I was just making the comparison because, at this time of year, first party releases aren't common on any platform.

At no time of the year are first party releases common on the Wii U.

Also you seem to be forgetting that the Wii U is in serious trouble and needs games. It cant afford to suffer these droughts time and again.

I do wonder if Nintendo will release DLC tracks for this, to keep support going beyond May.

And split the community? Nah.

They don't do DLC that adds into the main game. Whenever they do DLC, it's always for a mode that is seperate from the main game (Coin Rush, Outrealm Gate, Mission Mode etc).

But I've already said this thousands of times, so I'll end it here...

Well, NINTENDO added a lot of challenges to Mario Kart Wii, so maybe we'll see something along those lines.

May sure seems a long way away, @RedShell how is the new league logo coming along? Might as well start preparing the league table & GP theme templates.

It's pretty much done, will PM you later on. :)

IT'S HAPPENING!

Valid point.

I have an amazing idea for Mario Kart DLC so that isn't a problem. Slightly different to how DLC is done traditionally, but i think it'll work. Because DLC HAS TO FUCKING COME!!!!!!! I want new tracks... I want every single track ever released.... I'd buy them all. ALL!!!!!!

Off topic?!?!?!

No. She asked about Mario Kart 8 and how she thinks it'll help pull Nintendo out of its woes (she saw the Nintendo news on MSN and started worrying about my site).

We've always been a Mario Kart family :)

Conversely, I met someone last week who didn't even know what a Wii U was; and from what I could tell she was actually somewhat more of a gamer than your average person. So...yeah.

As far as MK goes; I'm still fairly unfazed by a game that I've played many times before in many different iterations that I would usually have bought in order to play in the company of friends - with the latter now harder and harder to achieve, and many other things backlogged up with it(tabletop's really taken off for us) - I can't see this being a major purchase for me unless it's got absolutely banging online or a suitably cheap price tag.

I'll get it but won't be taking part in the league unless Nintendo get with the rest of the industry and allow me to talk to people who I'm playing, meaning you guys.

We all know that aint going to happen, so yeah... look what you've done.

I only went online with Most Wanted a couple of times, but that felt brilliant for online comms. Gamepad chat off the bat for a bit of banter, nothing extra required. Sometimes a bit of lag(small pockets of echo) but I imagine that's infrastructure or connection; felt real nice just jamming with N-E folks so easy online though. If MK8 can do that, and do it well, I'll be all for it. They should have done it for the 3DS and MK7, but they didn't. I need and want that for more than just friend matches, too. Imposed censorship in online is an outdated practise imo. Needs a robust online system too, to deal with pingouts etc - I tried some online with MK7 but frankly it was absolutely pisspoor; falling out of a GP in first or second race with no recompense or way to rejoin!? It destroyed it.

One thing to extend on from my last post - the idea of social gaming(online and local) isn't just about gaming, I think a bigger than realised part of it is socialising too which gets missed by some, Nintendo in particular somewhat. This gets off topic from MK, but with more and more evolution of the online world and social media, people get their social 'fix' from more and more things more easily, and have less need for immediately(ie local) social games. When I was a teen Double Dash was great to have not just for the gaming/experience, but that draw to the social contact - I wonder if I was the same teen in the current age of facebook, youtube, mobiles etc whether I would need/get as much out of it?
