I was looking into it just last week actually. One of those things where I need to decide if I want to spend a load of money on it and have to factor in how much it would cost in electricity.

Price isn't really an issue since you're not using it that many days a year, and it isn't actually that expensive anyway. Its usefulness really does add up over the years - this year in particular there's a lot of days already it has come in handy.

It's been a massive game changer for me, no longer do I worry about it being too hot in the house with this. Just make sure if you do get one that it's 9,000 BTU or higher or it won't really do much.

Yeah working in an office at work with the IT server in so we have to have AC in there. It is really nice. People have barely seen me in work the past few weeks as I've not wanted to venture out of my office.

  • 2 weeks later...

I was playing cricket on Saturday. In the first ten minutes of the game I managed to get hit in the face with the ball whilst wicket-keeping.

I was standing up at the stumps (as I would usually do for the slower bowlers). The delivery was heading nicely towards my gloves, but unfortunately glanced off the batsman's pad and, in a split second, ended up smacking me in the face.

The impact knocked my glasses off my face and I had blood streaming down the side of my nose from a cut caused by the bridge of my glasses. I had further cuts below my eyebrow and eyelid and immediate swelling - quite a mess!

I was concussed, so quite rightly left the field of play (escorted off) and did not resume any playing activity.

Decided it was wise to get checked out at the hospital (though, only did this on Monday). Should've done it on Saturday, but I didn't want any fuss (I guess I was still in shock and didn't really appreciate the potential severity of the injury). If I had gone on Saturday, they'd have probably done a CT scan.

Anyway, other than being told that I did/still have concussion, the guy who assessed me, seems to think I have a fracture to my cheek bone (he sent me for a few X-rays). However, the second opinion, which he sought, said they couldn't see a fracture. I have to wait until Saturday as the guy who assessed me, is not back until then. He wasn't wholly convinced that there isn't a fracture, so he wants to see the outcome of the senior radiologist's report to determine whether there is indeed a fracture, or whether there is not. Will be an interesting few days.

I've been incredibly lucky that my vision was unaffected. Could have been a whole lot worse!

Lessons well and truly learnt... the hard way!

Can’t wait for this bloody heatwave to piss off! Just leaves me lying around miserable all day. Bring back the snow!

No.

Although a quick shower every day would save me having to water the garden.

I also approve of this heat. It is a bit much, but I definitely prefer it to the grey, dreary weather we normally get. Everything just looks better when it's sunny. Plus, have you seen my legs in shorts? Dem gams doe.

Our front lawn is completely dead, which is a bit of a bummer. Not so much that I'll actually bother watering it though.

If grass died during a bit of dry weather, the plains of Africa would be in real trouble. Your lawn is fine, it's just pining for the fjords.

I used to get annoyed during the summer as I'd get bitten a lot and burn easily (and now have hay fever on top). However, the last few years I've just decided to go with it. We don't get it often so I try and enjoy it while I can.

Due to some spat between Virgin and UKTV, all of UKTV channels have been pulled from our Virgin service. they tried to make it seem like some sort of swap by saying we'll be getting Paramount Channel and a few others... but a quick Tweet revealed the truth. The missus has already organised the switch to Sky.

Cannot miss Taskmaster.

Starting to think it might be time to go for an eye test. My eyes have felt a bit strained recently so I think I may need glasses.

That's what inspired me to get my eyes checked and I discovered I needed glasses. When I was learning to drive the squinting to see signs was on the rise...

Ye got nothing to lose by getting dat checkup.

You don’t know. Maybe they’ll have to remove my eyes!
