It also looked suspiciously like one would use the PSP with remote play games. Obviously, they improved the streaming and opened it to more games because of the Wii U. Mostly a negative or lukewarm response to the social features; no one is talking about this Kinect device; and most surprising I see barely anyone talking about game streaming. Most of the focus has been reduced down to talking about 8Gigs of RAM! I find that pretty sad. It was on late, and it is early morning though. It also looked suspiciously like one would use the PSP with remote play games. Obviously, they improved the streaming and opened it to more games because of the Wii U. Still the most pointless feature ever. People need to remember that the Wii U will always do this right out of the box, and developers can design games with this feature integral - though it will have to bare better use than it has already for that value to stand out as apparent and worthwhile. Yes, PCs can do more, yes the WiiU has a controller that provides streaming from the console without a 200€ device and yes porn should've been a major aspect in the press conference. Nobody cares. Graphics are incredible for a console. And if the PS3 is anything to go by, its successor will have an amazing game catalogue to offer one or two years after its launch. I'm pretty Sure Sony and third parties will be able to show a lot at E3. And I cannot understand how people aren't blown away by this, because if this is an indication of the next console generation then I'll be happy to see what Microsoft has to offer, seeing as the rumored specs for Sony's and their console are quite simmilar. Of course they do with the overhead of the OS and the fact they're multi-tasking devices. But with the switch to the x86 architecture they're more comparable now than they ever have been. While I may have a preference to Nintendo, I get all the consoles and enjoy them. Last gen I played my 360 far more than my Wii. I'm really excited about the capabilities of the console, Overall view about the event today: Console has a lot of potential. There is a serious possibility of Sony getting back into the swing of things with this thing. The openness of it, the community aspects, the actually decent hardware specification by console standards for their price range.. Looking forward to hearing more. The Wii U is going to have a hard time justifying itself and I can't wait to see Microsoft respond. But, a lot of it left me very confused. Why are we dealing with the tech demo shenanigans again? They very rarely are faithful to the final product, no matter who is showing it for what platform. Show us some gameplay, sheesh. The biggest offender of this complaint is the fucking dumbasses who thought it would be good to demonstrate the power of the console with a fucking face. Sure, it's impressive, but in what situation would allow just one fucking face on the screen in a video game to drain all of the consoles power? What about other characters? What about other faces? What about the scenery? Classic bullshit. Another thing that strikes me as odd is there apparent low standards for third parties stepping up to the mic. I'd laugh Square Enix out the fucking building if they came up to me and said that's what they were intending to show case. Destiny is a big deal considering the hype, so I'll let that slide. But c'mon, allowing certain over devs to come up to the mic and announce ports? Especially Diablo 3, I was expecting something decent after the guy was bragging about how making console games was in the studios blood. This is stuff they should have saved for E3. The first part of it was spot on, going through the mission statement and how the machine works, whilst showing some content. Maybe they just had it go on for too long? I don't know. I agree with that, overall it was dull, mainly because off all the bullshit tech demo's and monologues by the bald society. it could have been an hour shorter and 100x more awesome if it was, the filler bogged it down I did get the feeling that nothing much we didn't already know was announced it was more just confirming the leaks.......not such a bad thing but those leaks stopped a lot of shock value for me but that DS4 was sexual I will undoubtedly get one, but not at launch and definitely not at the rumoured price. Now you say that like its a bad thing, the way i see it is that now the PS4 and WiiU are very similar in the feature they offer AND unique gaming IP's, where as Microsoft and Next box now don't have nearly as much going for them, they have very few IP's left, Charge for online and won't offer off screen play.......if they restrict used games then well they are dead. And exactly this is what the majority of gamers/gaming journalists/analists wanted. Fuck motion control, fuck revolutionizing ideas. Give us more power and more quality games. Sony (and Nintendo - in their own way) has given us this (the power, not the games...). Microsoft will give us the same (maybe with Kincet but whatever). The only thing that's missing is new IPs (maybe even older IPs like Crash Bandicoot, Banjo Kazooie, finally a fucking good HD Zelda or Mario, Metroid...). For consoles and for PC. It is superior to the 3DS in hardware and therefore doesn't limit game developers as much in the graphics department. It's kinda sad that the inferior unit gets more big hitter support. Capcom fancy a word regarding Resident Evil Revelations Seriously though surely it doesn't matter how powerful a console is anymore, more what they can do. I was much more interested in what the console could do (share, spectating etc) than how much grunt it has under the hood, considering judging by the admittedly early demos and gameplay, the leap isn't as big as it used to be. Still I thought it was a fairly good showing in terms of what the console can do, though having watched it again I stand by my Killzone thoughts, looked generic and some of the physics looked naff. PC specs mean PC prices, and these costs will get passed on to the consummer at somepoint if not at the checkout, via subscription services.
