Bethesda all have their own events to announce things at E3 and Capcom clearly aren't ready to show anything new yet. That means you are left with your first party studios having to carry things, with a few indie titles thrown in between. Sony have already shown their hand and from the looks of it Microsoft weren't in any better position either, with a lot of their games being 2020 and with only Gears 5 being the notable release from them this year.

drahkon Posted June 10, 2019 Posted June 10, 2019 So...anything big happened at E3 so far aside from Keanu Reeves showing up on stage?

Sony don't have anything to show, and Microsoft had lots to show... but nothing particularly great? Definitely in that lull before a new gen. Felt like they were killing time before next year's show.

Although, Ubisoft always put on a good show and I'm tempted to get up at 2am to see what S-E have to offer.

They usually put on a great show with tons of diverse genres on dispaly. Bethesda games just aren't for me, and after sitting through them and MS I'm getting a little bored of the whole "murder simulator set in a dystopian wasteland" thing that seems to account for a third of the games shown so far. Also bored of CG trailers. It's getting ridiculous now. Edited June 10, 2019 by Ronnie 1

Yeah. Microsoft are basically taking the year off. There's Gears 5 and sod all else until next year. Their 2020 lineup does look pretty solid though. 1
Ganepark32 Posted June 10, 2019 Posted June 10, 2019 (edited) Ended up tuning in to the Upload VR E3 Showcase and while there wasn't really anything that stood out to me, it's nice to see another small outlet giving space to developers to talk about their games, especially at E3. When some of the games are small passion project as those shown, it's awesome to see them given a bit of the spotlight, even if only for a couple of minutes through these smaller showcases. I had only heard about it because the person running it was on Kinda Funnt Games Daily and then saw it pop up on Twitter but kudos to them for taking it upon themselves to reach out and bring these smaller projects to people. I've got the PC Gaming conference on in the background but I'm not really expecting much as it's never really brought much to the table in years past. Looking forward to Ubisoft's conference as it's always a good show with plenty of content and it's always good to see Yves and the teams out on stage talking passionately about their work. Even if most of their stuff has leaked, it's still going to be a good watch I feel. I'll have to catch up on both the Kinda Funny Games Showcase and Square Enix's conference in the morning but in especially looking forward to seeing the indie games in the former and seeing if we'll see anything Deus Ex related (I doubt it and it would be stupid go bring anything out against Cyberpunk 2077 but Mankind Divided ended so abruptly that it was clearly the middle point in a trilogy). Ronnie Posted June 10, 2019 Posted June 10, 2019 (edited) I love the Kinda Funny guys but I was a little disappointed in their first Showcase. Now of course, what they managed was amazing and well done them, but content wise I didn't think the vast majority of games were up to much. Hoping for a bit better this time. Again though, a big achievement for them, regardless. Also, Greg did a great job hosting EA Play, and Tim's insight into the industry has doubled in recent years. He used to just be the host when Colin was around but now is very interesting to listen to. Edited June 10, 2019 by Ronnie
Glen-i Posted June 10, 2019 Posted June 10, 2019 About to tune into Ubisoft's conference in the hope that they pull a Child of Light and have something that interests me. This orchestra makes a change from the usual dance parties.

We can't have the Wii going a whole year without getting a new game. This orchestra is funny timing considering the Final Fantasy Concert shambles that happened recently. Ganepark32 Posted June 10, 2019 Posted June 10, 2019 Yeah, a nice change of pace to the opening of Ubisoft's conference. Loving the symphony and arrangement of music from the Assassin's Creed games, nice way to represent the franchise with it taking the year out.
Happenstance Posted June 10, 2019 Posted June 10, 2019 AC is a series to me that the music has never been memorable and that orchestra did nothing for me. I expect you all to join me in boycotting that tour. .....fuck Yu Suzuki 1
Glen-i Posted June 10, 2019 Posted June 10, 2019 I like their futuristic double decker designs. Everyone jump on the "Set your game in the UK" bandwagon. Pokémon brought cupcakes!
Ganepark32 Posted June 10, 2019 Posted June 10, 2019 (edited) I'm liking what I'm seeing of Watch Dogs Legion so far. It seems to have gone for a mix of the tone from the original and some of the humour from the sequel (at least with the oap recruit). Game looks good as well. Love the futuristic vibe they've gone for for London. Probably their way to distance it from Brexit because the game isn't trying to make a statement Also liking the perma-death idea. Means that you'll have to recruit and use characters for the correct jobs or risk losing specialists and the like. Edited June 10, 2019 by Ganepark32
