Barcelona vs Real Valladolid

I am pretty Hype. Slight disappointment is that it's forecast to rain all weekend there, and I'm missing a Nintendo Direct.

The my CompTIA Security+ Exam today and PASSED :D

801 points out of 900 (passing minimum 750)

Pretty chuffed as when I finished and was waiting for the score to appear (which seemed to take AGES) thought if I did pass it would be by the skin of me teeth.

Now I have CompTIA A+, Network+ and Security+ certificates/qualifications.... now hopefully an IT job/intership opens up soon :heh:

Cool about the nieces Cube!

I sold my old car today!

I say old, it was a 59 plate Abarth :heh: but I needed to sell it asap and was starting to get concerned that I'd never sell the bloody thing!

A nice couple from Chester came to see it on Wednesday then made an offer below the asking price on Thursday. I declined as it was too low, but he text me this morning saying he wanted it and upped his offer to a much more acceptable price (£8100) and I bit his hand off!

So the worry of selling it is now gone! Sad to have sold it as I loved that car, but I love my new one too and it's much more economical and cheaper which is all round winz. :D

Woo more good news (and bad, but that's another thread).

Found a place to live, £100 a week, moving in tomorrow! It's lodging but I got an en-suite. All bills included, comes with Sky sports/atlantic.

Was meant to be my last day at work today, they've instead asked me to come back next week, whilst also offering me another job if I want it -- inbound calls. £6.93 an hour plus commission... ummming and errrring about it. They've also said they'd like to have me come in after next week to do this scanning stuff, and they're looking into it. The scanning stuff is only limited amounts of hours and, realistically, if I didn't take the call-based job I'd not afford the £100 a week. It may be a case of gottado.

Also supposed to have an interview monday but they've not replied to my email asking for specific time/place, and it's now nearly 8pm so i guess I won't know now.

Applied for a job as a support worker for what used to be the RNID (deaf stuff), which I've checked all teh boxes for. Problem with it is it's a 0-hour contract, which of course could be problematic - but if I get it it would interlace with the scanning work.

I've got like 20 tabs with other jobs to go for but I've just spent 3 hours doing one form so I need a rest!

P.S. Eurovision party tomorrow night. Gaytastic.

@Cube congrats dude! I remember learning I was an uncle... was strangely euphoric. I'm sure your 2nd occurance is just as awesome :)

@Ashley yeah it's insanely great even for Brighton. If you want to pay around £400 a month you need to flatshare with at least 2 others, and typically still pay for bills (of course, some months are longer than others so rent will take fluctuating chunk of my income).

@jayseven - Huzzah! Sounds like you're on your way. Take the inbound calls, at the very least its only for a little while, but should tied you over? I'd be jealous of the rent, but I'm currently on 375 for two rooms (suck it @Ashley :P).

Weekend! That's it really, its been wonderful being home, the housemate has had 0 guests, so its just been me, her and the doggies ^_^ yay!

me, her and the doggies

If I ever direct a porn, this is what it'll be called.

Tonight I'll be at a barbeque followed by a poker game.

I don't have to work tomorrow.

Then it's 4 days of work, and Saturday the CL final.

The following week: only 3 days of work and hopefully at least one evening of going out to party.

I'm writing this while listening to Contact by Daft Punk.

All is good.

Worked 35 hours Friday-Sunday (for those keeping track, that's more than I work in my day job) on an animation project. Just cut together a rough first draft of the three sequences and hopefully it goes okay because while I thought I had until next Sunday, I only have until Friday (and my next day off is Friday). Although Friday and Sunday probably won't make a difference to the director if needs be (as they're self-contained units anyway), but I'd like to finish it off. Feedback I've had so far hasn't been "OMG this is terrible what are you doing", so hopefully it should just be tweaking it in the evening and finishing it off on Friday.

Anyway, ramble ramble ramble. Imma go get some sunshine!

That's a pretty sweet deal. What's the place itself like? 100 quid a week for Brighton is a very good price! It can be extortionate at times.

Pretty decent! Got a TV and once I get my xbox back I can have access to sky sports (maybe atlantic too). En-suite bathroom, with a bath and (faulty!) shower-head that isn't fixed to the wall. That's my biggest gripe at the mo - having to have a bath each morning. I'll talk to them to see if I can use the shower upstairs -- probably will as their hours and my potential hours will mean no conflict.

The area is portslade-way, north of old shoreham road (so probably not an area you knew well!) essentially really safe, within 15 mins of a big tescos, sainsburys, iceland and aldi.

Double-glazed, big room, furnished... it is good. The thing is I didn't look extensively, and I've been told through a mate about a place for £50 a weekm though it's miles the other way, and a friend is looking to sub-let his room. If this friend is willing to do it at a reasonable price I may look to move there as it's more central and my social life will improve. However, I've basically accepted the full-time and part-time jobs my work has offered me, which will probably mean working 9am-8pm. It's 5 mins from hove station, so where I am means I can get there in 30 mins but where I'd be would take maybe 45. Is that worth a difference of, say, £25 a week? Honestly, if there's a shower there that works, and if this place refuses me access to the shower, then I'd save more than 15 mins by avoiding a bath each morning.

I've committed to 4-6 weeks here, but I think I'd be smart to keep an eye out. While I think this place will be a no-stress place, money is going to be tight for a while and there are lodgings/shared accomodation options that are cheaper, but of course each comes with a different set of down sides.

Keep your options open. I'd go batshit crazy if I couldn't have a shower every morning. :p

I don't know that area too well. Seems a bit out of the way, though. Ideally, you'd want to be in the centre. Where are you working? How close to the centre is it?

Working near hove station - I'm 15 min walk to portslade station, which is like 4 min train ride, then 5 min walk to work so it's really fine from here. The work I'm applying for may be anywhere in sussex so I'll just need to be near a train station and this works well; the potential place is in the hanover area of town (west of old steine) which is a bit more of a bitch to get to a train station.

Yeah, the potential place seems a bit out of the way. Can you bus it there? Although, the traffic won't be too great in the morning if you need to be there for 8-ish.

Yeah there are some bus options, but the prices just went up (for teh 2nd time in 6 months) to £4.60 for a day saver... Train is the cheaper option at the moment (and quicker of course!)

God, I swear the buses were a quid cheaper than that (at least) when I was living there. Extortionate!
